Carmikeman replied to BIG-JIM's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
seems like it would be a no no unless cast for your own use. -
this thing has been testing my patients. finally got it painted. now add some blinker decals and some clearcoat. one of these days i will get this thing finished!
-
Scalecoat is some good stuff! kinda even etches the body. still need to lightly sand though.

Outrageous shipping charges!!
Carmikeman replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gregg, you can always sell ads for the site on Ebay! i remember 1 guy selling ads on his website in the form of pixles and made like a million bucks within a week. just a joke. i would gladly sell on Emodels and pay a buck or two even. i like the idea of the banner on the MCM homepage and the Forum page. -

Outrageous shipping charges!!
Carmikeman replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
go to Ebay Community and check out what is all being said about the Final Value Fees. i don't think i can post a link because, i think everyone has to be signed into their Ebay account to read about it. -
Outrageous shipping charges!!
Carmikeman replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
starting April 16th Ebay will start collecting on the shipping, which will make prices go up and when that happens, Ebay will be able to collect more. they say they are trying to fix the high shipping charges. i sell on Ebay all the time and this will cause me to quit them. you ask, how that will raise prices? well, with a higher Final Value fee, it means a seller will be actually paying Ebay on the shipping. thus higher product prices and lower shipping prices but, Ebay is making alot more. i am about done with them. been a member since 2002. they are just greedy and want to line the investors pockets -
lol. i wouldn't doubt it. too much resin dust or maybe, my spraybooth isn't venting right

well, i just tried Mr. Carpenters email and it didn't work. guess i'll call again.
-
geez, i wish you woulda told us that back in 1986! lol course there was no internet back then. thanks for the info.

appreciate the input Longbox. speaking of the engines, our ton and a half dumptruck had a 248 6 cyl. we found that out the hard way when it dropped a valve. dad thought it was a 270 6 cyl. anyways, it popped the top on 1 piston and scarred the head a little bit. dad ordered a 270 piston and a gasket kit. piston was way too big. the chiltons he had didn't show a reference for the 248. got it fixed finally and ran great. my project will mostly be a partsbox build. my bad on the name

Scott Carpenter is the only thing i have found and i haven't been able to get ahold of him. i talked to, i guess, his wife the other day and he never has called me back. his email has also changed according to the woman i spoke with. his new email is supposed to be scarpenter396@cox.net, i believe. i've been looking for a 55 GMC grille forever to make a dumptruck like my Dad had when i was a kid. anyways, you can find a link to his stuff at this site: http://socalcarculture.com/modelcarlinks.html hope this helps, and maybe you can get an answer from him. if you do, please let me know. 1960 Ford F-100 Pick Up
Carmikeman replied to Carmikeman's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
thanks for the tip Steve. iread on the Modelhause website about doing that. i mocked the 60 up with wheels and tires and drilled the axles out just to see if it was off. it sat fine. most of the twist is from the rearend to the back bumper and i think when i glue it up it will square up ok. -
1960 Ford F-100 Pick Up
Carmikeman replied to Carmikeman's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
yeah there is a little bit of a twist in the bedfloor and as for the frame, the twist is on the very back from the rearend housing back. don't think either will be an issue with some epoxy and clamps. shouldn't effect the stance of the truck. anybody gotta 1/25th scale frameshop? lol -
that looks great! bet it's a handful on the track?

1960 Ford F-100 Pick Up
Carmikeman replied to Carmikeman's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
well, got my Hendrix 60 Ford PU today from Steve Kohler. i'm not an expert on resin pieces but, i must say i think it's a nice casting. there is some flashing to deal with. does have a few thin resin spots like in the grille. nothing Evercoat won't take care of. thought i would post some pics so you can be your own judge. thanks guys. -
i'll second what Mr. Taylor said. i just ran across some old bottles of Testors enamel from when I was a kid in the 70's, at my Mother's house . all the new bottles were still good and the open ones, not so much.
