Box art and your decision?
Scale-Master replied to Petetrucker07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I didn't think so. I did it for a magazine article and wasn't pleased with how it looked when it was done. I donated it to a friend's Ferrari collection some time ago. After I race weathered it to distract from some of the fit issues. -

Those Jack Lynnwood box art paintings are awesome. -

They are raw resin tinted to look like that. It is a very well thought out kit. -

I have that kit, and I built the Ferrari 330 from that series. They are perfect examples of kits that are out done by their box art. I'm not saying they are unbuildable, but they are very rough kits. I'll never build that 917. -
Thank you guys! I finally finished painting the hood, ironic to me since it is the last main body part, and the first part I made for it.

Box art and your decision?
Scale-Master replied to Petetrucker07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
But if you can tell the box art model was painted poorly, why would that be a determining factor in not purchasing the kit if otherwise it was something you wanted? -

Yes, I too would like to see what was being referred to. -

If the box art model was poorly painted or built and you could still see what the parts looked like (assuming they were acceptable to you) why would the way the box art model looked deter you from buying the kit? -
IXO makes 1/24 scale GSXR, but I think they only have a 1000ccversion, not the 1300cc like the Hayabusa. But it might look close enough in that scale. BTW, Hayabusa translates to Falcon and was also a prominent WWII Japanese fighter plane.

Scale-Master’s Finished Built Ups for 2014 In addition to the one big project I have been building on full time for over two years, I managed to start and finish all these (and a few others I didn’t have photos handy of) this year as well. Jota 917 Enzo ’73 Formula 400 Shelby ’34 Ford C6

The worm screws for the fuel lines (and other smaller diameter low pressure hoses) were even more fun to make. My camera is having a difficult time capturing them.

I made the worm drives for the radiator hose clamps and added the front brake soft lines. Looks a little dusty…

Thanks Tim. This one won't be finished this year. Maybe in a couple months or so. I think I'll make a '73 Camaro next, but not to this caliber.

Thanks guys! And Merry Christmas to all! The firewall/scuttle is pretty much done and permanently affixed. Except for the soft lines to the front calipers the brake system is done too.

That came out super sharp Erik. Perfect continuity in that build, something we should all strive for.

The side body panels are on for the final time. I’ll install the panel below the header after I finish bolting them all the way on. The rear body work is coming along as well, but other details need to be made and installed inside of it before final installation to the frame.
