  1. This one started out with a 1/24 Jesse James diecast I snagged for around $5 at a discount toy place. I took it apart, stripped the body, cleaned it up and now it's painted. I used duplicolor "retro red" and it looks way better in person than in the pics for some reason. I also made and installed a straight axle, The front fendewells are cut out and the front of the frame has been modified a bit. The body is just mocked up in the pic, it actually does sit on the frame nicely! I need to raise the rear a bit, but I still want the nose to be slightly higher than the rear. The interior is pretty nice, but I am losing the rear seat and all the junk in the tailgate area. I am going to leave the black, but redo the goldish parts in the interior in white or silver. Also I am going to add a rollbar, shifter, tach and flocking for carpet...The enigine will most likely be a small block dressed appropriately for an early to mid 60s street/strip gasser. Since the car is 1/24 , I am thinking a 283 from the Monogram '57 Corvette. I will most likely keep the wheel and tire combo, but might switch out rear wheels for 5 spoke americans......Thanks for looking! -Larman
  2. Hi, I am new to this board, I thought I might post some pics of my long term rat fink project. I have posted these at the hobby heaven and scale auto message boards, so if you frequent those, you may have seen these already. The car is a T bucket and is approx. 1/6 scale, it was originally a toy called the Big Red Rod manufactured by Marx in the 60s to early 70s. I bought it on ebay a few years ago....and it sat around until one day when I got the idea to make it a 3D version of one of the old Roth monster car drawings. There is a huge amount of scratch building, including the entire rat and the engine. I have a lot of work to do, but I hope to have it done for the NNL East in march. The engine is now ready for final assembly and detailing, I hope to have it done by the middle of january, I will post pics when it is done. Thanks for looking! -Larman This pic is of the nearly completed fink with paint. Here is an early mock up with the car before paint. Here is an album with a bunch of build up shots. http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i107/larman1/finkster/ This one has early shots and some other rat stuff. Also if you check the albums you can see some other models I built including my dios and weathered stuff. http://public.fotki.com/larman/
