I saw Ferarris in Vegas, but not that one!

I fooled about 33% of you. Not too bad... It's REAL! I thought it looked sort of like a high-end diecast...maybe some of you thought the same. Next ROM coming MONDAY!

I'd love an "off topic, enter at your own risk" type of area here. But it's not my forum...

I can't predict the future, so I have no idea if the V8 is headed to extinction, but if gas prices continue to rise (and I assume they will), I see less and less demand for V8s, so consequently less and less production of them. Carmakers have to adjust to the reality of the day...sure, they make a huge profit on every Mega-SUV they sell, but these days people are finally waking up and realizing that driving a 6,000 pound SUV that seats 8 just to go to the grocery store is nuts. If I were King of the World here's what I'd do: 1. Immediately hike the federal CAFE standards big time. 35 mpg for cars, 25 mpg for other vehicles 5,000 lbs. or more as a start...higher standards every 10 years or so. If a vehicle can't meet the standard, then that vehicle can't be sold. Period. No more Hummers and other ridiculous cartoon cars like that. Nobody needs a Hummer as transportation...only their ego does. 2. Immediately implement a SERIOUS, fast-track government program in conjunction with the automakers to develop a reliable, affordable and dependable alt-fuel technology...hydrogen being my first choice. Also immediately begin to build the infrastructure (pipelines, "gas" stations, etc.) to accomodate the new technology, on a national scale. This would not only actually lessen our dependence on oil, it would create thousands of new jobs right here in America...not in China. 3. The money that this massive project would require woyuld come from the money we currently are wasting in Iraq. I'd end our involvement in Iraq immediately and stop the financial bleeding our involvement there is causing, and divert that money to improving OUR country...not someone else's. We don't have any inherent right to dictate national poicy to any other sovereign nation any more than they have to dictate policy to us. If they descend into civil war and wind up annihilating themselves, well, too bad. It's not our problem to solve...it's theirs. If our government took the oil issue seriously, we could solve the problem within our lifetimes. The problem is that Big Oil has WAY too much influence in Washington, so common-sense solutions will probably NEVER happen. (Oops...sorry about the "political" viewpoint. I know we aren't supposed to do that anymore... )

Not everyone will see a black band. It depends on which "skin" you have selected. You can change the way the site looks with the "skin selector" at the lower left. Different color schemes, different headers, etc.

Are you kidding? I can fake a photo so well you'd never know it was faked. Who do you think does all the "DOG-FACED BABY!" and "BIGFOOT SIGHTED!!" covers for the Enquirer???

There are SO many photos of this car(s) online I don't even know where to start. Do a google search for "General Lee Charger" and you'll find tons of pics.

OK...I'm back! Vegas is fine in small doses, but after 4 days out there I'm ready to come back to reality... Anyhoo...real or model? The answer: REAL!

Last I heard he was recovering from cancer. That was 3-4 months ago...

Well, you obviously think I'm WAY more devious than I am! Actually I didn't do a darn thing to the photo other than crop it a little tighter. It's getting pretty hard to fool you guys lately...most of you were right, it's REAL! Thanks to Darin B. for the photo...next ROM coming MONDAY!

Another way to lose the unrealistic shine, but less labor-intensive than the Ajax scrub: simply shoot them with a coat of Testor's Dullcote.

I'll bet you get some nice cross-ventilation in that place... Geez, Gregg...looking at houses in the half million dollar range??? The model car mag business must be doing very well for you...

I'm only guessing here...but it looks to me like he used real sheet metal! Probably thin aluminum sheet, like the stuff pie tins and turkey roasting pans a re made of.

It's amazing to me how many of you guys can remember the very first model you built. That's like asking me what day of the week it was that I ate my very first hot dog!!! Time after time I'll see posts concerning a particular kit and suddenly I'll remember building that long-forgotten kit many years ago. I've probably forgotten more models that I've built over the years than many of you have in your whole collection! As to what my first one was...there's no way I could ever remember that.

Just so you know... my rule is that I don't change stuff on the CAR. I might fool around with the background, if I think it would give away the answer, but it wouldn't be fair if I did any trickery on the car itself...I'm WAY too good with Photoshop! You guys wouldn't stand a chance...
