  1. Got it! I had given up on anyone getting this one. I thought it was over looked!
  2. I'm with you! Getting to be a long thread but, I am enjoying it non the less.
  3. "There was a motorization fad in the early Sixties" Great info. Mark, Thanks again. This fad must have lasted a litter longer in Japan with all the Tamiya offerings.
  4. Thanks Art for the correction, I was hoping someone would pipe in on this one. Mark, Thanks for that clarification also and about the electric motor, did that come with the kit? It seems like there might have been a battery or two. Does anyone remember the size of the battery(s)? I remember failing miserably on the steering and gluing the front wheels on with a big glob of glue. Kind of frustrating for an eight year old.
  5. Thanks again guys for all the great comments. I found this gem on another thread. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=98295&hl= This is a bit of nostalgia for me. I had forgotten building one of these when I was just 8 years old. That would make this kit my first model car ever. I love it that they are now bringing some of these early kits back to life for some of us old guys. I sure made a mess of my first model. All of this time I thought the '60 Edsel was my first car model kit.
  6. Kojack? Again? I thought someone got this already. This thread is all over the place.
  7. Blues Brothers
  8. I forgot all about that one! If I remember correctly that kit was first issued in about 1958. That would have been my first model car. I messed it up pretty bad at only 8 years old. I would sure like to try one now, thanks for posting that up Steve! I'm smileing right now.
  9. I wanted to guess this movie for the Caddilac above but, now we have another. Poster #367 gets it, Driving Miss Daisy.
  10. I love it and I think Lamont would have loved it too! Fred would have had the BIG one.
  11. Nice pickup, I love the patina on this one and the stance. Perfect!
  12. Nice pictures Tulio.
  13. At first I thought it was just about the Steve figure, which is cool, with one of your older builds, I always like your diorama, Looks like you have another beautiful '57 Ford Galaxie to add to your collection. Beautiful paint! Edit: Just looked at some of your other work and realized this is the sleeper car. Good to see it again, so is this thread about the McQueen figure? What can you say about it? Origin maybe, did you paint it? Looks cool, would love to have one.
  14. Yea I know Mike, I already have five and now I want two more, I love 'em! Now I want to build the modified shown on the side of this box since I am getting the decals, and another stock roadster using the fenders from the vintage kit. I've never seen a reissue with the two fenderwells for spares like this one. Seriously, I wish they would bring back all of these.
  15. Thanks everybody! There is a big smile on my face right now Thanks to you guys and the fact that I just ordered the decals from here http://www.ebay.com/...=item462f150e7f, Thanks Bob for the tip. I will post more pictures later with the decals applied.
  16. It was another low stress, fun build of an old classic. Hope you enjoy all the photos and have a smile on your face after viewing. As always, thanks for looking. I guess this is the money shot really. I think it was worth the $10. Tell me what you think of my work. Criticisms, comments and sarcastic remarks are kindly welcome. I'm a big boy, I can take it.
  17. The other model is an older build of the stock version. What I think is cool about the vintage kit is, it had the front fender pockets for two spares for the stock version and chrome wire wheels, later eliminated on reissues. My plan is to use these parts on a future build like the other car on the box.
  18. I decided to buy a vintage AMT model box at a show/swap meet for $10 just for the box to display with my AMT ‘32s. What I got was the box, directions, and an unpainted kit with some glue marks and some parts missing. I thought, “I might as well try and build one like the box art since I like it so much.” I decided on the roadster and I wish I had the decals for this one. From the directions I realized I had a 1960 model kit. They had a picture of all the other AMT model kits available in 1960 on the direction sheet.(cool) The ’60 Edsel was my first AMT model in 1960 when I was 10 years old and it was on the sheet! I did the best job I could with the parts I had. I used the Hemi engine with no wiring , no generator bracket, throttle linkage, or extra parts. I kept it a simple build. I shaved the door handles, added louvers to the rear, painted the white walls, made wire braces to the front fenders and headlights using paper clips, and that’s about it. Paint is Duplicolor red, black, and white. I know! I should have used Testors.
  19. Joe, If you come back to this thread I just want you to know I am not judging people or models here. I realize we are all different with our own set of manners. I remain friends with the man I was bashing, we just have problems with conversation sometimes. The thing we have in common is we both love model cars. I have given up on trying to change anyone besides myself. All I am saying is it never hurts to give a kind word. We all have flaws as well as our models. Thanks for pointing that out. One of my flaws I guess.
  20. Seems that everyone got this one! Tom, Clayton and Miles, Congratulations! Ferris Bueller's Day Off
  21. My small model group at the local hobby shop had more handicapped members than the ones that were not. Some of us would bring models every time. The other guys would bring a started project or most times nothing. If they did bring a finished project I would always offer my compliments. I would see an instant smile. A few guys you notice their heads might swell a little each time. Sooner or later some started offering their criticism on my projects. That will humble you a bit. I always tried to make everyone welcome and listen to their stories. Needless to say, our model group IS no longer. The president of our club announced that since no one was interested in participating our club was terminated. I think some of the guys really miss the getting together and I feel bad for them. I made a few friends and that, my friends, is the reward. Edit: Sorry, had to edit my post here. I got to feeling guilty about some of my remarks. Joe is right in post #94, I am not here to judge people or make comments about their behaviour. I will include our facebook page here if anyone is interested in seeing our models. https://www.facebook.com/muncie.modelers?fref=ts For some odd reason we kept our facebook page.
  22. Which one is the real Harry? I liked him as Barney Fife, Always imagined him as the cop keeping all the forums in order.
  23. That's a good one to start on. Looks like she did it right. Another good one is the snap '57 Chevy, also the '63 Corvette. I tried one on my grandaughter and she put the flames going toward the front. Started her on a glue kit and wound up doing it myself. She is only 8. I started building models at 8 but, the 1/25 scale cars started when I was 10, same age as your daughter. I bet she can do a glue kit with your help.
  24. It's a true sleeper! Nice presentation.
