An answer to some of your questions, #3 All primer and paint was from tamiya rattle cans. #4 Yes, all body's were shiny and smooth.. until I placed them back in there boxes. NO, metallic/pearl/clear spray was ever used. So now, maybe I'am thinking after the body's get cleaned up again, I should only spray in the basement out of the elements as not to them harm anymore ? and as always, more comments are welcome. Greetings, Last summer I painted five kit body's with this brand of paint, all kits were painted outside in the garage on nice warm days with two of the kits being old vintage and the other three being new current issues and when done painting I allowed plenty of time inside the house to give the paint time to cure , I then placed the kits back in there boxes for building at a later date. Now, it is that later date and to my total dismay those painted body's have gone bad, the one old kit has lost it's shine and looks and feels like rough sandpaper the other four kits are in various stages from still shiny but crazed (like freezing rain on your auto) to a dull semi-sheen with blotches and roughness again. This I cannot figure out, they were all correctly washed, primed, painted with the same brand of tamiya paint products... so it's into a bucket of brake fluid we go and I start all over again, yikes !! And my second question is, do any of you use regular Rusty-O- (and 2X's) paint for your models ?? does it go down well ? or what other brand of rattle can paint do you use and like to paint with. Your comments and help on this issue .... Please and Thank You JOHN

Went to my local store a week and a half ago, picked up some items that i needed, looked at the DESERTER MPC pick up with a price of $29.99 thought i would go back and get it this week.... BUT WAIT what's this, it's NOW 39.99 yes an increase of TEN whole dollars!!!!! well if for any reason you want me to buy your kits, they all better have ORANGE stickers on them. Of to my LHS i go.... and please, you sell a book in your store, turn to the page and read the verse that says "THOU SHALL NOT STEAL" and practice what you preach.... that's my two cents and little rant. Greetings fellow modelers, As I build this trailer, there seems to be some fit issues with getting the trailer panels to line up correctly ... my first problem is with the front panel, it for some reason does not want to attach to any positive points..... second problem is the center support brace when I try to install this, it pushes the trailer sides out. Have any of you built this trailer and is there anything I've over looked ???? and yes I know, it's a little more over scale and more like a toy, but that's the fun part !! THANKS

Greetings, While looking at some old chevy camper brochures, I can see a splice at the front of the bed with added length and was wondering if there was any added on splices to the back of the bed that I can't see?? looks a little long in the back too. THANKS

Just a question to the mods and all the other builders, Could we add a FIRST RESPONDER topic to the forum ???? Would this intrest anybody who builds public service models. There was another website long ago about firetrucks, but it's gone now. What's your take on this ? ...Thanks

SPA BLUE = Thick, gloppy, gooey, instant orange peel, can plugged...DONE DITTO on Flat red primer, Nutmeg only minor problems with Black. GLOSS WHITE = no problems. SPECIALTY METALLIC SLIVER = (shinny cap,green and white label) lays down very well, no problems and on my second can Haven't had any major problems with rusty-o-'s and if the same color takes a dump for the second time, I just don't buy it anymore.

GREETINGS, May I make a suggestion about your camper siding, stop by your local hobby shop and take a look at Evergreen scale models sheet plastic, try .040 thick V-GROOVE plastic .125 spacing (1/25th) it"s just plain flat plastic with grooves, but it comes very close to small scale siding. I use that, as I also build camper models too. Hope that"s a little bit of help to you. Good Luck with your project...

Greetings, I've just read this in my newest copy of a model railroad magazine, the RUSTY'O company has made it public, to say that due to a slow sales decline of these three brands over the years, they have pulled the plug on them, and they will no longer be made. The Testor Company will focus on other supplies and tools. There you have it, so let's get to the hobby shop now, before the stock is all gone... GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Hello all, what is your comments on instant up tents?... looking to get away from all the old plug in poles (yes my tent is the old kind) and knowing that no tent is perfect, I always use tarps or rainfly on the tents with a coating of water repellant. Still using Coleman products, looking for the cabin style tent. Being in my late fifty's i want to keep it simple since I camp solo by myself. What brand do you use? THANKS

Greetings Dylan, Yes, I can help with a few tips, so here they are, PHOTOS; Take several pictures of a real ambulance , front and back then sides and don't forget some shots of just the extended top if it's on a van, also a few up close photos of the emergency lights is also helpful. GOOGLE; Google Images has thousands of pictures of any make or brand manufacture of ambulances you may want. E-BAY; Go there, and search for ambulance brochures, you'll come up with as many hard copies you might want to purchase for your project. SUPPLIES; You"ll need sheet and strip stock for the roof and round or square stock for the light pods And, if Greg happens to read this again. he has some photos of a custom stretch Chevy ambulance conversion I did a few years ago, maybe he"ll repost them again for all of us to see. It's not that difficult of a project, pretty simple and straight forward.... Good Luck .... JOHN

Went to the two closest stores in Michigan, completely picked clean of all kits within only two days of this post. EXECEPT for those lonely little aero-chief kits on the bottom shelf, so now I have a good and plenty stock of fire parts.

Greetings, Here is my idea, using the "Papa Truck" Kenworth Aerodyne, I would like too convert this one into a towing and recovery rig. Since the flatbed is already there, what kind of a winch cable setup would I need tucked up in the back of the truck ?? As I have some broken down big rigs in the junk box in need of a "tow". GREETINGS builders, Attended the toy show this past thanksgiving weekend, and came home with six little wonderful kits.... JO-HAN 1960 Desoto adventurer....sealed $20 ERTL Paystar 5000 dump truck... complete $30 AMT 5 car auto hauler.. (org. issue)... complete... $20 AMT Alaskan hauler... complete.. $30 AMT Peterbilt 359 with sleeper... complete... $30 AMT Sunoco chrome tanker... complete... $40 All six kits for only ...$170 dollars, not bad at all for the days take... 'cause that Alaskan hauler would go for at least 3-4 times that amount on e-bay,..... well happy modeling too me !!!

GREETINGS fellow builders, Just picked up the W-925 re-issue, and thought I would share some comments with you, so here we go. BOX ART- Still just about the same, some slight wording on box contents has been changed, OLD first issue box panel that showed the chassis and engine detail has now been changed on the NEW box to show other KW kits. PART SPRUES- OLD kits always had lots of parts loose in bag, as the NEW kit now has some what of a better sprue with parts attached so none get lost to the carpet or tile monster. CHROME- With the OLD kits you never knew if you were going to get dull ,weak or shiny chrome, with the NEW kit comes very bright plated chrome in plastic bags with a tissue paper protector. INSTRUCTIONS- The NEW kit instructions now have a paint guide on certain parts, as where the OLD ones did not show this. DECALS- In the OLD kits, I always found the decals to be light colored and too transparent and with the NEW kit they are very nice solid color decals with cab and sleeper stripes. TIRES- The OLD kits have FIRESTONE 10-20 tires, however these have been replaced in the NEW kits with skinny GOODYEAR 10-20 HI-MILER tires, may I suggest that we stuff these tires with something too give them fullness, and you don't have to cut out the center plug anymore. So, those are a few comments I wanted to share with all of you builders ........and ROUND2, now that we have this one, how about the MOVIN ON KW or even better yet, another re-tool for the KW ALASKAN HAULER ?????? ......THANKS

Greetings builders, I'am currently re-building the SMP version as a long bed wrecker, and using the AMT 1999 release of the '60 Chevy fleetside for a parts donor. My question is as what engine to use for the wrecker ? is the original engine a little to custom for this or would it be better to use the later release engine. Not to savy in the engine department, your comments and thoughts please. THANKS

Greetings, Went to a fire department surplus swap meet today, little did I know , that I would come home with the JO-HAN caddy ambulance (flat box)....and the MPC chevy mini-pumper (1969 issue)... both kits are complete and unbuilt, crisp white and clean plastic, great boxes with no stains or smells. And here's the real kicker..... the vendor was ONLY asking $30 for each one.. WOW !! what a deal. My luck of the draw today. You can't even get'em on e-bay for that price.

My renewal payment has been returned to me, do we have an address for the new printer? don't want to miss out on an issue.

AUTO HAULER- How well does this kit hold six autos? any extra bracing needed to support the weight of the models...I'am going to use six AMT snap Ford explorers...and how about replacing those softer tires with newer ones...as this is an older release of the trailer. PETE & KENWORTH WRECKERS- looks like big kits...any problems with assembly...just better take it slow and easy with these...and how about the tires in these kits too... KW is the old first release and PETE is the newer release. as always, your comments are welcome... and thanks builders....John
