  1. Thanks all! Yeah I have a '77 Dodge D100 with a slant six and I love that beastly engine! Also, the chassis will stay Volare, but I plan on doing a lot of modifying to it to make it a bit more "up-to-date" including coilovers, 4-link rear, and adding my own fron suspension components. Will take a while, but hoping the results will be worth it!
  2. Okay, change of plans. I am not happy with anything I have come up with for the 340, so I'm doing a boosted 225 slant six! I have already started to scratch-make an Aussiespeed "Hurricane" intake manifold for it out of styrene sheeting. So far so good! I justdont know how in the hell I am going to cut out the runners...scribing with a hobby knife just feels kinda sloppy to me... Btw, this build will be on and off (dont have as much time as I once did), so bear with me...
  3. Awesome, thanks! Thats frickin awesome!
  4. I have a friend who built a bad-ass 1961 Plymouth Belvedere and now it has been featured in many magazines and online. I was wondering if anyone makes a resin model of that year car?
  5. Ah, excellent news! The 340 from the Duster kit is one of the best engines Ive ever seen...so detailed and precise! It needs to have an aftermarket parts following, dangit!
  6. Ok, this looks pretty gnarly...this gives me some ideas for future builds!
  7. Thanks! The intake is from an AMT 1970 Chevelle SS from the optional parts. I might just try to modify it to fit...it looks great on the 340! I'll have to look into those valve covers from the street machine kit...or maybe just make my own.
  8. If you want it, id be willing to trade something or it. It is missing the engine. I got it like that.
  9. Hey all, another winter has come around and I'm bored as heck not being able to work on my REAL vehicle, so I decided to start on this Volare kit I picked up at a Mopar car show $40...unknowing that they re-released it soon after Anyway, my plans for this thing is to build up the 340 from an AMT '71 Duster with an aftermarket intake manifold, an EFI setup and possibly turbocharged. Then I'll have to figure out suspension (since there literally isn't any) and lower it, bigger wheels/tires, a few body mods to clean up the front of the car (I prefer the earlier front ends, but I'll make due). Should be a fun project! So far I have asembled the 340 engine, but am in search of a different intake manifold that will work with this engine before I can go any further on this part. If anyone knows of something that may work, please let me know. Not a whole lot of stuff for the small block Mopar world. I found that the fuel injected hi-rise manifold from an AMT '70 Chevelle SS was close, but the sides are a bit too tall for the 340 heads. Looks cool as hell though! Also have to find some aftermarket valve covers that will work with this engine as well...the stockers are pretty lame.
  10. I have a Revell Civic kit as well (I think it's the earlier Civic to be honest) and have been contemplating what I want to do with it... Yours looks fantastic so far! Keep it up!
  11. I also checked all of the SBC intakes I have and none of them will work. I will see if that BNL Resins will sell just the intake so I can see if it will work or not, then I won't be out of much money if it doesn't. Otherwise the only shot is to scratch-build one, and I have never done something like that and sounds like it could be difficult.
  12. I am not a fan of the AMT Chevelle kit to be honest. If it were the Revell kit, i'd totally build it. I have decided to go forward with the Plymouth Volare, starting by trying to make a custom intake manifold for the 340 from an AMT Duster 340 kit. Thanks all!
  13. I'm building a 340 engine from an AMT Duster kit and its simply the best small block Mopar engine by far. All except if you want to "hop it up" a little. I have some resin 4bbl carbs but they dont go well with the stock 4bbl manifold. Is there anything out there that will give me the look and function I'm after? Thanks! UPDATE: I found 3 other small block Mopar intakes and did a side-by-side comparison...none of them will work, and they are all hideous as far as I'm concerned. Anyone know if there are any other small block Mopar intakes available that would fit the '71 Duster 340 engine? From left to right - '71 Duster 340, '80 Volare 318/360, '78 Lil Red Express 360, '75 Dart Sport 360(?)
  14. I can't decide which kit to build into a pro-touring car. I'm going to be doing a custom fuel injected engine, probably turbocharged, custom lowered suspension and bigger wheels/tires, and custom interior. Please help me decide! (Sorry about the link...not letting me add the picture to the post on my phone) http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g18/supertrick_05/0208172010_HDR.jpg
  15. Nice, Can-Con! Those both look great and fairly simple. Thanks for posting!
  16. Oofta...that Buick GSX engine looks amazing! Great job! Definitely some inspiration right there!
  17. Trying to figure out how to make a custom fuel injection setup on a Mopar engine in a Plymouth Volare kit. Looking for some pictures of what other people are doing. Thanks guys!
  18. I think I'm gonna go with Pro-Tech...they seem to have a real nice casted Demon carb. When I build something with a stock carb setup, I will definitely hit up Joseph, he does amazing work! He just doesnt have much for aftermarket carbs at the moment.
  19. I am on the planning stages to build a pro touring car and am looking for some nicely detailed modern carburetors or EFI units (Holley, Fast, Edelbrock, etc.). Can someone point me in the right direction for a good place to find these with quality castings and good customer service? I dont want to deal with products that need a lot of work to look nice. Thank you in advance!
  20. Hey man, love the build and thanks to you, I found a new source of aftermarket modeling parts! How is this kit coming together? Is the fit/finish good? Any problematic areas I should be aware of when building mine?
  21. That is a 1 /24 scale, not 1/25.
  22. So since I need the wheels from the AMT 1969 Mustang Mach 1 kit, the engine should work as well? If there are visual differences, I should be able to custom fab stuff to make it correct. Then I can slap the 429 Cobra engine in the '69 Mach 1 kit and build that one too
  23. But is it a Cleveland or Windsor? They are different.
  24. My girlfriend and I are going to build a replica of her dad's 1970 Ford Torino GT but the Revell kit comes with a 429 Cobra engine...his car has a 351 Cleveland engine. Where can I find an accurate engine to replace the big block with? Thanks! -Brodie
