  1. It worked! Thanks, Darin...I had forgotten to fill in one of the boxes...that's why the poll wasn't displaying before. Got it now!
  2. Ok...trying this once again. If this works...thanks to Darin for giving me some help...and please DON"T TELL if you know the answer! If this doesn't work...well, then I give up! Is it real...or a model? The answer: REAL!
  3. Amen to that. What a sad way for a once dominant (and founding) company in the industry to come to a sputtering, incompetent end. Remember the AMT 3-in-1 kits? Those were the days. Used to be that AMT was the engine that pulled the train...now it's the caboose, and at that, it's derailed. Ditto to all who hope for better days ahead for AMT.
  4. Maybe this just isn't the right forum for ROM. Oh well...it was just an experiment...they don't all work!
  5. Yeah, that didn't go so well. And besides, I can't get the poll to work. I might have to rethink this thing altogether...
  6. Ken...apparently you didn't take my "only rule" very seriously... BTW...can anyone tell me how to get the poll (voting choices) to display? I can't get it to work...
  7. New and Improved! Real or Model! Ok...it's not new...and it's not improved either. But it IS at a new home! For those of you unfamiliar with this little diversion, it's very simple. All you have to do is look at the photo and decide whether it's a photo of a REAL car (1:1 scale) or a MODEL (anything smaller than 1:1). I might alter the background just to confuse you...or I might not, but I won't mess with the car itself. Feel free to post your reasons why you think the picture is of a REAL car or a MODEL. The only "rule" is this: If you know the answer for sure (for example, you know where the photo is from), don't tell! That would spoil it for those who want to try and guess. Now then, if I can get this poll to post correctly, here's the first one. The answer WEDNESDAY! I can't seem to get the poll to post??? I filled in a "real" and a "model" choice, but I don't see that appearing here. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
  8. Love the engine detailing! Nice and clean, with just the right amount of "stuff" going on.
  9. ok...I'm having some problems here. I don't see any way to delete a post. Anyone out there know how? Also, I can't figure out how to post a poll. Anyone?
  10. Absolutely beautiful work! Dave, you really deserve your screen name...nobody does them better!
  11. Hey Mike...that's a pretty slick conversion. Nice color too...a little "flashy" for an Edsel cop car, but I guess in the right jurisdiction...
  12. Another spectacular model...but since it's one of yours, that's no surprise! Looks perfect!!!
  13. YES!!! Mike has finally made his appearance...NOW it's a party!!!!
  14. I think some of those numbers are way off. I think there are far fewer female members, and I wonder if the largest group of members is in the 18-24 group?
  15. Another site to try is conceptcarz.com
  16. Whenever I need reference phots my first step is always a thorough google search. I'll type in various relevant topics..."1931 Bugatti", "Bugatti restoration", etc. until I find what I need. Generally I find all I need online. If that doesn't work, my plan B would be amazon.com, or the local library. But definitely do an online search first...it's fast and it's free!
  17. On your "My Controls" page, go to the "Personal Profile" are and click on "edit signature"...
  18. Are you sure you filled out the info on your profile page that you want to appear in your signature line(s)?
  19. Very cool...but would have been even smoother without the vent windows.
  20. Looks like there's some interest. I'll start running it here and we'll see how it goes. The NEW Real or Model coming Monday!
  21. Wow...big model and BIG photos!!! Looks good so far. Did you make the radius rods out of metal rod? They look awfully like real metal, not kit parts. BTW...I know what you mean about building strength into every assembly. When I was doing my Big T's, I found that the finished frame had all the rigidity of a piece of cooked spaghetti. The thing flexed and twisted so bad I thought the front and rear axles would break off every time I picked it up to work on it. I finally made a stand out of styrofoam, where I could place the chassis on it and take the weight/stress off the axles while I worked on the model.
  22. While a member of another forum I ran a regular feature poll called "Real or Model"...the point was to guess whether the car in the photo was a real car or a scale model. No prizes or anything...it was all just for fun, but a lot of people there seemed to enjoy it, and each bi-weekly quiz regularly got several hundred views and 30-60 votes. If there's any interest, I'd gladly start running it here. If not, it'll be R.I.P. for R.O.M....
  23. A beautiful model of one of my all time favorite cars! And being from Illinois, I really like your choice of license plates...
  24. Actually that's Dutch...but as you say, the pictures do the talking!
  25. Yes Sir!!! Working on it as we speak...
