Thank you sir.
Another day of painting. I just cleared the frame and the parts to be done in Alclad.
What good is a post without a pic or two.
The front suspension pieces.
The rear suspension pieces.
The paint is really turning this thing around, isn't it?
I have been busy painting, and not being a very organized person, tthe parts groups are getting confusing. Front suspension here, rear suspension there, parts for alclad here, parts to be aluminum there. I just know I'm going to lose something!
Supersonicus Idioticus ( a name stolen from the Roadrunner cartoon and used by a friend when he raced Micro Sprints) is done.
The visor is cut from a nail polish blister pack and held in place with two pins.
He fits perfect, doesn't he?
Thanks, I'll probably make one or two more some day for a diorama. If so, they'll be plenty to post about.
The frame recieved some color today, here's a little peak.
Thank you. Scott
Thank you, I was inspired to build this by another member, it has been a lot of fun and I've learned a lot also.
Check this site out, it will help you understand a sprint car.

A quick trip to the band saw to cut the slits for the bend on the collector and the header is almost done. Once the glue dries, it's heat and form to the header tubes along with a trim and this one is done.
Formed and trimmed.
I forgot I made a radiator for the car, I still need to make hoses and a cap.
This might very well be the last piece to be fabricated, the left side header. It is also about the hardest part to make so far, this is attempt number two. I think I'll get it on this attempt.
I figured the individual pieces needed to make this came out to about 475, I might have missed some. If you count reject parts, probably over 550.
It has been a fun build.
I wasn't happy with the wings, they were too normal looking compared to the rest of the car.
Here's the new top wing.
This has to be the absolute worst angle to view this build.
But from the back, it looks perfect.
Guys, my build is on this page,

Not trying to be rude, but I don't want to derail the OP's thread.
It's more stagger than width although the RR is usually wider too. Some teams ran stagger on the front, some didn't back then. The bigger tires were always on the right side. Unless you are recreating a particular car, I'd run matching front tires.
I recently got a Surfite kit thinking the body would make a good cab for something.
I have to say, the beautiful work on yours has me thinking I should build it somewhat stock, if I was building this and the rolling chassis looked as good as yours, I would leave the body off of it.
It sounds like you are either spraying to dry, or need to thin it a bit more. How smooth was the surface of the primer?
What's the purpose of waiting 6 hours before spraying? Maybe on that 6 hour span the solvents are evaporating out and leaving the paint too thick.
All the wet coats in the world won't smooth out the coat underneath it, unless of course you add so many that you just have a blob a paint with a model hidden under it somewhere.
Are you sure the craters aren't fisheyes or solvent pop?
