Car hauler question .
Wagoneer81 replied to hotrod59f100's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I agree with using a Dodge L-700 or a Ford C-600 or 900...Or... You could do something silly and off-the-wall, like this... -
Is it possible...
Wagoneer81 replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Completely impossible for me. Cannot, willnot, shallnot happen! I have no idea how many projects I have started but I think it's over 20... someday I'm gonna have a heck of a finished collection! -
That's how I see getting one, myself....
-
Danno, I'm guilty of a similar response ... my gut reaction when I saw Docs first Cobra post was, "Cool, I've never seen one of these junked... I wonder if he remembers that the bodys are aluminum and won't rust?..." Looking good Dr.!

No, not yet... I've read the series twice, about a year in between readings. Watched the series twice before Deathly Hallows II made it to DVD and then watched the entire series in one marathon sitting... I like to read a good book or series, or watch a good movie at least twice as you always pick up something you missed in the first reading or viewing.

I know.... I just want an excuse to watch the movies again... I was informed in the thread in 'New Kit Previews' that the Knight Bus was modelled on the AEC RT Regent, not the RM Routemaster so it wouldn't be a completely accurate build anyway... Ohh well. I still like the idea...

OK, small update here... I'm scrapping the smallblock chevy idea... (Well, that's one Parts Pack down...lol) I was digging around in an engine drawer and found something meaner for that drag frame... a 429SCJ with two resin Holley Dominators on a tunnel ram intake... will post pics later. ;^)

Dan, If not dollhouse supplies, then architectural supplies or as a last resort, scratchbuilding. I can get the material for the chandeliers in the jewelry section of Hobby Lobby or Michaels and beds and armchairs wouldn't be too difficult to fabricate... Multiple big, fat armchairs could be made from resin molds taken from a scratchbuilt master. I made a pretty convincing chandelier for my nieces 1/12 dollhouse MANY years ago but it was in vain... I should have thought about what might happen when her hyperactive older brother got ahold of it... *Grrrumble...* Well, This'll give me an excuse to watch the movies again.... Research, research, research!

That would be a great use for the leftover single decker from the Knight bus build.... I will make a serious effort to aquire two of these kits by years end... The more we talk, the more I want to take on the project...
-
Cranky, You want a crazy idea, I would love to take two of these kits and build the 'Knight Bus' from the Harry Potter series... The Knight Bus is a purple triple decker... I'd use the leftovers to build a single-decker...
-
Looks that way to me too, Jim... I'd have no issues, what so ever with you following me and my '56 across the finish line...
-
I will have one of these kits.... Someday! I'm not really intimidated by it, I'm really excited by its layout and parts count. I also build 1/350 scale battleships and aircraft carriers with full WWII era anti-aircraft suites and airwings so I'm used to very complex assemblies. Even though I won't be participating in the community build right now, I WILL be keeping tuned in to the build to see what is being done wth these jewels. My first thought, when looking at the pics of the test shots, other than "HOLY COW" was that I'd love to see somebody take two of these monsters and build the purple, triple-decker 'Knights Bus' from the Harry Potter series... Hmm... I may have to save up for two kits... build one triple-decker and a single decker...

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Wagoneer81 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Ok, I went a little nuts on the cab... This build is sooooo much fun! We now have vents, antennae, blowers, sensors, ground radar and a gunners hole in the roof. And here is another view of the primary energy weapon... Notice the heat sink, the coolant tank, all the little Earthly tidbits needed to make this Alien weapon functional... And.... mocked-up with the frame... My goal is to complete the cab, with the two weapons stations in the sleeper and the finished gunners position and get it onto a rolling chassis befrore tackling the main weapons system. The weapons system will be built on a rusty, cobbled diamond plate flatbed mounted behind the cab and will include the alien fusion reactor and main weapon turret AND all the earthly technology that has to be cobbled together to make them functional... Things like the diesel generator, the particle separator coming off the reactor, the pre-turret particle condensor, the power amplifer between the turret and generator and the cooling systems and pumps required to keep everything from melting down, going critical and turning the truck and crew into charred, smoldering, foul smelling tidbits scattered around a large crater... -
Thanks, just what I need... Another idea! This is a wonderfully unique piece of Americana. I am almost at a loss for words to describe how I feel.... There's just so much going on here... Amazing! Simply AMAZING!

You guys with the little agile 356's and such, just remember the motto of the American Auto Industry back when this is supposed to be taking place... 'There's no Replacement for Displacement!' And... The Rule of Big states that, 'When involved in manuvering for position and vieing for 'asphalt real estate', he with the most tonnage wins... Can you say, "Porche Pancake"?!? "Was that a speedbump?" "No, it was an Speedster..." *Spoken firmly tongue-in-cheek* That being said, (As I stand by for a friendly barrage of slings and arrows from my buddys across the pond and North of the border...) I officially throw my hat into this ring with a 1956 Ford Sedan Delivery. I'll use the AMT Victoria kit with a Jimmy Flintstone resin body. There'll be plenty of room in the back for a couple of spare tires, tool boxes, jacks, a box or two of C-rations to eat on the road, oil and a spare fuel can or two and a bedroll and pillow for the offduty crewman to recharge his batteries. Power will be supplied by a 400hp Lincoln 430 Tri-power with a 4-speed crunchbox. Wheels will be simple, plain steelies. Undecided on paint right now... *EDIT*- Here we are! Well, the basic components anyway, so we can make my entry official

A Feast of Snakes (Two Cobras Are Deadlier than One!)
Wagoneer81 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Model Cars
Very nice... and SHINY! I love the Revell Cobra kits, this one turned out great! -
If you mean 'what year the trucks are, the Bigfoot is a 1979. Last year for that body style and the only year Ford used square headlights on that style truck. The Krusher is an early '80's model, that's the best I can do with that one because I don't know all the styling clues for that style truck. *EDIT* Rob posted at the same time I did... Sorry about the redundant response...

Highway! I'm so very sorry to hear about your troubles but it looks like your well on your way to picking yourself up and dusting yourself off. I took a couple of similar hard hits like yours back in '07... It DOES get better, just takes a bit of time, is all. As a former truckdriver, let me say that your decision to get back behind the wheel is exactly the same one I would have made if had to do it all again... That's a good looking truck, Werner always did have decent, up to date equipment. Keep on movin', buddy! When life startes to bite back, I'm a firm believer that a moving target is harder to hit! Stay safe out there!

Dr.Cranky's 3 day weekend build #2 .Feb 18,19 & 20 th
Wagoneer81 replied to ranma's topic in Community Builds
I've built a couple of the Revell Cobras and have two more in the stash and I love them! They go together nicely and they look great when finished. -
If you wanna get REAL technical, these parts packs are 'spare parts' . They're sitting in the stash not doing anything, just like every other kit supplied part that they keep company with. This is a model build, I'm gonna go ahead and assume that we're ok and start this beastie! *Insert 'Thumbs-Up' emoticon here*
-
True, but all I was commenting on was that I am running out of ideas from the parts box ... no worries! That's one of the reasons I was planning to use these packs. The question was if the parts packs were ok to use for the build... That's the verdict I was waiting on. As I typed before I really thought about it, I realized that you put my name on the list AFTER I mentioned using the parts packs. So what I mentioned at the beginning of post #14 is kinda moot and no longer relevant... I guess I shoulda edited that part after I really thought about it and edited the post for the first time... So, to clarify and answer CorvairJims question, the Parts Packs are ok to use for this build, correct?
