cool! -
I like this resurrection! I have always like these Integras and the k20 is a sweet swap!
-
I dug around in my parts stash and found some very nicely detailed brake rotors and calipers to fill the void in the new wheels! Time to get to fabbing them up and get it so the wheels roll!

She is coming along real nice! Nothing wrong with working with what you have around you! I often have to do that myself. Makes the build a lil more satisfying when it's all done knowing that you "MADE IT" yourself!

Sweet work so far mike! I can already picture this beauty in my head but can't wait to see it finished!

All the best wishes to those looking for work! I am now in the same boat as you!

No problem! always like helping out! Dollar General is the store name .They are a franchise store so they are located throughout the country. The wheels and tires are on a 6-wheeled APC vehicle. If you can't find one let me know. I have a extra set right now and i just looked at one of the 3 stores in town and it had 3 of these playsets.

How to work with diecast?
wraith replied to Hedgehog's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have modded some diecast before and I am doing one right now. The trick to diecast in my opinion is not to do to much to the body. Usually just a strip, prime and repaint to the color I want. Files and agressive sandpaper will fix seem lines and fix lil imperfections. I have had good luck using JBWELD to fill gaps and holes and such. Sometime diecast are more fun to do for me as you cannot get overly creative with it. Just and strip and repaint and on the shelf. they usually get done way faster than my plastic models! -
That is one stunning MOPAR!!! Very nice work!

Jonathan, YES the should of! And Shane, if you order one please send me some pics! I went there some time ago but they didn't have any pics.

AWESOME! HEMI Orange is always a winner on these Darts! Love the steel wheels as well!

Good luck finding one of either! They are very hard to come by! I know! I have been building real 1st gen neon's, 2nd gen neon's, and SRT-4's since 1998. And I have beening buying the 1st gen promos and these SRT-4 diecasts about every chance I get! They tend to get pricey as other neon enthusiasts gobble them up like myself! I have a 1st gen neon promo I am building to look like a 1:1 neon I have.

Come on Mike! I know with your skills that you could scratchbuild a ducktail spoiler! That spoiler is actually a very decent representation of that wing! Most other spoilers like that in other kits are not even close.

here is a pic of my almost finished intercooler i build following this tutorial. it still needs to be blackwashed. I sprayed it with a Chrome finish Krylon spray paint. the "CHROME in a can" spray paint did a better job than i though it would! this pic does not do the chrome spray paint any justice. and another one I made. looks better than without, don't you think?

chassis work unmolested middle section cut out lettering sanded off round pins shaved off & the start of dragging the hobby knife through it to bring out the brake and fuel lines. Still have more work to do to it.
-
some progress pics. not nessecarily in the order which they were done. lol! exhaust and rear wing the finished rear exhaust section is mocked up on another one getting the full treatment.
-
here is a pic camparing the chassis. one is unmolested, one has had slight work done to it and the other has had just a lil more work done to it. it will get more work till it meets my satisfaction. I had to scratchbuild the rear axle back part of the exhaust as the "Excess Tuner" version of this diecast has a completely useless and unreal exhaust section and doesn't come with the correct version the other 2 are wearing. I made mine to resemble the real world Borla cat back exhaust. The trumpeted exhaust tips on mine are from the Revell Ram VTS pickup. These cars never came fron Chrysler with mufflers. they used 2 small resonators after the cat which I have replicated with my set-up. later models Chrysler went with a single longer resonator which I have duplicated in the one in the middle.

there are more inprogress pics coming but here is how she is right now. the wheels stick out that far when I am done. the intercooler is scratchbuilt and was done just like the how to says in the tips and tricks section on here. I still need to blackwash the intercooler. I sprayed it with "chrome in a can" spray paint. The front is also wearing a front air dam I scratchbuilt to lower the front a lil more and to give it a slightly more agressive look. still wearing the SRT-4 wheels on the pass side. lol! a lil comparision of the wings and a pic of the work on the chassis and exhaust .....more to come......

after stripping the 1st bad paint job and a lil sandpaper gets this
