  1. ok, guess mine. Born the same year as: David Caruso (CSI Miami) Geena Davis (famous tall babe) Joe Montana (Football stud) David Copperfield (Magician) Chris Isaak (Musician) Tom Hanks (Thespian) Maureen McCormick (Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!!!)
  2. Bill, if you find a decent one, snap it up! That car is an up-and-coming collectible...pretty much a no-lose investment. The short-lived Chrysler Imperial of the same era had similar styling. Also a collectible, maybe even more so, as fewer were produced than the Caddy. Yep, those cars had style. Like it or hate it, you can't deny they were distinctive.
  3. Very nice! But I'm almost positive that you have the trunk handle upside down!
  4. Quite a few of you were fooled by this one. It's a MODEL! For more info, ask izzy! Next ROM coming Monday!
  5. Man, some great info being posted here. Thanks!
  6. Looks great! And a good choice on the camera...(same as the one I have)...
  7. Try socalcarculture.com. There are photo albums of engines arranged by make. Fantastic resource.
  8. And one more thing... If you have a sensitive schnozz, you might want to crack open a window. Bondo has a pretty distinctive smell. Doesn't bother me, but some might find it a bit much...
  9. Just follow the instructions on the can...it's pretty basic. General rule of thumb is ten parts Bondo mixed with 1 part hardener (golfball size amount of filler and pea-sized amount of hardener, give or take. The exact ratio isn't that critical, just keep it in the ballpark.) The worst that can happen is you'll have the stuff set too slowly (not enough hardener) or it'll set up too fast (too much hardener). After you mix a few batches you'll get a feel for it. It's really pretty simple. Just mix small batches at a time. If you mix a big batch it'll start to set up before you can apply it all. There's not really a whole lot more to it. Mix it up, apply, wait till it cures and sand smooth. For smaller areas or to fill scratches or smaller imperfections you might try their 2-part glazing putty. You mix it up the same way as the canned stuff, but it's more convenient to use, because the filler comes in a squeeze tube, like the hardener.
  10. Well, I'm new to this subject, so I'm still trying go check out all the options and make a decision. Sherline sounds good, but now that some of you guys are telling me you're happy with your Chinese machines, I'm more confused!!! I had been convinced that Sherline was the way to go, but now it looks like I can get by for a lot less with another brand. I'll have to do a little more researching online...
  11. What are you talking about? Of course there were cars when you were born...
  12. Seems like a bed cover would be a snap to make with a piece of sheet styrene...
  13. I don't remember a specific post, but you can use brass strips to make your own "working" leaf springs.
  14. You're the only one who can answer that.
  15. EXACTLY! There's a reason that parcel post costs less. It's a slower service than priority mail. There's no reason to blame the post office...they offer faster, more expensive service (priority mail) or cheaper, slower service (parcel post). The choice is up to you. You and the buyer agreed to use parcel post. The post office didn't make the choice!
  16. That's, uh......unusual.
  17. What's that in the background???
  18. It doesn't get much better than 60s era MOPARS...Chrysler had it all over the other guys back then. That styling and the HEMI, too. Great stuff!
  19. You're right, it looks like the photo is distorted somehow...it does look like a fisheye lens. No problem. Keep on drawing!
  20. Mike, I hope you don't mind if I give you a little unsolicited advice. You have some weird (impossible, actually) perspective thing happening in your sketch. From the angle we're looking at the truck, we can see the windshield. That being the case, we should also see the front end of the truck in the same way, since it is on the same plane as the windshield. Check out my sketch to see what I mean... See what I mean? If we can see the windshield, we would also see any other parts of the truck that are on the same plane. Don't mean to be a critic...but I've been drawing and illustrating for a living for a looong time. Just trying to help, not criticize.
  21. I'm thinking that it's best in the long run to bite the bullet and get the good stuff. I'll have to wait until I get a little more cash flow going, though...
  22. I'll have to think about it. These things cost WAY more than I had figured.
  23. I was looking at the "combo" mill/lathe unit. Couple of thou$and. Geez!
