  1. The local Michael's has a Badger compressor, Model AS180-12 on clearance, from $454.00/CDN to $129.00/CDN. I am assuming it is old stock and they are trying to get rid of it. Wondering if anyone has one & what they think of it.
  2. I bought a model kit of a 1966 Thunderbird from a hobby shop out of town before Christmas, all parts were in the box I was told. Upon opening the box a week or so ago, I found the clear tree including the headlights and front windshield, side and rear windows were missing. The rear is no problem as I am going to build it as a convertible, but the missing windshield does present a problem. Any one have any ideas on how to fabricate one from common household items etc.?
  3. Maybe not so much signs, more like garage names on trucks etc.
  4. Shop service truck, nice paint, new motor and interior.
  5. I would like to begin lettering my cars. I used to do toll painting, using transfer paper & designs from magazines. The design would be transferred to the wood & then painted. I would like a program to design lettering that will let me shape the letters into curves, etc. I would then transfer them to the vehicle & use paint & brush to create the signs. Any ideas would be a great help.
  6. He likes to buy, says this is the right one, then before you know it, car is gone & he's on to another one.
  7. Her husband is a car guy, lately he's had a '68 mustang fastback, factory 5 cobra, challenger t/a and now a 2012 Mustang Shelby.
  8. Came back to work after 2 weeks vacation & found this on my desk. One of the ladies here was cleaning out her cottage and found it Everything in the box except the paint & brush.. Looking forward to getting started on it.
  9. I'm thinking stock. When I buy these sort of drag cars, it is usually to do the stock version, as they can be hard to find. I'm thinking black with red interior. I tend to check the internet for original colors & combos before deciding on the paint scheme. My problem is finding the time to build. I have a dedicated work bench, paint booth etc. , but as most of you probably know, free weekend time is usually taken up with the wife's ideas of fun.
  10. Thanks, now I know what to look for.
  11. I picked up this 1964 Thunderbolt on Saturday from Hobby Lobby. Read the box after I got home, skill level 5, should be ok. Next it said build time 7 hours, pretty near split my pants laughing at the 7 hours. I must assume they assembled the model without painting or any detailing. Takes me that long to go over the instructions & get things ready to start.
  12. 1978 Z/28 Camaro, 2002-2005 Thunderbird. The Camaro I bought new in 1078 anf the Thunderbird (2005 Limited Edition) I have now.
  13. Anyone familiar with this model of air brush? Just ordered one from Amazon, wondering if they are ok or not. Gocheer High Precision Dual Action Gravity Feed Airbrush With 0.2 0.3 0.5mm Nozzles and 1/8" 5.9 ft Hose $39.99/CDN
  14. To whomever it was that came up with the idea of using a jig saw with a squeeze type clamp to make a paint shaker, my hats off to you. It is one of the best & easiest accessories I have come across in the modelling world. The on/off switch on my saw is very stiff, so I can just slide it ahead enough to get the action going and shaking without flinging the paint out of the clamp. I used it on the weekend for bottles & cans and it performed excellent. MY right shoulder is not the best & this sure takes a lot of strain off from shaking by hand. Again, many thanks for the tip.
  15. Going on a 440 six pack, red engine.
  16. Wondering what color you guys paint your oil pans. Engine color, black, aluminum, contrasting color to engine?
  17. This is my next project, starting on the weekend, hoping it goes smoothly. I have 4 other cars unfinished in boxes. They all have reached the point where I was ready to pitch them against the wall, or put back in the box. Just small things that I can't get right that are very frustrating. Sooner or later, they will get done.
  18. Which process, in your own opinions, works better for doing interiors, seats etc. Brush by hand? Airbrush?
  19. Thanks
  20. At my age, 65, my hands are not quite as steady as they once were. I am currently working on a '58 vette, and the front bumpers are quite smudged with glue. Does anyone have a solution for gluing small parts together so as not to get globs of glue on everything? I have tried toothpicks, small paint brushes, etc, but none of these seem to do the trick.
  21. I purchased this from Amazon.com, works great. Tamiya 74041 Electric Handy Drill
  22. As you can see, I messed up when paining the coves. I thought they were complete until I installed them & saw that I now have to finish the white on the fender. This will entail taping & masking and I am wondering, what is the favourite material used to mask the car while painting.
