  1. Hey Ewaskew, This is going to good, I like all that you have done to it. I did have one quesiton though, You said you are doing the interior with some kind of material, can you explain to me how you are going to do that? I am looking to do some interior work myself on my custom 49' merc. Thanks and good luck.
  2. Hey there, from what I have seen so far, your doing great! Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see it when its all finished .
  3. Hello all, Hey People thanks for the tips. I am on my way to learning a whole lot more .
  4. Hi walt, I can't wait to see it! Good luck .
  5. Hey there, Lookin good .
  6. Hey LSU fan, Thanks for the Tips! I ended up using the seats and repainting the them white (Again), I have been working on it for two days now It's almost complete, I am just now tryng to decide if I want to put a coat of clear gloss over it. To All: Here's what I have so far Keep in mind that the lighting was different on all the Pictures, But think the color matches up well enough. Still I am seriously considering putting a coat of Clear Gloss over it, Give me some feed back here, To Be or not to be a coat of clear gloss . Also I am waiting for the AMT 49 Merc Kit to come in so I can get to work on the front and rear Fenders, Every thing else will take time to get, This will definintely not be an over night project so I will keep everyone updated as I get the parts. Any way thanks for your comment LSU Fan, I will PM you if I have any questions, or need help in any way:).
  7. My Digital Camera is real cheap, so I do apologize that the pictures and lighting aren't very good, but I will take your advice The next time I Post my photos here, Thanks.
  8. Thanks to the thread Back to the Basic's by Mark Taylor, I learned allot and applied it here on this model. But everyone that has responded to my questions have also contributed to the knowledge I gained and applied to this model. Thanks to this forum I think I did a really good job, Better than if I would have started with out the forum. Okay the next three photo's, You can see the cast mold is white, It ended up having a few burs that I did have to sand down. other than that is was a very clean cast. The next photo is the hood after washing in dish soap, Now before I move on I will have to say that LSUfan 1981 suggested that I go with the Dupli-Color Dark Shadow Gray Metallic, Okay I could not find it anywhere here, So here's what I have done, I ened up going back to the Hobby Lobby, and instead I got the Model Master Gunship Grey along with Model Master White Primer, The White Primer is all that they had. Also since I have learned about the Embossing Powder I tryed to find some there to, and all I could get was Sand in black. Well for the third Picture, I used the White Primer and as Suggested to me by Niteowl7710, I put both paints in luke warm water and shook the hell out of them . So this photo is of the Test I have done on the Hood. And honestly folks I was amazed at how well the Primer and Paint went onto this model, I barely had any Orange peels, at least I could scratch them off with my finger nail, and after Curing the Paint in the Kitchen Oven, I have to say that this is far most the best paint job I have ever done! thank you all for the tips.
  9. Hellos all! I just got the 49 Mercury Special Edition Kit from Revell today! I also ordered an AMT 49 Mercury, so I can use the Cattle Guard Front and and rear Bumpers I expect that will be on the way soon. Costumized Build! I am Customizing this kit to be the Awsom 50 from the movie "Cobra" with Sylvester Stallone. But there are a few parts that I still need to complete this dream kit of mine, I still need to obtain the 50' Merc Dashboard, Parts by parks has the Flat hubs that I need to buy still, and I am considering making the interior just as accurate as the exterior, so I need to find Driver and Passenger Racing seats, Seat belts and a Temperature gauge. The rest of how it looks on the inside I can just get from the movie. Nobody likes reading too long a page so I am going to separate the Photo's and explain further what I have done. Here are three of the starting out photo's. Every thing was in the box.
  10. Ah, Na.. it's okay to mention it .
  11. [quote name='MB_ChargerChick' timestamp='1285305585' post='366898') Also, here is the BMF website, it can provide some more helpful tips too of course lol: Bare-Metal Foil
  12. I thank you all for your suggestions I will store every bit of that info for when I start up my Project tommorow:). Thanks again:).
  13. Actually I agree with Zukiholic, Ever since I started here, I have had very nice and helpful people on this site answer any questions that I may have, and Kudo's for that. Still I find what you have told us here upsetting, I am not a master Modeler myself so who am I to judge anyone like that, you are right, it will discourage the young from attempting it again. Now if the parents are more understanding of the Issue they can respond accordingly to help raise the spirit of the child on his model, and encourage him to better his practice. No instead you get some jerk off's ; like Zukiholic pointed out that wish they did have the time to model, ether that or their expectations on these shows is very high. Uhhh I hate rude people, But I love this forum !! So I am going to thank everyone here for being very positive and supportive of the Hobby, it's what keeps it going! But now that I am thinking about it, Is there a club that does these kinds of shows everywhere! I myself have always wanted to build a model for a show, But in Casper Wyoming I don't think there are any? I could be wrong though, and it now seems to me that Spectator's expectations are high on perfection of a model. It's one thing to say "uhh that's really bad" it's another to say "Hey I think you can do better", Those spectators there wre very rude.
  14. Hello all, I have been reading up on many topics and tips and tricks for hours! I have been following the back to the basics topic for modelers as a whole, My new question here is What is BMF, How does it work, and is there just the chrome foil color to it or can you get it in a variety of colors?
  15. From what I have seen here you have done a better job than I would have done, of course I know the feeling of being frustrated with a kit . I think this will turn out great!
  16. Allright, I am convinced, I am going to order White Pearl and get a white Primer, I have wanted something of a better Sheen and shine in white for my Testarossa Project that I will have underway soon. That stuff looks amazing!
  17. Hey Ben, thanks for that tip, I found the website and saved it back, yes the disc's are there for $12.00, not bad, this is going to be one costly project, but it'll be worth it just to get the car as close to accurate as possible .
  18. Hello all, I do have a question in mind, Since I have modeled, I have never really learned how to porperly place decals, I know this much though, if you keep the place wet where you are going to place a decal you can position it right, but what is a proper tool to use to move them around? I have used exact-o knives and well you can guess where that leads . And since I have messed up my last model, I really began thinking about it, would a Cotton Swab be better for moving and positioning the decal? Any suggestions will be helpful . David.
  19. My thoughts are with you and your wife Johnny.
  20. Ahhh, that is so cool! I think that you did exceptionally well . Still I am wondering how you came by the hood scoop? Was it allready added to the kit? Also I note here just now one of the pictures shown earlier of some movie shots, so it leads me to wonder if there is a front bumper that exists similar to the one on the car, and would it fit onto Revell's Kit? I think those who have done a hundred or more models can answer this question. Still I love what you have done. I am going to keep your paint suggestion in mind when I get this project underway. Thank you for showing it to us .
  21. Hello all, Thank you for sharing your insight and your knowledge with me, I found it most informative and it does not matter if your responses are big or small, I was not dulled by anything here, I wanted to know something and you have responded to my questions accordingly, I thank you all for that. It's correct, this is a very friendly forum, I am also on many different forum's, this site and one other, are the best, and very positive forum's I have been on. As said before though I don't want to be bothersome, I just wanted to get up to speed on what everyone is talking about, and learn a thing or two along the way. And thank you for welcoming me. I hope to learn more as I go along. It's sad here in good old Casper Wyoming, I moved back here about a couple of years ago, only to find that allot of the Hobby places have ether moved out of town, or closed down completely, and Walmart's out here have taken model kits off of the shelves, so all I have is the Hobby Lobby, and there's not so much of a great selection but there are some things there, Testor's is the only paint that I have seen there, I am thinking that I would like to try Tamiya paints, I will look for a site online that has them and order some when I get the chance. I am expecting to see my Miami Vice Ferrari Testarossa from Monogram very soon in the mail, uhh, yes I do order kits from Ebay too. Anyway I do have left over Testors paint that I will be using, still I am temped to order some Tamiya spray paint. I wanted to spray paint the Body of the Testarossa a better sheen of white than the molded plastic look. Though I have never used Primer, I have knowm those who do, I will seriously think about using Tamiya Primer too. As far as the brushes go when I got he first Testarossa kit I did buy some fine point brushes from the Hobby Lobby though I cannot tell if they are of good quality, but I know they do work for those small hard to paint area's. Now that I am thinking about it, I did run into two things on the first Testarossa kit spray painting it. The can Spit or spurt, and Orange peels, though I understand that these are not 100% avoidable, is there a better way to prevent these? Thanks again guys I am on my way to learning here .
  22. Yes that's it! That's the kit! Wow you still have the box? I lost my model in the two moves I had to make, I remember now that all I had for paint was red, silver and black, ah that model I built had finger prints all over it, from the glue and from touching the Paint job I did to the exterior as well:), but I was proud of that model and it was my first.
  23. Hello all, I am sorry, I don't mean to be too bothersome to anyone, but since I started out here, I did have a few questions in mind, and maybe the general discussion is not the place for them but I thought I would ask, and let you all share your great knowledge with me. Paints. Okay I have seen many here on this forum speak of getting certain paints here, So tell me what is Tamiya, and give me input here, is it a better paint? or is it just a preference to some? I have heard others here speak about Testors new paint? Could anyone shed some light about that? I bought a Testors paint set that was good for Exterior Lights (IE, Taillights) and interior (IE, Seats, dash etc). Before I threw the Testarossa out, I thought these were great! I wanted a paint that would match the Taillight colors and match the Interior; which it did. Um anyway. Also mentioned here allot was styrene? Did I spell that right?, go ahead and tell me about this to. If all else I will just look at some tutitorials here on this site if I find I need to get some "How to" infromation. Thank you.
