The VEGA & PINTO Celebration Thread
KevinJarvis replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Here is my contribution to this thread. All of these were built over 30 years ago. -
You have the Snake decals? I sure could use them. KJ

Someone on these forums gave me this link http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/instruction_sheetsh/instruction_sheets/monogram-3/monogram-the-snake-/zimg107.html to some Snake decals. I've found someone who will clean up this image and reproduce them for me. My question is, is this image the correct size that I need or will it have to be resized and if so, to what dimensions.

The last pic looks like one of the race cars built out of old WW2 drop tanks.

I should have also stated that underneath the blue, that I brushed on, the body is molded yellow. I'm sure now it's the Snake F/C. Now to get to work. Where oh where do I start? Edit: And I just found a thread that states the decals for this yellow car are not in production. That's going to make it tough. :-) -

Thanks to everyone who replied. I thought it might have been the old Snake kit as my brother and I had them all. I just couldn't remember it having the blue windshield, which now seems sort of strange. I was tempted to re-decal it into something else but I think I'll stick with the original now. Thanks again, KJ -
As a native Hoosier I'm happy to say I was there when all the turbines ran at Indy. This one, by far, is my favorite. Thanks for a great build. Sure brings back memories.

WOW...I had a 69 too. Green with a black vinyl top. 5 spoke wheels. The spokes were black and the wheel bead was chrome. I miss that ole car.

High expectations can be a bummer. ;-) But check now. -
My brother visited DSR this week and posted a few pix on his Facebook site. My brother is a sales manager at a dealership in Plainfield Indiana and sold a vehicle to one of the team members. He was invited to tour the shop. He picked up some hats and t-shirts, but all I got was a lousy Facebook poke. :-) Thanks to the guys at DSR. KJ

New mustang
KevinJarvis replied to Kaleb's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
My 69 Mustang just rolled over in it's grave. -
And if anyone can help with locating decals I would appreciate it. I've checked over at Slixx only to come up empty with a search and an internet search doesn't show anything either. Thanks. KJ

Barry Setzer " wedge" dragster
KevinJarvis replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
That is a great looking piece of work. But I was under the impression, that the body IS the chassis of the car. -
A few weeks ago I posted a picture of a box full of models that I recently found. I've finally decided on which one to start rehabbing. I found a blue Plymouth Duster funny car that seemed to have most of the part still attached, well, at least they were in the box. I couldn't for the life of me remember what it had been before that ugly blue paint and flame decals were added. Wow, sorry for the poor picture quality. Also, the blue tint windows have me a bit stumped. I don't remember 'Snake' having those. Even on the model. But then again, they say memory is the first to go. I removed the decals, well, most of them anyway, and began sanding the rough spots on the body when suddenly, the original body began to show thru in it's yellow color. This has to be my old Monogram Don "The Snake" Prudhomme funny car. So, I will be working to transform this blue beast back into one my favorite car/driver combo's that remind me of years of sitting in the stands at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Sports team = Which car
KevinJarvis replied to justin2020's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would agree with the Indy Colts, but lets make the Mustang a GT500 please. And thankfully the Dodge Colt is not produced anymore. But, since they are alot like the car, I have to chime in with the Indiana Pacers = Pacer...??
