  1. Believe it or not, one of the big reasons I did buy a Ford was exactly that: they didn't take bailout money. That counts for a lot with me. My choice was between a Mustang and a Challenger. I have been a MOPAR guy all my life... and have never owned a Ford until now. But I decided that my money will go to support a company that's doing it the right way. I believe in capitalism and free markets... not in bailouts and charity programs for big business.
  2. Firefox is the bomb! Of course I'm on a Mac, so... viruses? Whazzat???
  3. Not me, that's for sure. That's exactly what I've been saying should have happened. You're a business that can't compete in the marketplace? You go under... and new, leaner, meaner, more competitive businesses spring up to fill the void. That's how capitalism is supposed to work...not by propping up failing, poorly run companies with taxpayer money...
  4. Well, it's official... GM has emerged from bankruptcy and is now officially a state-run company. Welcome to China...
  5. Background and shadows is the last thing you should be relying on...
  6. ok, this one didn't fool too many of you... it's real! But I thought the hood strap buckles look kind of fake... I figured some of you would say "model" because of them. Oh well... Next ROM coming MONDAY!
  7. That's cool! Would make a great keychain!
  8. Nice! I like it...that first shot looks like a real car!
  9. Yes, it could. We'll work on that!
  10. I like that idea a lot. Also going in my "to do" file...
  11. Good feedback. I'll answer one by one. As far as editing the text, I agree with you. In many cases the writing could be improved. That's because a lot of the features we run are submitted by people who are great modelers... but they never claimed to be great writers! When I do the layouts I try to catch any obvious typos, sentences that make no sense, bad grammar, etc., but I don't re-write the text, even though in many cases I'd like to! And the copy editors also pretty much leave things as submitted, apart from obvious mistakes. That's because Gregg prefers not to mess with a contributor's text unless absolutely necessary. Getting the story "directly from the horse's mouth," in that person's particular style, is what Gregg prefers. I know it makes for some quirky writing at times, but that's part of the "for modelers by modelers" approach. More info on the model builders: If we're running a feature from a regular contributor, we assume that you all already know who that person is. If we do a feature on someone new, I agree a little "mini-bio" would be nice. Good idea... I'm definitely adding that to my "to do" file. Feature stories on particular models: We have occasionally featured the Best in Show winners as a "feature within a feature" in that particular contest's coverage. Maybe time to do it more often?
  12. We've talked about adding more reviews, but if we added more pages of reviews, that means something else has to go, or be cut back, and you can bet that whatever we decided to leave out to make room for more reviews would be someone else's favorite part! It's a balancing act to try and include a wide variety of columns and features and to try to appeal to the most readers, in a limited number of pages.
  13. No hostility intended in my remarks... but I was responding to your comment: "Not a single thing appealed to me in this issue. I'm not saying that to be a hater...heck I subscribe....but I'd have rather read the phone book." Not a single thing appealed to you? Not even one???!!! Give me a few examples of the kind of feature that would appeal to you. Seriously. I'm not kidding. I'd love to know what kinds of features we're maybe missing or not running often enough. We try to mix it up pretty good, so that there's a little something for everyone, but if there's something specific you'd like to see, tell us.
  14. Kinda cute... but I have to admit I don't get the Coke bottles in back. Seems like an odd cargo load... But then again, it's an odd little car, so I guess it's ok! Are the Coke bottles from a DM diecast, BTW???
  15. You could have polished out the glue smear... or made a new window out of clear acetate. Oh well... next time.
  16. What's up with that giant gap between the rear window and the roof?
  17. Are you saying that the content of MCM has somehow fallen off lately? If so, please be specific. All comments/criticisms/feedback is welcome from all readers, because we really do try to make this magazine about you guys! If there's something we're not getting, or not doing well, or should be doing differently, etc. please let us know... at MCM we do take reader input seriously. Because without readers we wouldn't be here! Obviously we can't accommodate everyone's "wish list", but it's always good to get reader feedback.
  18. I've been playing the radio since I was a little kid. I can also play records and CDs.
  19. Joyce DeWitt got busted for DUI, not pot.
  20. If you know the secret of how to make every article in every issue appeal to every reader every time, please let us know and we'll "fix" the magazine immediately!
  21. Uh... she used to be a model???
  22. No Mrs. Furley, just Mr. It was Mr. and Mrs. Roper...
  23. Mr. Roper: Not in my building! Jack: I swear, it will be completely platonic. Mr. Roper: What's that mean? Mrs. Roper: Like you and me, Stanley.
  24. That one is 1/18, not 1/24.
  25. And tiny little fingers!
