  1. You did a great job on your T! Love the color. Kee up the great work! -Larman
  2. I saw a lot of your stuff there too, and I was really hoping to meet you actually. I really liked the Lindberg '32 Ford pu ( I remember seeing it posted in primer)! I think you also did that really cool old school chopper with the candy red tank ....It seems we build with a similar style, because a lot of the stuff that "struck" me at the NNL had your name on it! -Larman
  3. BTW, I said the length was 40" in a previous post, that was a misprint, the actual length with base is approx. 32 ". The car itself is actually 2 ft. from front tire to end of turtle deck. The dimensions on my model are: T body- 9"wide and 9 1/2" long. T deck is 6" wide and just about 6" long. Rear slick is 5" in diameter and 1/12" wide. The Big T body is 5 1/2" wide and 6 1/2"long. T deck is 4" long and about that wide. Rear slick is 3 3/4" in diameter and 1" wide. You can certainly see the difference in the pictures.I just figured I would actually take a minute to do the measurements, since people seemed to be interested.....Thanks to everyone who has checked this model out, and for all the kind comments! -Larman
  4. When compared to a Monogram Big T ,the body is significantly larger. Originally I was going to use one of those 1/6 Hemi dragster engines you can buy as a kit, but that turned out to be too small, so that is why I scratchbuilt the engine. It doesn't look that much bigger than a Big T, until you put them side by side. If I show it again, I think I will put a Big T with it so people will notice the difference. -Larman
  5. I never actually scaled it, I eyeballed everything that was scratchbuilt, and because it is cartoony it probably didn't matter that much. The length with base is 40". It is a big model! That was part of the appeal of the project for me. Now that it is done, storage is a bit of a problem! -Larman
  6. This was a long term project which features a scratchbuilt rat fink and engine. The model is not a Big T, but it is actually an old toy called the Big Red Rod, by Marx toys. I bought a severely damaged example on ebay, and that was the start of this project, which took about 1 1/2 years to finish. -Larman
  7. The car is on the road frequently around here.....I took the shot at a local cruise night a couple months before it was in the magazine. -Larry
  8. I want it to sit about like this.....maybe a notch lower in the back. -Larry
  9. This one started out with a 1/24 Jesse James diecast I snagged for around $5 at a discount toy place. I took it apart, stripped the body, cleaned it up and now it's painted. I used duplicolor "retro red" and it looks way better in person than in the pics for some reason. I also made and installed a straight axle, The front fendewells are cut out and the front of the frame has been modified a bit. The body is just mocked up in the pic, it actually does sit on the frame nicely! I need to raise the rear a bit, but I still want the nose to be slightly higher than the rear. The interior is pretty nice, but I am losing the rear seat and all the junk in the tailgate area. I am going to leave the black, but redo the goldish parts in the interior in white or silver. Also I am going to add a rollbar, shifter, tach and flocking for carpet...The enigine will most likely be a small block dressed appropriately for an early to mid 60s street/strip gasser. Since the car is 1/24 , I am thinking a 283 from the Monogram '57 Corvette. I will most likely keep the wheel and tire combo, but might switch out rear wheels for 5 spoke americans......Thanks for looking! -Larman
  10. Hi, I am new to this board, I thought I might post some pics of my long term rat fink project. I have posted these at the hobby heaven and scale auto message boards, so if you frequent those, you may have seen these already. The car is a T bucket and is approx. 1/6 scale, it was originally a toy called the Big Red Rod manufactured by Marx in the 60s to early 70s. I bought it on ebay a few years ago....and it sat around until one day when I got the idea to make it a 3D version of one of the old Roth monster car drawings. There is a huge amount of scratch building, including the entire rat and the engine. I have a lot of work to do, but I hope to have it done for the NNL East in march. The engine is now ready for final assembly and detailing, I hope to have it done by the middle of january, I will post pics when it is done. Thanks for looking! -Larman This pic is of the nearly completed fink with paint. Here is an early mock up with the car before paint. Here is an album with a bunch of build up shots. http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i107/larman1/finkster/ This one has early shots and some other rat stuff. Also if you check the albums you can see some other models I built including my dios and weathered stuff. http://public.fotki.com/larman/
