slammed VW Vanagon
dig replied to dig's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Hi Dominik, I appreciate the criticism. Admittedly not my best work. With the endless fitment issues I was having (even the glass cracked with me trying to fit in place), it almost ended back in its box to never return. But I decided it was too cool to throw away so I just finished up as something fun. I'm glad I did. Big thanks to everyone else for the kind words! -

Thanks Foxer, I have a little online shop that carries these. They come from Asuka Models in Japan. I am currently the only retailer in the US with them. Check them out at www.detailjunkees.com -

Hey guys, here's a fun little VW Vanagon I wrapped up recently. Wanted to keep that 80's look, but I just couldn't do stock height. Krylon orange, kit decals with urethane clear. antique white for the top. custom decals for seat inserts. Also has cool tv & cabinet inside. The wheels are "Orange Wheels" 3 piece 4 lug steelies.

Thanks for all of the compliments fellas. Here is the new wheel set. "One" This started as a hand drawing by a good friend Benjamin LeGrand of Altered Visions. Had it rendered digitally & evolved into this nice & original wheel set. -

Thanks Scott. I'm a big fan of yours. (I actually backed off from doing a 4 link setup since you offer an awesome set already). These are on rubber backed stainless steel & the thickest they would allow before compromising the sides was .005. -

Thanks for the good word Greg. No, I don't do commission work unless you are wanting a huge 12"x19" sheet. I do the art & have it professionally etched & they only do huge sheets like that. Plus there is an expensive start-up fee for the tooling. -

Also recently connected with a good pal Rusty McBride of Trailer Trash Kustoms & now carry his full line. He's getting very well known for mastering & casting this Cummins. Here's an awesome built up pic He's got a lot more in the works too. Here's some of the other fun stuff. Chezoom buckets He also made a narrowed version of them so they fit in street rods. Here's a set going into my 39 Chevy Lots of audio equipment too -

Thanks a ton for the kind words fellas. I haven't had the opportunity to build one up yet. I based all of the measurements off the Revell LS kits & the 1:1 measurements of the actual brackets of which they're based. I'm anxious to build one soon. I am working on a 39 Chevy at the moment to showcase the grille assembly & keeping the block simple-ish by just doing one of the oval streamline dress up kits. -
Yeah, also good old packaging was a cost I overlooked. Fortunately, I can print my own backing cards on card stock & craft ziplocks are fairly inexpensive. Web hosting, PayPal fees.. all eat you up pretty quick. yeah no joke.
