  1. Is anyone else upset over the fact that Revell says Tampo printed tires on the box but does not actually have them in the kit? It may be a small thing but I know people who bought the Gremlin kit from AMT just to get the slicks that were included. This seems to be false advertising and I've yet to see any explanation/apology for this oversight. In the kit, decals are provided for the whitewalls. but I thought Tampo printing put the lettering/whitewall directly on the tire. I have seen several theories advanced as to why they are not Tampo printed, but I still feel it was wrong to put the kit out with the claim of Tampo printed tires on the box.
  2. Just got me decals for the Galpin Ford mustang from Whoopie Kat and I must say the quality is very nice. I heard about Whoopie from another modeler on this forum and I am going to try and build the 4 engined "Mach IV" with a Speed City Resin body and the Whoopie Kat decals.
  3. I got my Mustang body in the mail the other day from Speed City Resin to make Tommy Ivo's Showboat into the Mach IV four engined dragster and it is a thing of beauty, it looks like a plastic molded body, very nice. I also ordered the correct Firestone slicks and the velocity stacks and they are also very high quality thanks Scott! I suggest anyone looking for high quality resdin cast bodies and other accs. check out his site.
  4. Thanks for the responses. John, I saw your build and really liked it so I thought I would give it a try. I may be contacting you if I run into any problems. Your build turned out really nice. Thanks again for the info.
  5. Who makes the resin body that you can use with the Tommy Ivo Showboat kit to make the 4 engined Mustang? Iv'e seen it built and was wondering who makes that body.
  6. Does anybody know if the Malco Gasser was ever produced with a flat hood? There is someone on e-bay selling a "professionally" painted body that he claims is from the original Malco Gasser kit. I have never seen a photo of the original Malco Gasser without the teardrop hood and when I asked the seller he said he checked with his source who is a drag racing fan who claims the original Malco had a flat hood. I know the Street Freak mustang is almost a copy of the Malco car but it has a flat hood.
  7. Thanks for all the help guys! This is the kind of info that helps everybody to make better models. Thanks again, I'm glad to see so many others were able to use the info.
  8. Thanks Terry, that is exactly what I was looking for! It clearly shows the wires coming out of the top of the mags. and I also like the different colored wires, except now I'll have to buy another color to go with the red I have. Thanks again.
  9. Does anyone have photos/diagrams of a double magneto set-up? I have one of the '90's era Revell/Monogram funny car kits that uses this set-up and I would like to do some wiring on the motor. I believe it uses 2 spark plug per cylinder and I want to get the wiring right. Does each mag. supply one set of plugs? I assume 8 wires from each mag. to a set of plugs, is this correct? Also do the wires come out the side of the mags. or out the top? I have seen both styles and was wondering what would be correct for this kit.
  10. Are the magnetos shaft driven similar to a distributor on a regular engine?
  11. So just a set of plug wires from each magneto would be correct? I wasn't too sure so I thought I should ask, thanks for the help!
  12. I'm working on a 90's era funny car and was wondering where are the magnetos wired to? The kit has twin mags cast into the valve cover. I will run wires from those to the spark plugs but shouldn't there be a wire to supply power to the mags? If so where should this wire come from or go to?
  13. Did I see that Short 'N Shaky on the TRAK site? It looks familiar, I think it got my vote in Jan.
  14. Will do, thanks Gregg.
  15. I have purchased several different sets of detail parts from this company and am trying to get some combination fittings in several different sizes that mt LHS does not have. My question is has anyone had any luck in getting in contact with these people? I have called the number listed as customer service from 9am cst to 8pm cst and have left messages on two different occasions. Are they still producing product or have they also closed up shop? Any info will be appreciated.
  16. I'm from Crest Hill, and work at my LHS! great job huh!
  17. Anybody ever deal with this company? I've looked at some of their stuff and was thinking of getting a body but when you click on the contact button on the site there is no info?
  18. Thanks Bruce, I checked it out and that explains what happened. At least I know I wasn't just the unlucky one.
  19. Picked mine up at my LHS yesterday! Really nice kit, my only question is on the regular instruction sheet they make reference to an additional sheet showing alternate decal placement but I didn't have one in my kit? They include 2 different types of the number 91 and a Hudson dealership sponsor decal but they aren't shown on the box art or instruction sheet. Did anyone have this extra sheet in their kit or does anyone know how to get it? The only extra sheet I had was how to trim the fender skirt for the stock car version.
  20. Very Nice builds! Caine440 you wouldn't be a Mopar fan by chance would you? All of the builds are very nice.
  21. So far so good, I'm waiting to see how the engines turn out and also waiting to see how it looks without the panels. It will be interesting to watch this from across the Atlantic! Good luck with the rest of the build. Have you looked at any aftermarket slicks for that beast? Competition Resins has some really nice ones and they aren't very expensive either.
  22. I hope this doesn't sound too stupid but what are the designations on the engine dress up kits from MCG. SBC BBC, etc? Never mind I just figured it out, small block chevy, big block chevy etc!!!!!!
