  1. Well I finally got the lift axle done and fixed the steering on the front axle, I had to pin it together with small brass rods. Looks like more resin than plastic! I like the look so far. Here is a decent shot of the cab and hood, they are pretty mch done. I have a couple details to sort out and then I will get the chassis in primer. The only major thing left that I don't have planned are the BIG rear fenders. Thanks for looking, Mark
  2. Thanks, I'll get some better pics in the next couple days. Life's a bit hectic right now. Mark
  3. Great set of photos! Thanks for sharing them, I hope to get to that show next year. Mark
  4. Hello all, Here are a few pictures of my DM800 project. This was a partial model I bought off ebay 12+ years ago. There is still a lot to do, the frame has been stretched 75 scale inches, the rear suspension is a RNK 80000# Hardbar set, the wheels are heavy 8 spoke with 14 - 24 rubber from RNK too (I opened a box from him dated 1-2000 !). I have added a lift axle from Eric, and need to decide on the wheel/ tire combo for that, then I can get the frame in primer. The body is pretty much finished at this point. I will try to post a bit better moch up picture soon. Thanks, Mark
  5. Thanks again for the tips and the links Jim. I might actually have a gold engine tomorrow. Now I fond out I am missing the air cleaner assy! This kit was a open / started mess I bought 10+ years ago and it is driving me crazy! Well at least I don't need the thing right away, might buy a build up or parts lot to get one.
  6. Well the bleach white and the easy off is taking all the chrome off. Now what to do for engine color????? The DM800 from Ertl was about a 1971, so are V8 Macks of that era grey or gold????? Hmmmmmm Jim, where did you get those great mack decals for your filters?? I would like to find a few decent pictures of the ENDT-865 engine so I can add some details to it too. thanks, Mark
  7. Thanks guys, I'll give the tire cleaner a try, I think I have some in the garage. That gold looks good to me Jim, I will have to pick up a can of that paint. Mark
  8. Hello all, I am working on an old DM800 tractor, it was a partial build off ebay. I wand a much more heavy duty look and need to strip alot of chrome off. What is a good chemical to do this?? Also what is a good match for the Mack gold engine color?? I also don't much care for the fixed fifth wheel, would a revell ag slider off a Pete look right? As soon as I fix my PB account I will post some pics. Many thanks, Mark
  9. Hello all, I have been viewing this board for a while now, there is some serious talent here. I have been in and out of truck models all my life. I haven't built anything in 10 years or so, but I tripped over a large stash in my attic, and the bug has bit me again! Hopefully I will have something to post soon. Thanks, Mark
