crushed glass dirt racers

GOOGLE IT you can still buy glass flake paint. if you had the money in the early 70's you could get diamond dust added to your paint.there were some really nice metalflake paint jobs back then and some really ugly ones too -

death race 2000 cars
junkman1153 replied to junkman1153's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
you are kind of right all the cars were vw based with fiberglass bodies .on bad movies .com they mention that half the time the cars wouldn't run and often tow them to the top of a hill to shoot the scene -
the original death race 2000 . i know one was a karman ghia, and there was a corvette, and a dune buggy i think. i know some guys thinking of doing these highly modified cars as a group build they are looking for pictures to base the build on.

Hi. I don't know if this was a reigonal thing ,but growing up in Reading pa. we had regular organized model car races in the cement alleys. most cars were based on the flathead AND MODIFIDes from the Reading Fairgronds. the cars were mostly 32 ,34,36,and 40 fords and 37 chevies. it started out pretty much stock models over the years the models like the real cars became more and more modified, we used brass tubing to run the axels through, the plastic stock axels would break.the hard tires gave way to soft slot car tires or the very much desired 58's the soft tires that came in the early 58 impalas. the big problem was the cars turning . since the alley center was dished or bowl shaped somebody came up with wobble wheels stock wheels drilled out just enough to let the wheel wobble so as a car would run high in the alley it would turn back to center. some very talented builders emerged out of this. Larry Baisch of big donkey resins was one of the kids who raced back then

i agree there are a lot of kits mentioned that i personally have not had trouble with and there are a few on here that are well known for poor fit. and as we all know the re re releases are being made with dated molds with wear problems, still like them. the technology that has developed has made for a much better kit. and as far as price goes , i can only imagine the expense in developing a new kit ,from concept,to production is long and expensive.
-
the point here is conversation just one builders opinion of a certain car or kit .no one bashing a certain company. i find it interesting that one persons experience with a kit can be so different from somebody else. could be level of experience or just the desire to add that car or truck to your collection. Don you just miss the point these are kits that what ever the problems we have had we still buy them ,buld them ,sometimes cussing all the way. but a bad kit is a bad kit and we all have built them. iam sure you have built some real gems. my problem has come from kits that have been re re released always glad to see them back ,it gives my son and grandson a shot at some of my favorite kits without breaking the bank. just a side note my grandson was glad to see that some problems he encountered on his 57 chevy were common not just him.

a very fat man had tried everything to lose weight with very little success. one day he sees a friend who also had been very fat.his friend was quite slim,so he asked him how? his friend told him to go to a very special weight loss clinic. so he went.it was explained they use an incentive program and it might take weeks to reach his goal.early the next morning he was led to a very large room with a bed in the middle. a beautiful nude girl entered the room and said if you can catch me you can have me, and so the chase began. after 6 weeks he caught her. he was happy not just because he caught her ,but he lost a lot of weight. but still wanted to lose more. so the next morning he was waiting ,the door opened and a tall thin MAN entered the room dropped his robe and said if i can catch you i can have you.

69 and 70 Javelin Question
junkman1153 replied to dencon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
the 69 and70 should have the same basic interior tub.on the real car they only changed the interior upholstery slightly between those years -
hi i have seen a lot of reference to using Future .first i read they changed the name, second i have read using it for a top coat . over clear coat or instead of clear? using it as a sealer here again ,over the bare plastic before primer, over the prime coat, over an old paint job to prevent bleed through or reaction between paints.any prep before painting over the Future? also read you can use it to make windows look good after you sand scratches out of them .what grit do you use to remove fine scratches from windows.
