  1. Here is a link to site showing how you can make your own display case relatively cheaply. http://www.italianhorses.net/Tutorials/Display/dcase.htm
  2. Here is some info from the H.O.K site: DO NOT USE OTHER COMPANY'S HARDENERS, REDUCERS OR THINNERS IN OUR PRODUCTS. REDUCERS Reducers for Kosmic Kolor® Urethane Enamel & SHIMRIN® Universal Bases: Our Kosmic Reducers - Ru-300 EXEMPT, RU-310 FAST DRY, RU-311 MEDIUM DRY, RU-312 SLOW DRY - are the only reducers we recommend for use with our Kosmic Kolor Urethane Enamel system. Used in the base, Kandy and clear coats, our reducers allow for: excellent sprayability fast staged release good flow out and leveling retention of gloss when dry NOTE: Even with over reduction, the paint retains its gloss. Other reducers may cause dulling. This is especially true when any amount of over reduction has been attempted to even metallics or increase flow out. THINNERS Thinners for Kustom Kolor® Acrylic Lacquers: Our Kustom Thinners 101 HI-GLOSS and 202 FAST DRY are the finest thinners you can buy at any price. The thinner carries the paint to the surface, then evaporates from the paint film. The way the thinner leaves the film determines the flow, tack free time, consistency, shrinkage, leveling, dry time, tape, time and final gloss. Choose the thinner best suited to your shop conditions and the size of the object to be sprayed. Our Thinners are- not cross referenced by any other paint company. Just thought I would post this so you wont waste any time or paint! 8)
  3. So 'splain the poor man's carbon fiber.... By the way, I like the use of the different colors of 'metal'....makes the details really stand out. I have this same kit, now I know how to tackle it!
  4. Has anyone ever put together a pricing guide for models? Something like what they do for sports cards? I have a couple of old models and I wonder if they are worth more unbuilt or if I should try to assemble them. I cant imagine a Palmer kit going together very easily.
  5. That is simply great! Not only is fantastic to see youngsters getting into the hobby, I am glad to that she is excited to show it! Obviously some great coaching from Dad.
  6. I am a little out of touch on this project. What is the scale?
  7. Hey Iz, just knock down the solder with a mini wire wheel on a dremel. That should thin it right down. What surface did you lay it on to do the solder work? Any 'heat sink' issues?
  8. Ford produced expansion tanks like that but with a little different geometry. The Cobra 427 has one and I think the ’60 Sunliner does as well.
  9. Tim, it is the Monogram SHELBY 427 Cobra Street, dated 1989
  10. Here are a couple of pics of a model I am stuck on. Wish I could find a p.e. windshield frame. The kit one is SO thick.
  11. Excellent detail! All the way down to the oily footprints!
  12. Here is another one of my Dave Deal clones
  13. Here are a couple of my recent digital pieces
  14. This is another one of my stash from the early '80s
  15. Here are the other photos of the Duster
  16. Thank you Marcos 8)
  17. Nice, nice build. I like the satchel in the back!
  18. Those flames are just sick! 8) And I LOVE the Blue/Silver combo
  19. I dont know if it is the Poison Pinto or not. There are no decals. So far, e-bay has turned up nothing. I was thinking of using the art-deco horse decal from the Revell '70 Boss 429 and then just masking my own paint scheme, but I would really like the fake grille and headlight decals that adorn funny cars and I would still need some 1/32 scale slicks. Thanks for your ideas!
  20. Very sweet. I especially love the touch of adding graphics to the gas tank.
  21. I love the 'wet' paint and chrome steelies!
  22. Though this kit was loaded with detail, it had more than its fair share of fit problems. One such problem was the clearance of the head light buckets on the hood with the body. Unfortunately, this was not noticed until after painting the final assembly was almost done. Also, either due to poor fit or the build up of multiple coats of paint and primer, the hood was too wide. A little filing and sanding and the fit issues were resolved.
  23. The interior was painted with flat black and flat German Grey. This gave a nice visual contrast and helped eliminate the potential ‘black hole’. A custom mix of dark gray, silver and black flocking was used to simulate carpet. The instrument panels and stereo and heater controls were dry brush detailed with silver paint. Also visible on the passenger seat are photo-reduced comic books to suggest a recent trip to the bookstore.
