Not too shiny, low budget nostalgia ride, just a cool summer cruiser adorned with the local annual cruise logos... Except for the "Bomb Girl" all the graphics were masked and sprayed, Tamiya satin/flat lacquers sealed with Future then scuffed with a Scotch-Brite pad.

Exceptionally well done! Great detail work and beautifully finished. The colors and style really set it off.

The vent windows, (I think they are actually hinged, not sliders) are kit provided decals. Marsh is pretty good at providing comprehensive decal sheets.

Hmmm..... What to build next?

Already burned out on model cars? Try needle point! -
I started this back in the 80's. It got shelved before a move and just left in storage. I figured after about 25 years it deserved to be finished. I thought I'd finish it as it was intended to be when I started it. The white paint had been chipped n a couple places, but the fluorescent red was still holding up. But it all had to be stripped. I repainted the body with the same Testors colors as before and was able to keep the red paint on the chassis. The custom made wheels were reusable from when I originally started it, including the Good Year decals. Decals came from a Lindberg Formula Firebird. It was a 1/43rd-ish scale pull-back toy.

My Inspirational Model Car

Nice story, and I even remember being there (Steve and I drove to that show together in fact), but why is this story "Pinned"? Just curious... -
is this site legit
Scale-Master replied to Lownslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's not Tamiya's site if that is what you are asking. Take note of things like typos too... "Mirco Helicopters"? Tamiya does not sell competitors products either. But it still could be a legit retailer, I don't know that... -
What do you drive?

They are '72 items too. Like I said, bone stock '72, as in Factory Original. -

The truck is a 72. Bone stock with an LS9, 4-speed and 4:11 gears in a 12 bolt. Homegrown rust work... Bought it when it was just a 12 year old pup... Still has a lot of life in it... -

Hey Romell, You gonna bring this bad boy to the show in a few weeks? -
Having judged model contests for a few decades I have seen more than a few “incidents”. During one IPMS Nats, a judge was inspecting a 1/43 white metal F1 model set on a wooden base. The tires had become stuck to the base, but it was not mounted to the base. After holding it sideways for long enough the tires let loose, and the car fell a couple feet with a magnificent THUD onto the table. Instantly the room was silent, so much that we all could here the tinkling of the smaller parts landing who knows where. It was totaled. The builder was given a higher place award to compensate his loss. I’m not sure that was fair to the model that was bumped due to the judge’s error. The builder took the destruction with class. I had an entry at a GSL get its side rear view mirror knocked off during judging time and it tore a chunk of the clear coat with it. I was told a magazine photographer did it, yet the magazine guys said they did not photograph it. I still think it was a judging gaffe. At a local car show an ignorant woman looking at the models picked one up like a five year old would, and waved it at the guys behind the table asking “how much is this die-cast?” I told her to please carefully put it down as they were not die-casts but models built by people and it was a contest. She tossed it back on the table and said “it’s not worth it” whatever that meant. Thankfully it was a SnapFast Plus and did not hit anything or get damaged even though it bounced. Ironically it was mine too. We now have railings set up to keep the less informed away from harms reach of the models…

Yes, it is a Marsh Models kit. And thanks everyone!

How could I detail a battery?
Scale-Master replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Here's one I made a while back, (just stumbled on it by clicking he wrong button...), the labels really help a lot I think. http://www.modelcars...hp?showtopic=94 Proper cable ends don't hurt either... -
I made these decals back in 1990 for my OOB Tyrrell P34. The trick was mixing an ink that was translucent with a little iridescent and rein colored tint so it looked like the gel coat color was showing through. They were printed with a cloth-like pattern too. I know I still have a couple sheets of them, somewhere...

Thanks for the kind words guys. It is getting close to being finished... Those little details are proving to be time consuming.

IPMS model contest eureka mo was a joke!
Scale-Master replied to 71drolds's topic in Contests and Shows
Is IMPS a typo? I know of IPMS and have some opinions and observations myself, but I want to be sure we would be discussing the same thing. -
I think you need to change the title...

Very Nice work Hossain, as usual. It's nice to see other's who enjoy these cars/kits...
