  1. Well, if it isn't, I may have to bow out of this build.... Not out of spite or anything like that but for mainly, resource purposes. I'm working on a large parts box build for the Post-Apoc Community build that will consume a lot of my surplus parts... It's about half-way down page 85 if you want to check it out. Jim, I had the same question rolling around in the back of my mind when I originally posted so, Lane, what's the verdict? *EDIT* Now that I look back and read this thread again, Lane added my name to the list after I posted my intent to use the two parts packs, so I think everything 's kosher. Parts is parts, Ehh? Heh... I seem to have talked myself through a full circle here... I'll blame the pain meds. I think it's nap time...
  2. OK, Cranky, here ya go! I figured that since we're 85 pages into this build, I should get on the ball and build and post something so a few days ago, I dug a couple of boxes out of storage and started something BIG... Man I need to lay off the coffee... We have the beginnings of a 6x6 large weapons carrier (Alien technology, energy weapon), scratchbuilt framerails, rear suspension from the T-600A kit, (Hendrickson 55,000# walking beam... good solid gear!), Driptroit 12v71, front axle and transfer case from Saurkrauts and scratchbuilt, modified driveshafts. Four fueltanks and one gasoline tank from the parts box... I'm going to use the K100 Aerodyne cab that I got in a lot of truck parts a few weeks ago... I figure that this way, I can locate the weapons control people in what used to be the sleeper and have a driver and defensive roof gunner position as well. They were originally going to be in the rear of the truck because I was going to use this cab originally... It's a scratchbuilt, I eyeballed an Oshkosh and did me own thing with it... Since this cab is now 'surplus', I'm going to dig out my 1/35 Iraqi BMP kit and pirate the lower half and use this as a cab for a tracked vehicle... Now, here's where it gets interesting... This is the weapon that this vehicle will carry... The tan base is a 1/350 USS Missouri turret, I turned the barrel in my lathe and the greeblies are from the parts bin... OK, so why the huge truck for a weapon that's a scale 10' long??? It's not the weapon, it's the alien fusion reactor and all its earthly support components that tie the gun and the power supply together and make things work... More later!
  3. Heh! I just finished a small dragster that fits this build perfectly! I used a Revell Parts Pack drag chassis, a SOHC inline six from an MPC Pontiac Firebird, a 4/71 supercharger and bits from the partsbox... It was actually built for a 'What were you thinking' themed model club build. I have another revell frame and a partspack 283 and was seriously considering building another... I'll do that for this build. Count me in as well! I'll post a pic of the six-shooter and the beginning components of the new build here in just a bit. *EDIT* Here we go, it's been 'just a bit' and I did get my butt in gear, snapped and loaded some pics... This is the one I just finished... ...And this is what I''ll start with next. Just like the last one, everything else will come from the parts box... I think I'll use the front mounted supercharger option... Those just look neat! I've had these in my stash for several years now... It's high time to put them to good use!
  4. Darin, friend... I am at a loss for words.... I don't know what else to say other than; Know that you and Bobbi are in my thoughts and prayers.
  5. OK, the purple and orange is going to be a wild paintjob... I can't wait to see it!
  6. Ohhh.... Those tracks are gonna be fun! I love individual track links!
  7. Ahh.... Another Ken Hamilton Diorama! I love the Ghost Wall effect! I look forward to seeing this one finished! BTW, I love the Hula girl too, thanks for the pics!
  8. MORE!!! I love armor in-progress pics! Maybe this'll inspire me to finish my Sherman!
  9. 'Elgin Park'. It certainly has a nostalgic feel and sound to it, doesn't it? I've seen his work before, and I love it! Thanks for the post and the links, everybody.
  10. Yes, it is! It's a blast to drive what with the 360 v8 and non-power assisted steering... You definitely have your hands full when behind the wheel of this one,
  11. Very Sweet ElCamino... Makes me want to return my Drag 'Camino back to a more 'stock' appearance...
  12. WOW!!! This one has gone beyond weathered to dissolved! Well done!
  13. It looks good to me, Chuck! I don't see a darned thing wrong with it... I'd be proud to have my Hornet turn out half that good, which, BTW, I just started my first Hudson build earlier this week.
  14. Chuck, an insane and unique build! Just what I've come to expect from your mad, fertile imagination! Keep these cool crazy builds coming!
  15. OK, you had my attention at "Deep Pockets"... Gotta love the old 'Vette suspension! I look forward to seeing more!
  16. Ira, I am really, REALLY impressed! When I saw the thread title, I wondered how this would be pulled off... I'm amazed at how well you've blended the different components together. This is going to be one of the best custom blends I've ever seen. I'll keep watching!
  17. Looks good so far! I like what you did with the back of the cab and I love the stance. The stance sure makes it look mean!
  18. Holyshmokes! You certainly do live up to your handle! Very impressive! Thanks for the tip about using casting resin for plastic reservoirs. That looks very realistic.
  19. I look in on The Asylum several times a day... ;^)
  20. Cool! You could pay tribute to the Pennsylvania RR's double headed electric passenger engine by calling this the 'GG 1/2'... It's different, I like it!
  21. Count me in! Gee.... Which unfinished project/projects do I want to finish... ;^) Ranma, I look forward to seeing your Paystar 5000 build. It may just get me inspired enough to rebuild the two that I have... ;^)
  22. Sounds like a winner to me, even though I didn't finish the last one on time, I really had a blast with it! Count me in on the next one, This'll give me plenty of time to decide on a subject...
  23. Floquil Engine Black has a nice vinyl/leather-like sheen to it when it's dry. I usually brush it on as it lays down smoothly and cures evenly with no brushmarks.
  24. When I get burned out, or whatever you want to call it, I change subject matter. I'll build 1/25 for a while, get into a rut, dig into the stash and bring out a few 1/72 aircraft, 1/35 or 1/72 armor kits or a 1/350 waqrship... I've been building and collecting for years and flip subjects on a regular basis... Needless to say, I have quite an extensive parts bin and kit stash... Right now, I'm on a 1/72 aircraft 'bender' that I started in August... These are quick builds, I love the results and they're pretty inexpensive compared to other subject matters...
