  1. Some of the cars look killer this year, love these designs .. This Porshe has to be one of the nicest race designs EVER imo.
  2. Ken you must have alot of room for all those half dead japanese cars I myself dont have a car lol..
  3. Like this ? i love this, but i dont have those wheels If i DID have those wheels, i would be making a Grand Sport.. as they are the same wheels.
  4. Harry, i compeletly crapped myself when you said i was color blind, i was wondering how the hell you knew that, then i realised the joke I am color blind, well "RG color blind", so yeah my appologies i get greens, browns, greys mixed up and blues/purples/pinks, its really annoying as im a really good artist but i have to ask who evers with me what colors what and such (so i now stick with just graphite pencils), i was going to work for a graphics sign company too, but then i was like.. ###### if i made a mistake like i just did with the corvettes i will have hell to pay..
  5. Hey, i bought an Arii 1992 Corvette C4 1/24 a few weeks ago and well, im in no rush to start it but i am stuck for what color to paint it ? Some info and pics on the actual colors it came in.. (also note its a hard top, and the wheels are the same as the chrome ones in the pictures.) So please vote for which one you think looks best, or will in 1/24 form, i would prefer to stick to these colors to keep it 100% original, but if any other colors just say and pick "other" and post what color, Thanks. Black White Gray Blue Red
  6. Van Halen not always aha, i listen to comedy radio channels almost all the time im using computers there free and hardly any adverts too. if not Van Halen or comedy stations its usually 80's rock/metal, or some kind of techno/breakbeat station kinda soothing to listen when your concentrating i guess ?
  7. hmm, before buying any kit i always look for photos of the kit for like you say the detail quality etc.. i usually pay about £10-£15 ($15-$20) average for a 'decent detailed' kit.. mostly without engines. i pay about £20 ($30) for a more rare or better quality kit.. I dont care at all about prices as i aint got nothing better to buy and model kits stop me from spending money on stuff i dont need, i own over £1000 of video games and it kinda hit me that yeah there fun and all but i achieved nothing in reality out of them, with model kits i do, so therefore i think model kits if anything are under-priced for such a real reward compaired to video games which are now £40+ ($55?+) and arent physically real.. so yeah i dont really mind too much about prices, i would pay $100+ for a the most amazing detailed 1/24 of my favorite cars too
  8. You did a good job making that push bar, it looks like part of the kit
  9. Love the pair of HEMI's
  10. Welcome to the hobby I just like you used to do war game modeling, from this you'll find you wont need any other tools apart from more automotive things such as sandpapers, fillers/puttys etc and different types of paints (i loved using acrylic back when i did minatures, but its got to be enamels and such for car making) anyway, to start off, buy your self a cheap 1/24 kit of any car that takes your interest - remember the funs all in you liking the car, whats the point of modeling a 1/24 toyota prius for gods sake ?? i have no idea where people in oz get there model kits but you have ebay over there so try that if you cant find any shops ? once you have your kit, you should be good for tools and glue i presume, you will just need your base paint, primer and sand paper, may this be a full on auto paint or just a cheap spray can to get used to car model making.. so yeah, overall just enjoy it, the reason i make model cars is because its a way to actually own AND build my own dream car collection i find.
  11. What i meant was, etch the 'Challenger' logo OFF the plastic grill, ie. cut it off carefully ? It probably wont look to good if you did that as youde have to replicate the mesh in its place.. So a personal reccomendation for that mesh if you cant find any, go buy a cheap cooking sieve with that type of square mesh on. then its easily just cut off and then ide use some wire for the edging as it looks pretty thin. thats just what i would do, you look like your sorted anyhow
  12. perfect detailing man, i know its off now but you could have tried etching the challenger logo of the grill ?
  13. amazing chrome work, what was used for the grill ? chrome paint ?
  14. dont give up on it mate those drag wheels look amazing, just strip the paint, try again but warm your paint !! and keep the car in a warm place to dry, i made an amazing paint job just from some Halfords spray paint solely due to the right heat conditions it set perfect.
  15. thats the biggest problem with modeling putty its not really flexible enough to shape a real nice design into .. BUT, what i do is.. i get some kitchen foil wrap it around a hot radiator/pipe what ever you can find thats too hot to touch but not burning hot, anyway put the foil on and place the putty ontop and keep messing with it so it doesnt set and it should eventually get really smooth and workable the kinda "hotter" it gets but its not too hot else it sets. (the foils used just to stop the putty sticking to my radiator and making a mess) so yeah you just need that perfect amount of heat for it the nicer it gets just make sure it doesnt set. also depending on what type of putty it is you could just test paint-thinner or nail polish remover ? could work
  16. nope im not hagar aha, and thanks for the welcome !

  17. Hi, im new to the forum, ive built only 2 1/24 models before, a Fujimi 81' pontiac Firebird, and when i was real young a LeMans Corvette that was painted by hand but considering how young i was the decals are amazing. ANYWAY, so ive started building full on now, ive bought a 1989 Nissan Silvia, I wanted to do it in Shakotan style (low ride, deep dished wheels). So i thought it would be a nice easy build, i bought some seperate wheels for it (deep) but they were female fittings, and well, tamiya is male fitting wheels.. Soo for a week i have spent hours upon hours recofiguring the wheel/shafts fittings its been horrible, but in the end with alot of glue, toothpicks and 5 year old platic modeling putty.. ive done it so heres the story in pics.. The car so far primed and sanded, waiting for the spray paint to come from china, not happy didnt realise they shipped from there. Wheels were way too deep, i cut them down 1mm with a saw End result, looks great 20 year old plastic is a bit flimsy, it all shattered when i was messing around with them. Fixed them How i got the steering to work with the HUGE wheels.. So yeah, i have loads more images but im gona be late for work so i better cut this short.. Its all ok at the moment, depsite parts braking due to the kits age (made in 1989 japan), ive just got to wait a year for the spray paint to come from shakalak wong tong village in china hope you like it will post pics of the interior etc later
  18. looks nice, that is an actual color pontiac offered right ?
  19. thanks so much for the great answers, I think I'll go with the 'wash' approach, the colour of the car will be a dark gunmetal, so i think im going to use a black wash and mix in really slight silver to give it the "darker-than body colour" you said about and keeping it metallic, as it is a pretty dark gunmetal. cheers
  20. Hi there, i would like to know how you all go about producing the black/dark lines that resemble the joins and cracks in car detail. It's hard to explain so simply on this Corolla, the black lines for around the doors etc, how do you produce them ? -Thanks in advance
