Very nice. Now, what would a set-up like this be used to haul?
-
What's wrong with the flatbed? Is it that inaccurate?
I suppose there's always the tan-over-flat black & sand technique. Never tried it personally, just heard about it.
-
This should be interesting.
Do you know if there is any way to turn this kit into a left hand drive US truck? It's like the only Western Star I can find.
-
That's a big chunk of metal!
It looks like there are endcaps & a protective covering on it so the steel, copper, whatever isn't exposed. Would those be made from aluminum, or would they be steel, too?
-
Nice looking boom truck you've got there. I like the weathering of the wood on the bed.
-
Ok, so one truck had the VT903 & the other one had the NTC350. Is that correct? What about the "In Tandem" truck?
-
Rod,
You're right about the engine. In fact Tim's site mentions this fact, too http://www.angelfire.com/mi/TimsManufactur...e/movinon2.html It's about 1/2 way down the page. Was the NTC350 in the "In Tandem" truck by chance, or in the other "Movin' On" truck since there were two used to film the show?

No problem. Glad to help.
You liked Black Sheep Squradon? I thought I was like the only person on the planet that like that show. Love the Corsair!

For the Movin' On KW, your best bet is to start here http://timstrucks.web.aplus.net/movinon.htm Lost of good pics 7 infor on these pages.
As for AM parts, well compared to armor & aircraft, there isn't as much; but there is stuff out there. Just depends on what you want. You can look here http://www.danmodeltruckworld.com/shop/ and here http://www.brlmodeltruckshop.com/ to start. And http://www.aitruckmodels.com/ this is always a good one, too. You can get accurate decals at http://www.jbot.ca/cars/trucks/movinon.shtml
The Movin' On KW was a 1973-74 W900 with a Cummins NTC350 & a torsion bar suspension. Brad Lawson from B.R.L. Model Truck Shop has the torsion bar suspension, but it isn't listed on his site.
Here's a data sheet for the Movin' On KW: http://timstrucks.web.aplus.net/images/ima...ycolorchart.jpg
Be sure to thank Tim Ahlborn for the Sonny KW site!

Cool fire engine! Looks like the one they used from LA County for "Emergency".
Your're from Scranton? I was in Wilkes-Barre a little while ago for business, and I couldn't find a hobby shop to save my life. Where do you get your supplies in Central PA now that AutoWorld is gone?

Is is my immagination, or does the Signature 600 look orange?
-
It would sort of look like the car in "Grease" with the glass hood! Immagine how hard that would be to keep clean?
-
The pics I've seen of them, they've been sort of a dull gold as oposed to jewelry gold (if that makes any sense). I've heard that ALCLAD Gold is a close match.
This might help: http://modeltrucks.com.au/page20.html or it might confuse you even more!
Good luck.

I'd heard about the DAF 12.9 engine. Is that the same as the PACCAR engine?
Interesting info on the PB 260 and the KW K270(?). MAybe one of those "high-speed" resin casters out there might make a conversion kit for the current DAF XF95 kit. Still like that DAF though, but it would be interesting to have one in the collection with KW badges, too.
-
Tim,
I like the KW/DAF whatever-the-heck-it-is. Very cool. Does this mean that the KW K100 is no more and the K500 will be replacing it here in the US? I always wondered when PACCAR was going to start importing DAFs to the US. Will Peterbilt be using the DAF cab for anything that you know of?

I've had some pretty good success with Super Clean. Stripped of Testors & Tamiya paint without too much extra effort. Had no success with Heavy Duty Easy-Off (oven cleaner). I was using it on Tamiya paint, and it just gave the yellow paint a motteled brown covering. Both worked on chrome quite well.

Nice Marmons, guys. They're kind of a unique modeling subject like Brockway & Hayes.
Chuck,
Is that really your truck? Do you drive that Marmon? Any more info on it? Looks nice.
-
I agree. Very nice details. The cup holder is a nice touch. Is that a Calgary street map on the dash? Like the fire extinguisher idea, too.
-
Tim,
Looks really nice! You sure can make a lot of different trucks with the Italeri 377, can't you.
Now, if I can just find a 127" hood for my RoG 359, I'd be happy!

Did you check here:

Here's the main site: http://www.griffendesigns.com/
Good luck.

You can check with these guys: http://www.modelmakerhobby.com/ They don't make a case that is specific for a 1/25 scale truck, but you should be able to get it into the 1/18 scale car case.
You could also make your own.

No problem. Glad to help.

Well, that makes sense.
So, Scott, you going to load your covered wagon with watermellons?
