used the revell sprint car kit to pattern the brass tubing for soldering up the chassis. will ad the wing. too
-
off to a good start. Maybe leave the removed valve cover on the fender, drill holes for the head bolts, Even a forgotten wrench somewhere.
-
WOW very very nice, the tail gate chain is killer. have you thought of using real wood for the bed?
-
the coat hanger is a nice touch. excellent work. just starting one myself, and good job on the foil, it a tough one to foil, and you got the side trim right, a lot of Hudson's I see have the foil covering the whole side trim, when the top roll on the trim is body color, nice job

Lanny Haas replied to bpletcher55's topic in WIP: Model Cars
And he knocked it out of the Park.....that is killer!!!! the rust on the chrome tools great! to me that's hard to do and make it look right, and the wood looks like the finish is cracked and peeling. and the wheels are perfect also....to me anyway -

I have figured it out, he has a 1/25 scale mechanic , who lives in an old AMT Riviera box. with his 1/25 scale wife, and 4 1/32 scale kids, Oh and spot the dog....How else can he apply HO scale decals on plug wires!! simply amazing -

John I think you have outdone yourself on this one.. Raised the bar as it were! With the right background, lighting and good photos we could pass this of as a real car. the little details that I see here like the steering shaft at the fire wall. Most would be happy with just the shaft going thru the fire wall to the steering wheel, but we have the Flex shaft, the joint, the collar , the pins and nuts, properly weathered. the brackets on the blower, nuts holding them on, the carb detail, screws, fittings, I still have'nt seen it all. Of course the paint flawless. You have the title of a master model builder in my book. This one belongs in Utah.... -
sounds like a fun project. pretty much do as you like. I dont like making dents from heat, the just dont look right. I grind the inside of the body, to make the plastic thin than make a dent using your finger or a table edge, you can also grind the oudside of the body to make dents, just grind and sand grind marks away. be creative.

that is spotless compaired to mine.....I have a 4 X 6 top and can only work on a corner of it....
-
for the shape the bodys is, the wood looks pretty good. needs some cracked and missing wood, maybe a dent ot two, maybe some tears in the roof... or just leave it alone. its a fine line your walking dont want to go TOO far, than its hard to get it back.. looks good, I like it.....

this is the real recorsd player
-
Thanks Bill.....It was a productine day...aside from sticking fingers together with the super glue and losing parts on the floor. Anyway, got the roof painted last night, and the engine alcladed "chromed" . built my little record player, and the door jam"s from this parts box battery, well build the record player. I still have a real one, to check by, but this is the basic shape. thru sanding and wittling, I got the trun table and the tone arm in place..something that will never be seen, but its there. set it into the center consol with a few records to warp in the sun.. got the body and parts primered , and going to paint the top first Light Ivory, than dull coat it, as its a carson top painted the silver base for the silver flake paint, than mask the top and the silver and do the blue. Should take most ot next the week to finish the paint. only 9 more days..
