  1. Here it is in action, awesome car, would be real experience to have a ride in this!
  2. best aussie mag by far,and wild cad is mostly owner built too if I remember correctly.
  3. for the R34 GTR it's how they come from the factory
  4. this looks like one cool project, can't wait to see the progress on this.
  5. How can you tell if the solder is acid core or not? the rods I make my chassis from is "silver solder" but its a bronze colour and really stiff just like solid brass rod but it's much cheaper.
  6. Wow some great detailing here,is all the chrome factory stuff or alclad?
  7. Thanks for the offer but it's all sorted now,I have someone local lined up to buy the rest of the kit after I take the engine from it so that works out quite nicely otherwise it would have been an expensive engine.
  8. we pretty much get shafted for kit prices here, back home I used to pay around 35-40 for tamiya kits, some tamiya kits here such as the r35gtr go for around AUD$100.Most revell kits online can be had for 25-35 and in hobby shops they range from 40-50
  9. Can anyone tell me if this particular kit comes with a separate engine? http://www.modelsandhobbies4u.com.au/models/cars/99-mitsubishi-eclipse-2-n-1.html It does say clear hood to show off engine compartment but im not sure if that means a moulded in engine in the bay,im only after the engine to use for another project, havn't had any luck finding other kits.
  10. I got this kit yesterday, have you modified the ride height at all or is this the ride height I can expect for mine?

    Toyota Pickup

I would say it's the same for the front as on a 1:1 you have to effectively tub the front as well to get it this low, which means pushing the suspension setup further inboard.
  12. great work this is some nice detail work, love the paint combo it suits the car really well.
  13. Here's the inspiration for the build, this is what I want to replicate when I rebuild this at a later date when i'm good enough too,it won't be an exact replica as there's a few things I don't quite like There's going to be a fair amount of work scratch building an engine to this detail but it's a good goal to aim for one day.
  14. Havn't done much lately on this,I decided to redo the chassis I was working on is it got quite lopsided but was good practise, here is the original.. And here is what I have done so far with the new one,it's still not perfect but im happy to continue with it for now as I will eventualy rebuild this again one day,im getting a bit stuck with the planning as im not quite sure when to start adding interior detailing and firewall etc,it won't be nice to get to the point where I have built too much and can't fit stuff in cause I have left it too late-all part of the fun I guess. I have also put about 4hrs worth of body work in to this body as it had numerous faults compared to the 1:1 version, theres still abit to go but I had a setback when I tried to open up the front bumper area for the intercooler,I used my dremel with a cutoff wheel and the wheel exploded taking a big chunk out of the bumper,I tried to smooth it out and equal it up but it's gotten too big and looks wrong, any ideas on how I can fix this up,I want to have the opening flush with where the spotlights finish
  15. I think everyone wants to improve their skills and being told what could be done better or pointing out flaws etc is just a necessary step in becoming better.Maybe it all depends on who is posting their model for all to see,a beginner may not know what can be done better as he is just building straight out of the box so he posts up his finished model and gets heaped with praise and then continues on thinking he is doing good whereas he should really be getting criticism of his work.If someone has being doing it for 20yrs then perhaps that's as good as their skills are likely to be and will react badly to criticism, unless he asks for constructive criticism maybe it shouldn't be offered. Sometimes not saying something about someones work is as bad as criticising it,you can't get better if no one tells you what's going wrong. It just takes a bit of thought about how to write down what you wish to say so as not to discourage anyone or have it viewed as a personal insult.
  16. Another piece of advice I would offer is to take your time when scratch building, there's no point rushing things as it's not a race to get a model finished-the more you can plan everything out as you would if you were building a 1:1 custom the better off you will be,try to take your time perfecting one skill instead of rushing through it to start another, good luck with your builds.
  17. Jeez there's some awesome work in your models, this is the level I aspire to get to.
  18. I'm building the same kit now,was your body in real bad shape? I have had to do an insane amount of body work just to fix all the faults let alone do the mods i'm thinking of,yours has come up nice.
  19. Some great attention to detail here, well done.I bet most of us would not even notice some of the inaccuracies of the various trim pieces etc,you have a great eye for detail.
  20. Nice work,is it just the angle you took the pic at or are the rear tyres in the first pic different widths?
  21. Is that because you prefer the look of alclad over BMF or is it just easier for you to do it this way?Im not sure which option I should try having done neither option as of yet.
  22. Nice job,the body work looks great now compared to when you started it.
