  1. i'd go with flush-fitting skirts on this style.... just me. those break up the flow imho.
  2. fine job, nick; darn fine job.
  3. that one showed me the nice aluminum carb top that i think can be fabbed out of one of my ubiquitous '49 Ford air cleaners; the hoses and actual air filter i'd need to fake.
  4. i must have a dozen Paxton style and maybe four McCulloch style superchargers, mostly from the AMT '57 Ford and the Surf Woody.... would love to sneak one into a "real" prototype build but not finding much to go on except Studey r-3 and r-4's. the carb box in the AMT '57 is apparently not typical of ANY installation.... the Studebaker installation has a carb cover but looks very small. also holding a few Latham coaxial supes... not much to look at. if it wasn't apparent already, i prefer hiding powerful engines under stock hoods.... preliminary research is telling me that the AMT '57 "paxton" supe isn't a match for any particular design at all. wonderful that i saved so MANY of them. the boxes are virtually non-descriptive of anything actual, and the kit doesn't supply the unique air cleaner for the supercharged 312.
  5. you could argue the fact that it's not original till the cows come home. that "original" car, be it a Mustang, MG, Firebird or Camaro or any number of thirties cars came down the line with absolutely no rustproofing and any number of flaws overlooked in the initial build in the interest of getting it off the line and onto the showroom floor. any number of professionally restored cars or pro-built rods out there are hiding rust that didn't pose a problem ten or fifteen years ago, but inevitably is eating it's way through to the surface. i'd rather forfeit a VIN to make a brand new, jig-welded car from the ground up MY way. a strong 5.0 with EFI, AOD, disc brakes and a 9 inch rear, with built in a/c.... yeah, i'd pay 30g for that compared to ANYTHING available on the showroom floor today.
  6. howzabout the chrome reverse wheels and wide whites from the Revell Merc? i love those, but finding the right build to use them on is problematic.
  7. the two i bought at the show/swap cost less than retail at the LHS..... still expensive imo but less than retail. when i feel like building but lack ready cash, i go through my old builtups and see which ones just don't satisfy me.... many of my models are on their third or fourth go-around.
  8. Mobieus could sell the tires from the Hudson kit by themselves.... hint hint.
  9. waiting for paint to dry.... black on black. going to use Cragar S/S mags and MPC Polyglas GT's to represent what i want my '62 to look like when it's done.
  10. i hope these help illustrate what i was talking about; even at that, the shock towers are not the correct shape/contour at the bottom., nor are the shock top brackets on top of them. sometimes just getting a representation is tough enough. i should have researched more on the availability of one of Perry's Resins Falcon engines.... this is turning out to be a well-detailed curbside !!
  11. well, here goes nuffin. HEY, it works again. see ya later.
  12. terry's builds look so real that i can hear chickens clucking and cows munching alfalfa through the fence right over there.....
  13. "shoot out" infers that B & C were able to open or return fire.... Ranger Hamer never offered them the opportunity as they were infamous for shooting with little or no provocation. it was an ambush and no quarter was given.
  14. so what happens if we aren't on photobucket or fotki or anything else other than our own files? say, for instance, i just want to import straight off my pc?
  15. my wife told you that Wile E is my idol, right?
  16. the actual engine bay of a Falcon (or Mustang, Cougar, Comet, etc) is made up of flat panels that are attached to the firewall and core support and the front fenders hang on them. the shock towers are built more or less in the middle of them, and these panels are built on top of what make up the frame rails. the Ranchero chassis plate has simple round wheelwells. i found my digital cameras and be darned if both have dead batteries. i compared the '68 chassis to the Falcon parts and they'd require as much or more work to look right. i am using some front suspension parts from one of my '68's but i think it's one of the gt500 kits.
  17. well. color ME stupid. not only do i not flip the darn sheet OVER and see the very detailed callouts.... i post a thread on it. herp-de-derr. you may return to your regularly scheduled programming (and ignore the idiot behind the curtain).
  18. sorry, no pics yet, i need to find my camera.... but i traded for a '62 Falcon promo that is getting as much detail as i can manage to fit into it.... first on the agenda was deleting the deluxe trim and smoothing out 50 years of kind and gentle play wear...... i substituted a '61 Ranchero chassis plate which i've been heavily modifying to more accurately represent a Falcon.... ever so carefully and slowly sliced the hood open and removed the front screw posts, and fabricated a full engine bay from sheet plastic and bitsa. getting the chassis plate lined up with the interior tub floor required a quarter inch of plastic spacers glued to the chassis.... wow. and now, in the middle of creating some front suspension, i realize i don't have a Falcon six cylinder engine to put in this darn thing. soon as i find my flipping camera i'll show you what i have done.
  19. i'm utterly delighted with the return of concise and detailed instructions.... takes me back to my first kits. what does bother me is that there are no color callouts at all... only the photos on the box to direct us. while there have been some attempts by members to provide some guidelines, i'm relying on what i can find in Collectible Automobile for examples. i've only opened and examined the kit through the plastic bags.... well; i AM impressed and hope that Mobieus grows to challenge the "other guys" with their selection.
  20. i'm not going to pass it up because it might not appeal to me OVERALL... nothing that can't be substituted for something else or painted in a different scheme. Stacey is one of the few TV personalities that seem to be genuinely nuts about cars.
  21. i was organizing my tires and found some old vinyl redlines, two, in good shape, and a pair of JoHan dragmaster cheater slicks, and some dual-pattern JoHan front drag tires (firestone one side, goodyear the other) , and some of what appear to be AMT or JoHan compact car tires, smaller than usual and plain sidewalls. i'll loan them out for anybody wanting to make masters from them. PM me if interested.
  22. Jantrix and RSSChris have both sent me some excellent trades in recent days. i recommend them both highly. thanks, guys!
  23. i remember hitting K-Mart around 1987 or so when they were doing post-Christmas clearance and picking up A-Team vans and TJ Hooker cop cars for.... 25 cents each. true story. they looked at ME like i was the crazy one.... at one time i had eight built cop cars and ten or so vans in different schemes, so, YEAH, i'll be grabbing some vans.
  24. cosmic.... will they include the ability to build the Chevy as a window van again? that would unfortunately render my revised A-Team van moot null and void.... not necessarily a bad thing considering how poorly i've done on it so far.
  25. you'd have to read his whole thread on the Tatra he built to fully appreciate the process.... it is artistry.
