  1. THAT'S funny Matthijs and thanks for continuing to follow along Tony. Here's the first of the strut/brake assembly. I won't bore anyone but these were a pain to assemble. Stepping up to 1/16th on a future build is looking better and better..............Cheers, Tim
  2. Thank you both Charlie and Dave. Finally getting back to the bench today.....hoping for a productive week. cheers
  3. Beautiful build John. You've convinced me to explore HOK paints for the Henry build. I find interesting your use of Tamiya acrylics on your builds too. When the time gets closer, I'd like to pick your brains for tips or insights you'd be willing to share. Stunning !!! Cheers, Tim
  4. I learn something every time I visit Cato. Thanks for sharing your solution. Gotta love the creativeness you have as well. Cheers
  5. Well done and cleanly executed. A build to be proud of. Cheers
  6. And the "Best in Show" award goes to................cheers John!
  7. Hey Scrappy J, haven't seen any posts for quite some time. Always enjoy your builds and threads. Anything in the pipeline hopefully? cheers
  8. Thomas, as the builder, you would know wherein the flaws are, but I can't see them. This is a beautiful car and build that you've done. Skip said it best, should be in a museum. Love it sir. cheers, tim
  9. Nice update on the steering wheel Chris. Storing that one away too for future use/reference. Appreciate your sharing the process and pics. Cheers
  10. Stunning John. I knew you wouldn't disappoint. Of all of your many talents, I have always been impressed with your painting abilities. Great great build. Cheers
  11. Hi everyone, I don't want to offend anyone by not calling you out specifically but I do want to say thanks again for your interest and "moral support" on the build. The only thing I built this weekend were snow forts, snow men and a sore back........as many in the East found out. That was a big one for sure. Clint/Brad, what is this "flyfishing" you speak of? Should I stop building model cars and take it up instead? Ray, sorry, no pics of setups this time around.....pretty straightforward stuff to make the parts. Back to the bench come Monday. Cheers to each and everyone of you. Tim
  12. Thanks everyone. Joe, no hatin' going on here......but I won't be making copies I assure you. Sorry dude. Andy, thanks and yes, you should give it a try...........I'm thinking of future parts / builds that I can use it again. Once you try your hand at machining it, you'll be truly impressed....I promise. Got the last of the brake brackets done and now I can move onto getting the front end on this thing. The little bracket you see is actually 2 in 1. I've not cut it down the middle yet but they mirror each other. This little bracket is affixed to the spindle where it meets the strut. The brake caliper bracket (pic 2) gets bolted to it. The last pic shows all the different bits and pieces I've been machining the last several weeks......I didn't realize how many little parts that I had to fab when I started and it just snowballed from there. Sorry to ramble........here are the pics. cheers Here you kind of get the idea as to what the little brackets purpose is. Stuff..................lots of little stuff.............
  13. Hey Clint, you're off to quite the start with the parts you've chosen. Let me know what you think of that Genesis unit....at some point I'll have to replace my dremels and I'd be curious to know if they're a reasonable replacement. Good luck with your build. cheers
  14. In its own good time Chris. Looking forward to your next post though. Cheers
  15. Wow Nicolas............you're truly taking advantage of the kit and the opportunities to detail it so thoroughly. Looks great! cheers, tim
  16. Love the creativeness and result. Cheers, Tim
  17. THERE he is......hi ya' Randy, what a nice surprise to have you visit and post on the site again. LIke everyone else, we're hopeful you'll be back on your builds and will share your progress. I've not forgotten your GT 40 build....... Today I got a quick mock-up done of the brake pieces and tomorrow I'll do the final detailing and assembly of them so I can get the struts / spindles on. Cheers I really like the way the Renshape machines and takes color. The texture was perfect for replicating carbon brakes. Thanks again Dave for the suggestion. All of these pieces were machined over the last two weeks...a bit steeper learning curve than I anticipated......

    917K

Beautiful Nie. I'm such of fan of the 917.......more please. cheers, tim
  19. Thank you John. And I'm loving the new pics. You are simply prolific and to be so at such a high level is just dumbfounding to me. Suitably impressed to say the least. Cheers!
  20. Thank you fellas....been working away, pics coming soon hopefully. Joe, I use ScaleHardware for certain nuts and bolts. A LOT of .5mm threaded stuff that they stock that is perfect for the build. I have also used a fair amount of T2M hardware for a lot of the larger sizes that I buy from BNA of Australia. Stuff is not readily available in the USA unfortunately so you have to go half way round the world or England. Ray, yes sir. Got the lathe a couple months ago and it's become one of the best door stops I've ever had. Not that I can't / don't use it from time to time, but the mill IS far more versatile and a better investment for the money spent. If you're going to buy either or machine, step up and buy the mill first (or only) would be my advice. Having the lathe is great in certain applications but it's just not the bang for the buck that the mill is. Cheers
  21. Doh!! WOW John. Let me repeat, WOW John. Before I forget, those are the most realistic seat-belts I've seen. How'd you do them if you don't mind me asking? The hardware in particular. Fantastic work. Cheers,Tim
  22. Promised Joe a pic of the mangled one...alongside a good one. The blue markings are where I'll cut the disc to make the 4 necessary brake caliper brackets. I did it this way to save a little bit of time and to ensure accuracy/ consistency regarding the hole placement for each bracket. The "ring" is 1mm wide and .5mm thick...which I will thin down just a little bit more. No sooner did I get the part off the mill then the power went out (yup Dave, dodged a big ol' bullet on that one) and the DRO went off of course......I count myself lucky on that one. Cheers Just a quick mock-up, nothing bolted, aligned etc. but you can kinda get the idea.
  23. What a treat to have you back on your build Cato. These are all significant updates and I really appreciate your detailed photos and descriptions as you progress. Many lessons to be learned here. And you have phenomenal taste as well. Your chosen paint colors are just sublime and will really compliment the car. Well done sir............it's obvious you're having fun with it. cheers, tim
