  1. Tony, Nice builds! And congrats on figuring out the posting thing! 8)
  2. Gregg, I have also noticed that I am not receiving notifications that someone has responded to a thread that I have responded to. Just FYI. 8) Russ
  3. Echoing Chris, do you paint the embossing powder after you glue it down? And if so, what paints? BTW, the details in the interior are just sick! 8)
  4. Hey Jake, What body or kit is that?
  5. I am not sure which photo hosting site you are using, but with PhotoBucket, you have the option to re-size the photo for posting purposes. PhotoBucket gives you four different size options. Once you size the photo down, it should be correct for the forum. I hope this helps.
  6. Awsome engine bay detailing! I have a weird request: Could you take a picture of your photo set-up? Stand back and show how high off the ground the set-up was? You have some great angles or the car that really look convincing!
  7. Let me be the first.....Awsome job, Bill!
  8. Very nice! Are those cold air intakes in the interior headlights?
  9. Very nice job. Is that an aluminum frame or did you paint it that way?
  10. Jason, the eye roll was directed towards myself. Kinda like, sheesh, you dummy....... not using gloves. I know better, and still have done it without thinking. I was not discounting anything you said in the least!
  11. I was in NO WAY advocating NOT using gloves. I guess what I was trying to get across is that though it does not react as fast as sulfuric or hydroflouric acid would on your skin, the effects are still be harmful. I sincerely hope that anyone reading this thread will not attempt what Jason has suggested.  I know that he is being facetious, but with some people you never know!
  12. Olle, the product you are looking for is clear acetate. Back in the day you could get it for laser printers for use with overhead projectors. Maybe try your local office supply store.
  13. Wow, I really like the interior! Great detailing! I have always loved those '60's cars with the wide chrome strip on the seats.
  14. I too have been in a hurry and picked up parts out of the bath without having my gloves on. I too have seen no ill effects on my skin. BUT, any chemical that can remove and dissolve paint, cannot be good for your internal organs when you absorb it through your skin. Your liver is especially sensitive to volatile compunds that get into your blood stream by absorbtion.
  15. Olle, I have had great success using CSC for stripping both paint and chrome. I have also 'forgotten' about parts thst are soaking and have not had any adverse effects. It will strip laquers as well as glazing and filler putties. The time to strip is dependant on the age of the paint and perhaps the number of coats. I use rubber gloves to extract the parts from the bath and wash them with dish soap and warm water. I use old toothbrushes to work on particularly stubborn areas. I personally keep my bath in a larger tupperware container so I can seal it and keep the evaporation rate down. I have had the same solution in my tub for over a year and it still works fine for me. I would NOT add anything to it as you do not know the chemical reaction that might take place. I hope this information is helpful for you. 8)
  16. Castrol Super Clean.....the infamous purple bath
  17. Gosh, I just have to say, I really dont like 23 inch rims. To me they look so unrealistic. The DUB cars are just about the ugliest thing I have ever seen. That’s just my opinion, and I know it is not a popular one. 8)
  18. To pipe in on this subject, when I have a day to hit "The Circuit", I do Mizell Trains, Hobby Lobby, HobbyTown, Thompson's Hobbies on Wads near Colfax and Colpar. Since they closed down, I miss the shop in old town Arvada, that seemed to specialize in RC planes but had a good model selection. I can do the whole trip and get my fill of plastic eye candy!
  19. Bob, Very nice build. I really like the 'retro' look of the 356 rims and hubcaps! Would be neat to see those rims done a little wider with newer running stock.... Could see that as a future build...... 8)
  20. Howard, Ironically, I already had 2 models in the stash. And I noticed that the rims on the Paddy Wagon match the ones on our Corvair, so I should be able to replicate it very easily. As far as car maintenance is concerned, she is already very adept. She helped me replace the alternator on her CRX with required dropping the spindle and CV joint to create clearance. She takes pride in understanding how her vehicle works, and loves "oneupmanship" on her boyfriend.
  21. Thanks Gregg! It was a lot of fun for me to look for the car. It feels like an empty spot in my life now, no more scanning the side streets for "ForSale" cars, no more NADA website searches for pricing... Half of the fun is the chase, dont you think? 8) The Mustang is MY pet project. My dad bought it when I was 12 and gave it to me about 7 years ago. My son and daughter are already fighting over who gets it when I am gone. Sheeesh. And I am still breathing.....
  22. Just a proud poppa. Cant help it. She has always liked older, classic cars, so I really wanted to get her something that would stand out. She absolutely loves it, and loves the attention that it brings! and our anti-theft device.... Thanks for viewing! 8)
  23. Do we have to respond to this without text?
