  1. It is a Marsh kit, 1/43rd. Resin body with PE and white metal parts. Wheels and tires are done, as is the steering wheel. It was cast with a horn button so I drilled it out to match the race car’s wheel.
  2. The wheels are PE brass and machined aluminum. The centers had to be bowed to fit into the rim. I made a plug and pressed them to dish them uniformly.
  3. I really like your work "FuJimmy".
  4. Came across this old thing while looking for something else… It’s another one of my “Little Seven’s”… Findin’ ‘em everywhere…
  5. I usually weather even my well maintained street cars to some degree. Weathering is not just for extreme cases, (although there are some fine examples shown in this thread). Really, how many people keep the bottom of their real cars even as clean as the engine compartment? Get your “clean” car up on a rack and you’ll probably see you might have missed some mud and dirt on the bottom of the rocker panels. Don’t forget the tires… You can also leave a beater in a closet or drawer for 20 or 30 years and let nature take its course on top of what you do… Something from my teen years unearthed a while back. Should have removed that mold line across the B-Pillar, (among others), but I was going to weather it anyway... Looks pretty sucky there doesn't it? Weathering is not a valid excuse or fitting cover-up (usually) for failing to do the basics. My excuse on this one? Don't have one, except maybe youthful exuberance. Ay least I corrected it when it was "Overhauled".
  6. I made a '69 Magnum Concept a few years ago using the Revell Charger as the base (both '68 and '69 parts) and the roof, rear interior and glass from the Revell Chevelle Wagon. I made the window frames for the rear from brass to help mate the two main parts together and cut the glass to fit. Lots of cutting and sanding... I tried to keep as much Charger feel to the over all look. I also used CA (instead of putty) for almost all the modifications for added strength, and to this day it has not shrunk or shown any cut lines.
  7. Have you thought about going back in with a brush and some black paint to define the chrome trim you painted on the interior door panels? With all the other extra work you are doing, it will pay off.
  8. The fact this was posted during the anniversary of his death is just a coincidence. Or was it...? The idea to do it just popped into my head and I made it one day. Spooky? Nah, just one of those things...
  9. Here’s a few of my 4 bangers…
  10. Ding a ding dang a dong dong ding dong Everywhere I go...
  11. I think you're being a rambler.
  12. That was James Garner!
  13. I have had adults on more than one occasion gnaw me out when their “kid’s” model didn’t place at our show, and tell me why it should have; only to accidently show they actually did the majority of the work. And as Mr. Taylor alluded to, the kid is obviously bored and had no clue as to the construction. As for calling someone out for not being the builder, it is very touchy, and having verifiable proof is really required to be fair. Sadly a few underhanded people “win” that didn’t earn it because of lack of proof. Much like our legal system, better to have a few guilty go free than to punish one innocent… One instance I had a guy come to me during judging and tell me to “disregard” the sink mark in the roof of “his” Sublime ’72 Charger, because he missed it while building… (Not the brightest thing to say to a head judge.) Just a month earlier at a contest one state over I attended and helped judge, (overseen by one of our MCM members), who had shown me proof that same model had been purchased through Ebay and was not built by the entrant at all. That one was disqualified but it was such a sloppy build it was not in contention to place. Same guy used to bring a lot of models in a rolling cart, and try to enter more than the allowable five per person. About ten minutes before the close of registration his wife would bring another batch of five from the same load, now claiming "she built them". We gave up trying to reason with them as it was an annual thing, (and he entered the same models at other shows as his), so we just disqualified the "wife’s" entries. Not that they were all that competitive anyway...
  14. Some custom decals, some off my production printed sheet… More of a tribute than a replica.
  15. Current daily driver: The Corvette, not the truck... Sold the pick-up recently after owning it for 27 years, for about what I paid for it.
  16. Regarding the issue of "display only", most of the times I have seen people do it are because they: A- Brought more models than the limit per person for the contest, (or than they needed to enter to cover all the categories they thought they had a chance at placing in). B- To show off something that was under construction. C- The model had already placed at the same show at a different time, so was ineligible.
  17. Sorry Romell, you are too late again. It's going to someone else. And yes I do eat a lot of carrots. I can make an argument to have at least one 1/43 kit going at any time, and if not enough detail turns you off, there are some crazy super detailed kits available, or just go off on your own... But the balance of relatively low parts count balanced with adequate detail for the size makes them enjoyable to do between big projects. For anyone who cares, this one is in the Under Glass section now...
  18. If you post a picture it might helps us see what the problem is...
  19. They also offered a '70 Chevelle WOF in the bags...
  20. I just want to be clear; my earlier statement about how someone could use Photoshop was in no way intended to mean I thought any of the entrants had used photo editing software to enhance their model. But Harry's point is valid too, done well, it is untraceable, until you see the un- retouched real model...
  21. Dan Gurney @ Riverside 1958 Resin and white metal kit in 1/43rd scale.
  22. The body has been decaled and cleared… Some black detailing has been done too. I see there is a little wax I need to remove from some of the crevices…
  23. Obviously the lack of photography skills can hurt an entrants chances of winning, even with a great model. But careful composition of photos can hide flaws that would be seen in person. Then there is Photoshop...
  24. Was that a kit? Or kitbashed from.... what? I don't recall a kit of that back in the day. Very cool subject either way.
  25. I was not aware this was an old Heller re-release. I have had frustrating experiences (similar to what you described) with those old kits. My earier compliments can be multiplied x3. Very well done!
