  2. hoping some of you can make it!
  3. pretty cool indeed. Had the 1974 Levis edition real car. It had real levis denim interior. It was a fun car to drive too, but rusted away to almost nothing.
  4. What were you hoping for? Shame on you for thinking that! This is my first attempt at scratchbuilding a NDRA toplless car circa 1982. Kinda crude but im getting better with evry build and thats what its all about! Anyone esle build simular cars?
  5. ive not dipped since the 1970s. Still use water, spray paint into it and swirl the paint up and dip the body?
  6. great photos! I really enjoyed the show. First time at this one and bought some stuff and saw some really tallented modelers too!
  7. maybe I met you? I kinda look like Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers. Bought a few kits mostly modified stockers and corvettes as welll as some wide five hubs that ive been needing! Looking forward to the next one, which I guess will be my club show July 13th in Lexington S.C.
  8. will be coming up. My first time, hoping to find something cool!
  9. thank you all. ive got a 3M resporator on the way.
  10. cool info. I mostly remember Rodney from the NDRA dirt track days. Car #5 that had the logo "making Florida greener $" on the rear.
  11. Hello, after years of alergies and building models again ive noticed after spraying that ive got a headache from sinus troubles. Do you wear a resporator when you paint? Im saving to buy one of those cool vented spray booths. I did have an old last time used was 1995 Devilbis resporator that I wore while restoring my 61 belair that has been in storage. Put it on and it smelled just like the painted car did in 1995. Cant find replacement cartridges for it since its out of production now, what brand do you like and use? Drew
  12. found this site too. Looks like some pretty cool stuff. http://www.alphaabrasives.com/alpha/micro-cloth-finishing-products.php
  13. good stuff! Thank you all. Im not going to tye up a bunch of space so yes ive got the micromesh order now, my local autozone only had the 3000 grit pads. Thanks again. Drew C
  14. Ok im looking for some fine sanding paper or ploishing papers. Went to my local autobody paint supplier and found nothing above 1500 grit. Any ideas where to try? Have a assorted set of the 2X2 pads from hobby lobby but would like to get a few sheets locally. Trying to keep shipping costs down. Have not tried the autoparts stores yet like NAPA, carquest etc, but plan to after work tonight. Any ideas? Ive got some 1000 and 1500 grit sheets for trade if you need any. Drew C from SC

  17. Got this one done a while ago, won my first club meeting contest, put it away and brought it out to display. Used a resin altered body that was broken but repaired. mostly the rat packer kit for frame. Ford 427 motor and lotsa scratchbuilt stuff. Paint was a rattlecan hair glitter with lots of clear, sanding, repeated many times.
  18. great info! Guess im just going to have to learn to slow down and read the instructions on different cans as well as here. Got a box of junkers to teach myself to spraypain again! Just when you think you know it all or is that a know it all? LOL! Drew C.
  19. like the hardware store sells? Do you have a part number (1501?)of what you use, ive seen a few different ones? Thanks. Drew C
  20. looks really good for your first car model. As you already know practice makes perfect. Some of us old guys are still learning, just keep on building and improve each time you build. Buy some cheap kits or used cars to learn on that you dont care much about. Thanks for posting! Drew C.
  21. thank you all for the information!
  22. ok had a closer look and looks like the can might have had a small seam leak? Had some bubble like buildup along the lower edge where the bottom crimps the sides of the can. Guess im going to have to sand down a bit and respray. Thanks for the input. Drew C.
  23. Hello, finnaly had some time for my models today. Buuilding a replica of my 1991 corvette from a promotional car. Well after a great basecoat color I sprayed on my testors glosscoat...............................sort of! It seemed to come out in splotches and sputtered from a new can. Well now my body is ruined? It has bumps like orangepeel. Any ideas if this could be a bad batch of clearcoat or did I do someting wrong? It was like it had little to no propellent in it. I tossed it into the trash but can dig it out. It was raining outside my shop but the clear was room temp. What gloss clear do you lall use in spraycan form? Thanks for your input. Drew C.
