  1. what did you make the hub caps out of? did you turn them? got any close up pics?
  2. i love it dave keep the pics coming!!
  3. yea baby moons are the easiest to make they are almost flat. i know that pegassas makes aluminum rims for there tires and so does MAS, but it is cheaper for me to make my own AND i can chrome plate them so they are chrome and not polished aluminum. or i could platinum plate them. hmmmmm
  4. ok guys sorry its been a while here are some pics as to whats been going on. got 1 turbo made, engine compartment about done have to move firewall back though, rad and elect. fan done, and the heads were modified to be wider like the 6.1L hemi instead of the 5.7L. all thoughts and suggestions welcome. thank you for looking. and thank you for your input. Bobbyj
  5. clerrmont is about an hr. from me strieght up sr50 and without a license and a ride it would be hard for me to show up. as much as i'd like to go. ill see what i can do. would like to see some pics of the show i didnt get to make it up there i was turning rims for my dart all day. lol
  6. yea sorry about the pics. they look better on the scale auto forum. thread is labeled the same on there under street machines/ hot rods and street rods.
  7. ok been a while here are some update pics. rims are almost all done just need to turn some hubs and then plate them. what do you all think?
  8. without a lathe???? mmmmm i dont think so. not ones that look great anyways. hmmmmm maybe soooo try and make a "punch" if you will. out of a chissel or something big round and metal. I would try that take a piece of stock the size you want your moon cap and shape the end of it on a grinder and clean up the grind marks with a finner file. then lay your pop can (painted side up) on a piece of 2x4 or other comprable piece of semi soft matierial and hit it with the punch u made and a hammer. it should come out the shape of the punch then just trim the access. should work. it does in my head anyway. lol try it let the rest of us know. it cant take but an hour to do it all. 9. Mr. show I have ALWAYS used lacquer paint and NEVER have used future on ANYTHING. I have always used dupli-color or plasti kote and never had a problem eating any of the plastic or making it soft. you do have to sand the whole body or at liest scuff it with a scuff pad of some sort. I use the grey ones sold at auto body supply stores.you also have to wash the car before you paint. you also have to spray at liest three coats remember lacquer shrinks when it drys so dont get to worried if it looks like your loosing detail wait for it to dry over night. 1:1 is good for any enamel. auto paint out of an airbrush is a little different. I use a lot of house on kolours and Kandys, and lacquers and acrylics they are a little thinner then enamels and should be mixt 2:1 for good atomization and color cover. back to the canned lacquers they are great they r all i use as far as primmer and clears (although i spray the clear into an airbrush jar) I have found that duplicolor is ok plasti kote is they way to go if you know where to get it esp. the clear it drys smoother then the duplicolor. you can spray plasti coat over duplicolor but not duplicolor over plastikote. confused yet? good. lol enamel over lacquer ok lacquer over lacquer better lacquer over enamel? break out the easy off and bondo you WILL have pits int the car if you catch it soon enough. so that would be a no go! anything else I am forgetting? lacquer clears dont dry smooth!!!! because again lacquer shrinks. so you have to polish it. some people use a polishing kit. I dont like them they are a pain in the neck. I use a good clean soft cotton rag old t-shirts work best on the tip of my finger and regular car wax NON-SYLICONE. the 2001 something another works best. sorry cant remember what it is..... I know that it is in a BRIGHT NEON GREEN bottle that says 2001 real big on the front.really you can use any polish to do this but you dont want a "polish" you want more of a "buffing compound" but not to "gritty". polishing a car this way takes about 12 hrs. to do the whole car. but it goes fast sitting in front of the TV. stay off the corners they get rubbed even though you try no to. sorry its so long. lol I just like talking about paint.lol I never understood the whole "future" thing some people swear by it. idk maybe its me. if there is anything i mist and/or any questions about my process let me know. 10. hey guys, just came into this thread sounds like you guys are planning something way overdue!!! central FL needs a club bad! I am in Hudson and use to belong to sun coast model car club when I was younger. they actually have a show this weekend at the FL state fair grounds! they had members all over and at each meeting would decide where the next was going to be. one night would be at a library at a central location for everyone then they would alternate between member's houses that could host it. that worked out pretty good for them. I would like to get in with you guys that would be cool however the 19th doesnt work for me I have a horse show out of state. but i can catch up on here.
  11. nice work so far cant wait to see the rest of it!!!!
  12. thanx guys these are a help. i should just try to call them and see where i get. you guys have been a great help. Bobby Jernigan
  13. Hello all!!!! I am MAYBE half way done with my Dart and starting to look for ref. pics and parts and supplies for my next model as it will take me A LONG TIME to build. the car I am doing is this years 2010 Ridler Award winner "Gold Digger" it IS THE most beautiful car I have seen built TO DATE. I have found a lot of pics of her I can not find anything on the chassis. I e-mailed the builder T&T customs in Canton GA and am trying to get some from them... no luck yet. anyways here is a quik pic of her. please help me out here guys. lets ee what we can find
  14. thanks dave. cool video. i think we can build one smaller though. lol I was going to go with all Viper suspension but now I THINK i am going to go with making something and using the new charger srt as a template. esp. since I believe I am going to use atleast the block and do something with the newer hemi maybe twin turbo or something. of coarse id have to order more radiator core for the intercooler. hmmmmm decisions decisions.....
  15. talk to Bob K. this morning..... he said that he wouldnt put it past Augie and it would be possible maybe not in 1/25 scale but it is possible to do it in a slightly larger scale. he said that he has seen motors with working fans in 1/25 1/24 scale run on watch batteries. but he is unsure about the SBC. Bobby P.S. Bob K. says hello to all!!! I think i am going to go with the tangerine with a cream top and int. scale-master Bob Being almost a mentor in MY modeling world along with my father said that you were a EXTREMELY good craftsman!!! AND that I can and will learn A LOT from you SR. with that being said thank you all for your input on the build so far. and I am sorry if I got everyones hopes and dreams up. however I am glad I could give you a laugh and get your gears turning.
  16. ok i will ask him. here are some pics for a color for the dart. I dont know if i want to go with kandy apple red. here is my other option. over what do you guys think?
  17. I am looking going to do some digging around my self. I could have been mistaken though I was just a little kid when I saw it. it may have been steam powered or had tiny elect. motors in the base running it like the airplain motor he did. but ill do some looking another thing I'll ask Bob K. about.
  18. OH DUH!!!! lol I will tell him you said hello.
  19. I will. what was your real name? I talked to him the other day. last time I saw him ha was my dad's best man in his wedding. how long has it been since you have talk to him?He got married him self about 3 years ago i think its been.
  20. I will have to do some looking around but I am "almost" theres that word again. it was 1/25 scale I did see it once at a NNL in bermingham I believe. I'll Call Bob Kurnow maybe tonight and find out for sure. I actually have thought about building a running motor to put in a car myself......kinda. the dig differance would be is it would be 2 stroke. lol easier to do. but they make pistons small enough. they run them in little tiny steam engines and even gas plains. anyways enough about all that I am going to try to get some paint on the frame in the next few days. after i get the floor pan built and then ill paint the floor pan. I have been toying with the idea of house of colors Kandy tangerine instead of Kandy apple red.what do you guys think? Bobby
  21. looks good so far keep em coming!!!! Bobby
  22. i use brass for strength and just to be different. augie has used brass for a lot of sttuff. he once made a running 1/25 scale sb chevy!!! i use a micro torch not a soldering iron. brass is just a stronger medium and be a collision tech and metal fab. its just second nature to work with metal its more fun and easier. plus it make for a go convo piece to say something is brass. and its easier to plate when wanted. brass door hinges are the best you dont have to worry about them breaking when you put the door on and take it off a lot. the rad. core is see through its detail master rad core it is directional. ill try to get a better pic up later of it. great questions love answering them any others? Bobby JERNIGAN p.s. yes I used a dial caliper to mic the frame and drew it out with suttle changes i wanted to make i.e. slight tub raised the front frame area up some to make it easier to lower. i then made a jig with those measurments on a piece of 1x6 and used finishing nails to hold it while i did my soldering. ill get some pics up of that too.
  23. I use a silver solder. any solder should work. def have to solder though make sure parts are clean and use lots of flux.
  24. I can get you some pics of this car if you want for referance. My buddy owns classic mustangs in new portrichie FL he has 2 of them!!!! its on a roticery now so it would be a good time for frame shots!!!! going with a big block? he is. let me know what you need. Bobby
