has anyone used testors "wet look" clear.....
martinfan5 replied to foxbat426's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Justin, do you have a link for the clear ? -
Starting a new build, why, I dont know, I still have a few to finish up. Up next is Revells release of the Audi R8 spyder, I am not really a fan of the R8, but I have kind of burned my self out with all the Ferrari builds I have been doing. I think I going to do red on this one, I like the way the R8 spyder looks in red, plus I have a can of Tamyia bright red on hand. getting ready to get the body painted , removed the mold lines, which werent that bad.

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
martinfan5 replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use bleach, and I kid you not, I have watched it strip the chrome right before my eyes, in about two minutes the chrome was gone, and I had a nice white base to work with, try it. -
I have tried it before, and did not like it, it comes out very thick, I would stay away from it, some people do use it, and have no problems with it. Since you had problems finding plastikote, try and look for duplicolor primer .

1984 Custom Cadillac (California Wheels Edition) By Revell

I agree, two or four door, its still a good looking car, is this like the first one, where the bumpers and grill plated in gold instead of chrome? -

No worries mate, I didnt have to search, I just remember reading that thread and replying to it a few times, thats the only reason. I have seen this kit in the LHS, not sure if I want to spend LHS prices though on it, I want to turn into a 4dr -

Lawrence, check out this thread, there is a lot of talk, and some pics of turning it into a 4dr http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55569 -
You did a great job, very nice, I build Ferrari kits, but this one is not on my list, maybe it will be one day
-
Just making sure , I agree with what you were saying, and you gave good advise, you know, if you take the target off you back, you might be better off Same here I have to have to more the one build going on, I have up to three new builds going, and working other projects that are model related, but enough to keep me working on something and not rushing to get one build finished as soon as I can. I am very impatient person alot of times, and one of those times is with models
-
It all depends, are you building for contests?, are you building for your self?, there are manys ways to build a model, build it the way you want to, its all about having fun. You will over time learn the skills to build better models, but it comes with time, I am 31, been building since I was say around 10 years old, and its only been in the last year that my builds turn out decent. If you try to build contest quality builds now, all thats going to happen is make it feel like a lot of work, and take the fun out this hobby. So just build for your self, dont worry about what others on here think or say how you should build your kits . Disclaimer that was not aimed at Futurabat or anyone else
