  1. Here are the pics i told u I had! Sorry, I thought i took more!
  2. Somewhere (its probably long gone by now) at my uncles house, my dad built the Transtar 4070w/ the Fruehauf Reefer. Built it in honor of my grandads 1,000,000 mile safe driver award (before interstates). No one made an Emeryville, so he used the Transtar. By far the coolest cabovers of my era!!!
  3. looker,The wat you have started that is an actual truck! I have pics of it at home I'll share w you if you like!
  4. I asked as well! They said it was actually called Western Blue!!! The stuff I got is from O'reilleys "Bahama Blue Metallic" I'm goin slow with it. Built it in 2000, tore it down n built it a couple times since. Ex wife tossed it in the yard, cracked the cab, n twisted the frame! Lol Now, a complete rebuild with the lon frame rails.
  5. Thanks guys! Added some paint, and a little shine. The bumper, and wheels are polished aluminum.
  6. Hey ya'll, I know its R/C, but I wanted to share it with you! My intent is to build one of Western Distributings beauties! As u see from the real photo. These are awesome! It'll have a 3 speed trans, with an auxiliary! (its just a ratio reducer), lights sounds....... Whatcha think!? Made a purple ocean to remove the paint! Will get more pics with progress!!
  7. Also, If u look close, it says to mount the engine to the bottom of the mounts on the frame. It fit perfect that way on mine!
  8. Yep! Looked for years for one!! Finally found one at Modelexpress last year, and snatched it up. Some months later I read they are FINALLY reissuing it!! Thanks Round 2!!!! Would love to see the IH Transtar II now!!!!
  9. Hey guys, I bought the Revell 1/32 Mack fire engine, and was wondering how the interior is painted. Is it the lighter green that all old Macks came with, or same as the body?
  10. I see you are using the 1/32 Monogram tanker. Never would've thought of that! Pretty close match!
  11. Cabovers mostly because seeing them now adays, its a rare treat. Old whites, and the old DM's with the steel fenders.
  12. Awesome! Blast from the past! Used to call em half cabs as a kid! I grew up in the hills of North Carolina, and remember seein Winn Dixie, and Bi-Lo had a few Daycabs as i remember. Love your build!
  13. One day when I have a place to put al mine, I'll get to building, and share 'em with you guys! Plenty of stock, no place to put the finished products! Anyway, Love to see a truck built as they were meant to be used for! HAULING! Old Whites, cab overs, you guys, and me eventually, keep the love of them alive!!!! Awesome!
  14. The Army has what we call HEMTT's (Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck) They had DD 8v92's (Latest versions have CAT C15's) These things, even hooked to an Allison Auto, would pull a house off its foundation!!! I hookeded to a much heavier PLS, Groessed at 133,000. Wouldn't climb the bank I just walked up. Had no idea the driver applied the park brake, and pulled it up the bank with power left over!!! Never leaked a drop of oil, ever!
  15. NEW truck model!!!! Can't wait!
  16. Its around 9 or 10 inches longer. You have to pay attention to the spec sheets. Some have bumpers that extend 6" past the front of the hood. Then you have to take into the equasion that prior to 1973, the Back of an R/ DM cab was flat. Post 73 models had I believe 3" added to the back of the cab for more driver room.
  17. I can't wait to walk into my LHS, and the model man grab the truck from behind the counter! That feeling of seein the celophane wrapped box for the first time is priceless! He always orders 2, one for the shelf, and the other for me!
  18. I remember getting the 1/16 KW Aerodyne at Roses for 20 bucks!!!!!! Wish I still had it!
  19. Stationed in Europe for 10 years, I had the opportunity to drive a Mercedes, Actros 1843, and a Scania 420. Compared to the American cab overs, these trucks ride and operate very smooth! The Europeans make up in comfort, and efficiency, for the lack of extended hoods, and 53 foot trailers! Also all you hear when they pass, is the hum of the tires!
  20. Hate talkin about stuff on here, without proof of it! Saw on Ft Bragg yesterday as my partner and i were turnin in old HMMWV parts, an International 9670. Was sharp! had no spoilers, both the stacks chrome! Was pullin a 40'flatbed, with shiny wheels all around!! Naturally, when we were finished, couldn't find him anywhere. wanted to talk to the owner, and get a few pics.
