  1. I like what I see! This vintage of Camaro is a great basis for a drag car. (I hope nobody gives you any grief for the drcal in the front license plate position advertising that other model car publication! )
  2. I'm so glad they decided to reissue this one again. Sure, it's w-a-y old-school, with metal axles front and back, but that sort of thing can be a lot of fun. Your wagon looks the part of the "Weekend Warrior" draggin' wagon perfectly.
  3. Welcome to the forum, Soren! I'm a huge fan of station wagons, so I like to see other's guys' wagon model builds. I have a couple of these kits that I've been maning to do for quite a while now, and seeing yours might just be the inspiration I need to actually do one of them. Gfreat job, my friend!
  4. I've always liked the styling of the '53 Studebaker, and few people seem to recall that these cars were popular as drag cars in the 1960's. You did a great job on this one!
  5. Great job on this one, Harry! While I did finally gey it right, it had me studying the picture for several minutes. One question: Would it be possible for you to post the un-Photoshopped picture so we can see what you did to it. I know you never do anything to the actual car/model, but altering the background is fair game. The plain white background of this week's Rolls is one of the things that had me scratching my head. Thanks in advance.
  6. The only idea I have, Rob, is to just send it to me! I'm sure I'll be able to come up with something to do with it!
  7. Hey! Is that Sarah Palin driving that thing? (Not intended as a political joke - just a celebrity joke!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I followed the idiot in the photo below for a couple of miles on U.S Route 30 near New Oxford, PA a few years ago: I don't think that rig will fit through Mickey D's Drive Thru!
  8. Heck, then I'd just go him one (or two, or three... ) better: How about quad turbos on the Allison and a couple of J.A.T.O.s on the roof? Probably have to stretch the wheelbase a bit to make that work...
  9. Sweet stuff! The only concern I'd have is having the exposed carbs right next to the rear tires like that. To me, that's asking for trouble in a 1:1 ride. Would it be possible to add some shielding? But it looks great! I gotta do one of these things some day... Corvair-powered, of course!
  10. What the heck is a Rolls Royce "Carnardly"? Except for the Parthenon grille shell and Spirit of Ecstacy hood mascot, it would pass for a Bently Continental of the same vintage. I consider that car to be among the most beautiful cars of the 1950's. At first I wanted to say model (and small scale at that), but the more I looked at it, the more things said REAL to me. The only thing that still bothers me about that is the distortion in the windshield. Hey, that can happen in 1:1, but the left rear tire that is a few p.s.i. low is very hard to simulate in a model!
  11. She's a beauty! I agree with your thinking on the stripes: I see too many '69 Camaros with either black or white stripes too. The gold hockey sticks are a great change of pace.
  12. Another winner, buddy! Someone ought to get in touch with "The King" and have him check out your work!
  13. Here's a plan: Ferrari is famous for their "180-degree V-12s", right? How about a PAIR of Corvair flat-6's, one in back where it belongs and the other up front in the trunk?
  14. Hey Chuck, if you want to fix those two with the original 4-cylinder corn poppers out back, I can set you up with a couple of proper Corvair engines to go in them too...
  15. I know this one too. I saw either this car or one identical to it undergoing restoration at White Post Restorations in Virginia back in about 1993.
  16. I use Meguair's polish after polishing the paint out with polishing cloths, then I use Mother's "Hot Wheels" wax to finish it off. (I got a great screamin' deal on the stuff on eBay a few years ago - a case lot of a dozen 16oz bottles for $10+shipping... ) I use the same procedure on my 1:1 cars, substituting wet sanding and rubbing compound for the polishing cloths. The Mother's wax seems to deepen the shine of the polished paint, and it holds up great!
  17. The link doesn't work, but I get the gist of the idea from the thumbnail. If my wife needed me to do something like that or even more extreme to help her in a fight against cancer or some other disease, I'd do it in a second! My wife is already a cancer survivor, and I thank The Lord every day that she's in my life.
  18. Along these same lines, Pontiac made a couple of LeMans/El Camino prototypes around 1980 that looked great! At least one of them still exists in the G.M. Museum in Detroit.
  19. VERY cool! This is the kick in the butt that I need to get back into my '57 300-based pickup build.
  20. I am completely in awe! Your model is one of the best replicas I've ever seen. Your attention to detail is amazing.
  21. Nice job on the "Rustang"!
  22. As promised, here are a few of my previous Glue Bombs: 1960 SMP Corvair 700-Series 4-door sedan annual - My first Glue Bomb restoration: Another 1960 SMP Corvair 700-Series 4-door sedan annual - a replica of a car I once owned: 1967 AMT Corvair Monza coupe annual (converted to a convertible because of body damage at the base of the rear window, concealed by the top boot): 1966 AMT Corvair Corsa coupe annual: AMT 1970 Ford Galaxie 4-door sedan - found this one at a flea market for $1: AMT 1970 Camaro SS396 annual:
  23. I have a theme for my 300 pickup as well - It's a factory "dream car" from the auto show circuit with all the oddities that the show car had: A Plymouth engine, for instance. It toured under the name "Westerner", as a play on the Chrysler "New Yorker".
  24. "Rodel"? Are you sure it isn't "Meal"? (I guess you just ate... )
  25. I'm almost certain that it's not only a model, but that I know exactly which model it is - Partsworks magazine from the U.K. has an ultra-detailed 1/8 scale James Bond Aston Martin DB5 that they are selling to their subscribers on a monthly installment basis. Unfortunately, it isn't available here in the U.S. I know a guy down in Australia on another website who's doing a buildup pictorial on one.
