  1. Less than two and a half months after deciding to revisit this project that had been sitting dead in the water for about 14 years, it is done. If I had known it would only take that long I would have done it long ago, (well if I had the time to). Actual time invested in building it is well over two years though. Started as a Monogram 1/12 ’69 Z/28. I used an engine from the Monogram ’67 Corvette and reworked it as well as adding a C4 Corvette front suspension made of aluminum and replacing the rear suspension fabricated from brass. Many scratch-built parts were made for it and several hundred fasteners and pieces were machined. For the details of the construction, and better photos of the interior and chassis, here is the link to the in-progress thread: http://www.modelcars...showtopic=48100 I tried some shots taken at a distance to get a lower angle, but they distort the proportions somewhat. Here are some finished engine shots:
  2. Fastbacks are cool, but the spoiler is on backwards, even if it is from a Camaro.
  3. Thanks guys. It is 1/12 scale. Or close to it...
  4. See you there Danno! Remember last time I showed there John?
  5. That pattern on the seat inserts works very well. Nice shading/detailing on the chassis parts too.
  6. 1/64th scale. Slightly raised the ride height. Made/added some decals.
  7. I agree about going with the black trim. The chrome would clash a bit with the look you have already started.
  8. I like the contrast between the wheel centers and the trim rings. Makes me wish I had started mine when you asked now... Oh yeah, nice nuts too...
  9. You can try here: http://www.iconautomotiveminiatures.com/
  10. So this is going to be an actual replica, not a wild custom? Looks like you already have some great reference to make it accurate, if you can go that route...
  11. Too funny, I have been airbrushing for over 43 (human) years.
  12. Isn't that the old Renwall kit?
  13. I have been using this combo for over 40 years... Shooting on raw plastic rarely presents a problem, but recently some of the plastics from China have caused some minor crazing issues. Tamiya Fine Primer works great as a barrier. I don't use a dehydrator, but I do wait a week or sometimes more before working the paint job.
  14. There may be more F1 content here than appears at first glance... Here are some I have done recently. The first is from a kit provided by our own Gregg-the-big-Kahuna... http://www.modelcars...fw&fromsearch=1 http://www.modelcars...us&fromsearch=1 http://www.modelcars...ll&fromsearch=1 This one is still in progress, but I was working on it yesterday even so... http://www.modelcars...opic=25777&st=0
  15. The bubbles looked like Tamiya paint put on too heavy... it happens. Easy Off/over cleaner does not work well to strip the TS colors, alcohol works much better. But I'd just sand that out and recoat instead of stripping. A lot less work...
  16. What paint are you using for the orange?
  17. I used Easy-Off oven cleaner and mineral spirits to strip it, but I suspect much of the damage resulted from the clear being too hot for the dry but uncured enamel metallic blue. Much of the etching is in the same areas that were disturbed in the blue.
  18. New frame and running gear with a Hemi under an old salvaged original steel body. New deck lid… The body is a left over item from a paint job that went south when I was building the box art models (this was supposed to be the metallic blue one). After the project was done I tried to strip it and the result was the nasty texture on the body. So I shot it silver and did a little more distressing and detailing. Also had fun ratty-ing up the roof panel and the interior. Fun quick build never shared publicly before.
  19. Attack of the Surfites! Run for your lives! Looks super Terry.
  20. While it is not my favourite style (lowrider), the workmanship is awesome. That is one clean model!
  21. I made all the decals.
  22. For a while mine were coming with the back cover and a few pages literally shredded, every time for several months. Lately they have been in good condition, but for a while every issue was damaged. And like you point out Harry, it was the only piece of mail that was not in good condition.
  23. Yep, bad typing on my part. Worse proof reading...
  24. Thanks all, funny you mention bread, she is baking a couple loaves of banana bread right now!
  25. Built this for my wife, the only true slammer I have ever done. I had the Testors body and I made a chassis from old business cards. Parts box wheels & tires, sheet styrene tinted windows, a couple machined items and custom decals. Paint is leftover Centari from when I painted the wood grain on my Vista Cruiser.
