Insulting is more like it. No sarcasm intended. And you wonder how it gets brought up...? Now I am sure about the mass solidity of the brick as it correlates to previously discussed grey matter. -

Well, since you asked... People think you are a know-it-all because you respond to nearly every post acting like you have answers to their questions, often you are wrong with what you respond with. Then you argue the point as if you actually knew what you were talking about. (Many of us can see you clearly don't.) Know-it-all's are always getting into arguments because they don't know what they think they know, and they don't even know what they don't know. That is how you got in this discussion, but I would not be surprised to see you attempt to escalate it into an argument. How did it get brought up? You keep bringing it up by posting incorrect info as if you know what is factual, and then you get corrected, and have to try to sound relevent with another post made of probably just parroted "opinions". -

I bet the brick has more knowledge cubed, it looks like it could be older, maybe more mature? But ironically, I'm not sure it is not as dense. -

What exactly are you agreeing with? This time? Wouldn't be the first time you agreed with both sides once it was pointed out thet you did not know what you were spouting off about. Parroting things you heard is far from knowing what the heck you are babbling about. And it does nothing to make you more knowledgeable either, even if you think it does. But then what does a 13 year old who can't even fix his bicycle know about real car mechanicals that all but disappeared long before he was born? You think you get all the B.S.? Funny, I was under the impression you were providing it with most of your posts. Yeah, go figure... Or just go... -

As someone who owned a couple of those cars, (built over a quarter century before you were even born) and drag raced one of them, I can state firsthand they were cheap and poorly built cars. Putting a more powerful engine into them (as I did) results in the weaker parts becoming even more apparent. I don't know why I continue to be astounded by your lack of actual knowledge and ability to illustrate it. -
Thanks guys. The Tamiya paint is very workable stuff... It needed seatbelts, but I didn’t want to put something in that would make the rest of the weak details look even worse. So I made these decals, and I made them purposely thick so they would not conform as well to the seat ribbing, so they would look more like they had some substance, even though they are still two dimensional. First round of experimenting, I think I’m on to something for those cases where it isn’t worth the extra work to weave up a full set of harnesses… But they are a tad bit time consuming to cut out. You can see I also have “built” the “engine”. It is pretty much two dimensional too…

SO YOU FINISHED YOUR MODEL, NOW WHAT?
Scale-Master replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They go into the case after being photographed. They come out once a year to be cleaned, maybe rearranged. Some get to go to contests, (yes contests for competing against other builder's work). Shocking isn't it? -
who's seen "Flight of the Phoenix" ?
Scale-Master replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
One thing that is different between the car story and The Flight of the Phoenix is that the aircraft engineer designed flying models. Ones that need to be airworthy enough to fly without pilot corrections. I have seen too many static car builders that have no concept of how real vehicles actually work. Their models may look nice, but are far from being able to function if they were built in real life. -
Bud Light livery this time… Another “vintage” resin kit. Decals nearly all had to be replaced, only a couple were salvageable with significant doses of clear, but fortunately I was supplied with an extra aftermarket set so I only had to make a few of the decals.

Looks like you were able to sort out the paint issues on the engine cover. It all looks really good from here.

I have built a couple of those 1/12 Mini's. Your idea of swapping in a motorcycle engine sounds very cool. The kit is not overly complicated and is similar in detail level to the bikes, so that kind of swap make perfect sense.

I thought another coat was needed since it did not dry as glossy as I hoped. So late yesterday I color sanded it with 1200 wet, and then airbrushed another 2 coats of the same TS-44. After drying overnight, it looks like this. While it is dry enough to safely handle, now it will sit for a while to cure.

I have heard the Candies & Hughes funny car with the stock promo based body is pretty rare and cannot be re-released. Those Old Pro Nova kits were everywhere when I was younger, and still have several. In fact I see a lot of things listed in this thread that I would not have thought were all that rare, but then I still have my original first issue Gremlin that was just re-released...

The New NASCAR
Scale-Master replied to Patrick2005's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If they are going to run more road courses in NASCAR, (and I am all for it) I think they should disallow ringers like Boris Said and a few other big name road racers from running only those events. I have the utmost respect for those guys, but a ringer is a ringer. All drivers should run the entire season, all tracks to be eligible. Maybe some can't turn right too well? -
High tech on a retro ride Joe? I think there are a lot of people who would laugh in your face or snicker behind your back with a goofy claim like that. Whatever happened to building models in realistic terms? A bigger question is: Why lie about why something you made when it looks wrong to those who know what they should look like? (Or anyone for that matter.) I plan to try to make accurate parts so I don't have to make up fibs... I do like most of what you have done on your build Darryl, except the beads that is...

MiniCraft 1/16 Kits...
Scale-Master replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have built several, including many of the box art models for Minicraft. Most are older tools but some have new parts and some cleaning up. While they are not really the easiest for beginners to get great results from, seasoned builders willing to put in the effort can make nice models out of them. The working parts often lead to fiddly issues, but if you build them with the doors fixed it can make assembly much easier. -
who makes the best impreza sti kit?
Scale-Master replied to MOPAR_KID96's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have only had experience with the Tamiya kits, but they are nice enough that I don't need to look any further... -
It needs brightly colored wheels… I used Camel Yellow as the main color. With a wash of Transparent Yellow and gunmetal for the lugs. After I sanded the tire treads, I gave them a wash of Grimy Black. I still need to do something to the sidewalls… I primed and wet sanded the body a few times until it was smooth and relatively even and symmetrical. I used a base coat of Tamiya AS-19 Intermediate Blue, since the black plastic showed through the gray primer. This color covers well and dries to a satin finish. Here you can see the front part is the Intermediate Blue and the deck has the second light coat of TS-44 Brilliant Blue. Like Mark Taylor, I build up the color in light coats. He tends to go with even lighter coats than I do, it works exceptionally well for him as I have seen the final outcome in person. You can see the orange peel in the wet TS-44, it will dry smoother. Here are both body parts with about six light coats, the last was a bit wetter just recently applied. This may be all it needs, or it may need more. While it is just dry enough to carefully handle in this photo, it needs to dry more to see how much the paint will shrink and maybe smooth out. I’ll decide in a few hours once I see how it dries.

It is a complete kit, (except for the parts that are short shots...) Just pulled it from my collection, I probably aquired it shortly after it was released. You could say I'm "well stocked" when it comes to kits.
