  1. I had a bunch finished. It takes me on average, 45 days to build a kit. When I started back in the hobby about 8 years ago I was posting on another hobby board. I seen Dave Lindsay's comments about this board and started posting here less than a month ago. Now I know there are model magazines, I need to get my subscription started.
  2. This kit is redone by Model King.
  3. Do you use any posts or topics from the board in magazine stories or picture section? I would think that you would, as it would help both site and magazine to grow.
  4. Walls and floors are styroform boards from Wal-mart. They are 1/4 thick and I use super glue to build. Contact paper floor covering and on some walls. Little signs on walls are from the scrap book section of Hobby Lobby. Scale Equipment ltm has good stuff too. Check out my garage in the diorama board.
  5. Dave and Ken get a little done on the '71 GTX 440 6-pack. Tony does a little work on the Boss 429 as Snowball looks on. At the end of the day, John and Dave think about cleaning up the corner. Say good night to our friends, boys. Good night friends.
  6. LQQKIN GREAT MANNY !!!!
  7. Headlights are unpainted and glued in.
  8. Red is Testors enamel rattle can.
  9. Ya, I just love the stainless steel top.
  10. Gold stripes were rare. Bronze interior. Testors Red outside.
  11. Engine pic
  12. Yes on the new rear windows. I'll be using clear plastic from some of those food containers you buy at the deli in Wal-mart.
  13. Looks like everything is right so far. Like someone else on the board said, doesn't seem like they are ever done. I'd agree with that. Seems like there's always something new to add or finish up. Evergreen products are great for making work benches, tool boxes, and shelves. Some kits come with trophies, wrenches, and even surf boards.
  14. Research shows shaker hoods to be a rare option. Color is Go Mango. Engine is 440 six-pack. Chrome yet to do. The Monte's Motors crew ready to finish this one. New story posted on the Diorama board for todays adventures.
  15. Here we go with another short story from Monte's Motors. I very happy everyone is enjoying the stories. Check out some of the writings on the walls. Stuff I felt that is important reading. Dave tells John that this '90 Chevy 454 SS needs to be put outside to check on another project. John say, get it out then. Just bring it back later to finish it up. Sometimes it gets a little stormy around the shop. John wants to know why Dave brought in this old junk drag car. Dave checks out the gas tank and fuel line for leaks. Dave thinks we can save it. We need an engine and trans. It's a '71 T-bird. That rust can stay there, it will be lighter. Say good night to our friends, boys. Good night friends.
  16. Here's some more stories from Monte's Motors. Hope everyone enjoys. Dave(left) and John(right) get ready to head out and pick up a '64 Cadillac Coupe DeVille for work today. The shop truck is usually an issue on who gets to drive. Kens job today. Pull the engine on this '64 Caddy. Ken is the mechanic who does most of the shop work here at Monte's Motors. He's not much for having his picture taken.
  17. Monty, Here's two methods to try. Method 1 : I use this one mostly. Paint the background first. Most of the time that's black but, Some older cars are white and a person could get creative with a custom colored dash. Use a very small brush. VERY IMPORTANT !! Light is your friend. Make sure you can read the numbers and see the spaces in between. Kit quality comes into play here. When painting the numbers a very small amount of paint will work. Lightly brush the numbers so they turn white slowly. Latex works better than enamel because the latex drys faster. The brushing the numbers is like trying to brush the brush dry. Method 2 : Some say this is easier. Paint the numbers first. Yes, then backwash the black background like you would the grill on the front of the car. You can make thinned black. I start with a new bottle of black. Pour around a 1/3 of it out and fill with thinner. Some like it thinner than that. Make yours to suit you. Two choices to more detail. Hope this helps, Roger
  18. Actually the parking meter is outside the shop.
