Made a little progress on the Triangula this week. The Tailllight, Rear Window & License Plate Openings have all been filled with sheet plastic. Two round holes have been cut in the Rear Window area for the Deep Frenched Taillights. I cut the bottom half from the Revell 12th Scale 1957 Chevy Dashboard. This leaves the top half for the Triangula. Now it's a perfect fit and there is plenty of legroom in this 8th scale interior. Finished filling in all the sections that were cut away from the original body. Next I have to cut out an area in the top of the body, to clear the 8th scale Honda 750-4 Cylinder Motorcycle Engine. Comments or Suggestions Welcome!

I made a cardboard template of the front end. This is not an exact template, it is just a rough idea of how the front end will be. Next step is to cut out a plastic piece for the top section of the front end and start cutting & shaping it to fit. Then I will make the side pieces.

Here is a photo showing a little progress on the VW Chili Pepper. I Chopped the top, Shortened the body, Reduced the width of the body, Sectioned it, Radiused the rear wheel wells, and cut down the rear lip of the body. I still need to fabricate the long "Bugaboo Style" front end on the VW body, then I will start on the 34 Ford Chili Pepper Body. Comments or Questions Welcome...

AFTER: <img src="http://www.sonic.net/~joymkrs/Dahm/ATRILAx4.JPG" border="0" class="linked-image" /> Made some progress with the Triangula Interior. Going from 12th scale to 8th scale! Much of the stock interior was removed & replaced with sheet plastic. Drive to the rear wheels is done with Belt Drive and Independent Trailing Arms. The driver sits very low in the car, because there is no driveshaft. Notice that a large Access Opening has been cut out in the floor. This will allow me to install the Windshield and finish the interior after the Roof Section has been glued in place. I changed the name of this project to the Red Hot Chili Peppers! I finished the chassis and I am ready to start modifying the bodies to fit the chassis. More body modification photos coming soon!

Thanks Steve, Found the rear slicks at Comp Resins, couldn't find the fronts. Will have body photos next month!

This is the first Revell 16th scale Funny Car that I have built. It is a very nice kit, Good details and an easy fit on most all of the parts. Just need to add the Cockpit Side panels & a few more details and the chassis is done. The Front Wheels & Scoop with Injectors are from Competition Resins. The rear wheels are from the Tony Nancy Dragster. The only problem I found was some of the tires in these kits self destruct... so I am looking for resin tire replacements. I am working on 2 bodies for this chassis. The first is inspired by the old AMT VW Funny Car kit called Bugaboo and the second body is a 34 Ford Coupe. Both of the bodies will be narrowed, shortened, chopped and the front ends will be scratch built. Body photos next month!

Yes, there are bubbletop versions & then there are versions with a low wrap around windshield. I believe there are only 2 different versions & many different versions of the box art.
-
You should be able to find one of these on Ebay, if not a a local hobby shop. These kits have been released many times with different names & boxart. Do a "12th Scale" Search on Ebay & see what comes up!
