i have trouble seeing stuff in 1/25th... man, that's tiny.

that emblem on the driver's side and on the back door is the Lotus icon.... i'd hazard a guess that truck isn't running a flathead four cylinder. that "other" model car magazine ran an article on a modeler who specialized in "restoring" these rods to stock a long time ago.... that modeler is more than likely a member here who hasn't chimed in yet. the AMT '33 Willys are difficult to backdate because of the flip front end and the widened hood panels to clear the V8's. Revell's Anglia based kits are a good starting point but still need extensive reworking; their Stone/Woods/Cook Willys has a nonstock frame but the body is proportioned correctly. they all might lend themselves to curbside stock if you just replace the frame with styrene stock.

this is the first bottle of this stuff (used up three already) that has given me this particular gripe: it sometimes flows normally (like thinned white glue) and sometimes it flows like WATER... usually spraying bubbles of glue across my "glass" while i'm trying to get it in place... necessitating backing up, cleaning that part and starting again. and it's not consistent in it's consistency... aggravating enough to halt progress for the night. i've read that some of you use clear paint... bottled clearcoat? for this job. does it tack up quickly? more importantly, is it forgiving of clumsy nearsighted old men with failing eyesight?

your builds are the epitome of clean. i like these Oz cars.... i, too, wish we had better access to non-US subject matter.

affirmative.... now, THAT is a "Most Beautiful Roadster".... -
that came out excellent. love it!

IIRC; the kit was intended to be able to recreate both eras, and unintentionally they set the ride height at rubber bumper level. i had a '78 that i was backdating to chrome bumper spec and wasn't even concerned with the height difference so much as the unnecessary extra weight of the rubber bumpers. other than your ride height, how is that kit for building?

i compared the kit frame with some AMT '68 Mustang frame pieces and the next one i build is getting a better rear axle. the front subframe from the Mustang is too narrow to simply cross over the parts; it could be cut apart like i did mine and add individual pieces. i don't have a '66 Nova to compare parts; perhaps they'll work as well.

Revell '68 Mustang GT 2'n'1 kit observations
62rebel replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i was kidding a little about the front axle/hole in the block; you can't actually see either one right off the bat when it's assembled. the engine does come off a little weird.... i like the valve covers and might swap some parts box plain jane FE ones for these; the air cleaner as well. i'm trying to figure out the best way to modify those beautiful GT styled steel wheels for another build... it occured to me, that the wheel design does away with any sprue attachment to the actual RIM section... as does the Moebius Hudson design. not every quirk in this kit is bad! -
i used to get calls for the local taxi company... i wonder how many times they got called back and cussed out because the cab didn't show up?

red sky at night i.e. westward at nightfall, at least in the Northern hemisphere, usually indicates that any storms, etc, had passed and the morning should break clear. red sky in the morning; i.e. eastward at daybreak, usually means you're in for a rough day at sea. at least from what the navy told me, and from being a Northern hemisphere Atlantic sailor. we're currently enjoying a rather nice spell, it's been 15-20 degrees above seasonal norm for the last three weeks or more. of course, we still have two good months where we could be wearing longjohns and coats. the electric/gas company hasn't made a profit off me this winter....

if only whoever was so inclined, would include a six cylinder engine with manual trans option......

well; the backup lights WERE optional... looks great, otherwise.

Revell '68 Mustang GT 2'n'1 kit observations

Out Of The Box, it will be, mostly, then. another Bullitt Mustang for my shelf! -
excellent background info; thanks!

i bought this one today in case i could use it to restore the AMT Iron Horse, but on inspecting the kit contents and engineering, i think i'm better served building this one OOB and using AMT Shelby's to do the other task... this has to be the first Revell kit i've encountered that uses thick metal axles front and rear... AMT snipers would love the "hole in the block" this kit has! it would seem that the kit is almost engineered along diecast construction lines... lots of interlocking parts, deep interior plate... BUT, and i repeat BUT i am not hacking on this. this kit almost looks "idiot-proof"... i'll see if i can prove that later on, as sometimes i can be quite the idiot. another observation: there's a set of Torq-Thrusts in this kit... a GT steering wheel... and a grille delete plate. which leads me to ask if this is the Frank Bullitt car with extra parts? none of these parts are called out in the instructions. another observation: this is the only Revell kit i've encountered that uses the hollow tires and the odd wheel design similar to the Polar Lights snap kits design... the no-name standard tires are visually too darn small for a big block Mustang IMHO... so a set of AMT Goodyears are going on instead. i've explained before that i shied away from Revell kits for a long time due to a misconception i held about them, to my own loss. this looks like a good kit even with the odd design quirks....

Uh oh! Gregg's in trouble again!
62rebel replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
you in a HEAP a' trouble, boy... -
like your Mustang, this one is art. i love that induction setup... it was included in one of AMT's Camaros but i can't recall which one, and i'd love to have one on hand ... you need a Challenger and a Javelin, now.....

that "other" magazine ran an article that may or may not have been written by one of our members on doing this very conversion... very instructive and makes me want to sacrifice a couple of Mustang kits to do one as well!
