  1. I wasn't around 60 years ago...
  2. I dropped the land line a long time ago. If you have a cell phone, why do you also need a land line? Makes no sense to me.
  3. Building in brass because you want to challenge yourself is fine, But building in brass isn't necessary in a 1/8 scale model.
  4. You can't undo progress. The internet is here. It's not going away. And it has changed the way people shop. Not just for model cars, but for almost everything. Crying about another LHS closing its doors is pointless. We have to deal with the world as it exists today, not wish it was still the way it was 20-30-40 years ago. These "another local hobby shop closes its doors" threads are pretty pointless, aren't they?
  5. Or the "Leftorium" that Ned ran on the Simpsons that only sold stuff for left-handed people!
  6. I disagree. I build 1/8 scale Pocher kits. Their chassis are plastic and there's no problem. You don't need brass. The weight of a 1/8 scale model isn't so much that a plastic chassis can't support it.
  7. I don't know what to say. It's so good, it's beyond words.
  8. If nothing sticks to TEFLON, how do they make TEFLON stick to the pan? Can fat people go skinny-dipping? Why is it that rain drops but snow falls? Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour? Why isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds? Why are there interstate highways in Hawaii? Have you ever imagined a world with no hypothetical situations? Why do they put Braille dots on the keypad of the drive-up ATM? Why did kamikaze pilots wear helmets? If corn oil comes from corn, where does baby oil come from? What's another word for thesaurus? If a book about failures doesn't sell, is it a success? Do cemetery workers prefer the graveyard shift? If the cops arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent? Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist but a person who drives a racecar is not called a racist? Why do croutons come in airtight packages? Aren't they just stale bread to begin with? Whose cruel idea was it for the word "lisp" to have an "s" in it? Why do they call it the Department of the Interior when they are in charge of everything outdoors?
  9. Do infants enjoy infancy as much as some adults enjoy adultery?
  10. This week's car is a 2010 Gillet Vertigo .5 Spirit http://www.carscoops.com/2010/11/gillet-vertigo5-spirit-belgian-supercar.html Who got it right: Badluck 13 dw1603 sjordan2 wisdonm Draggon Matt Bacon chunkypeanutbutter TimJ otherunicorn Foxer jaymcminn
  11. Yes. I've already started on it. But I'm holding off starting the WIP until I have more progress to show. So far it's been mostly research and gathering of raw materials. But I have actually started on the building process... so maybe time I posted up the WIP.
  12. Right. But you can't reach stupid people. And God knows we have our share in this country...
  13. It's simple. Two door coupes are "desirable" and bring the big bucks. More and more of them have been snatched up. So what does that leave us with? Sedans. An untapped market.
  14. I've never understood why model kit manufacturers put out kits with the door lines depicted as raised ridges rather than recesses. Nice work so far.
  15. Beautiful work so far. But of course, at this point I expect that from you...
  16. I know. I have no problem with that. In fact, if I could have snagged a pair, I'd have put them up for sale too!
  17. I wonder what ever happened to Scott? (remember, this post is from 2007!)...
  18. The big Blackhawk parade and rally are tomorrow. Last time the Hawks won the cup a couple years ago, they held the rally in Grant Part (which is downtown right on the lakefront), which is obviously an open-air area and can easily accommodate probably a million people or more. But we've had so much rain the last few days that Grant Park is pretty waterlogged and soggy, and the city felt that huge crowds would cause millions of $$$ in damage to the grass and plants, so they moved the rally to Soldier Field. The problem is, Soldier Field's capacity is only about 66,000... way, waaaaaaaaay less than the number of people who would want to attend the rally. Tickets were free, but so many people went online to get them that the website crashed. Tickets were all gone within minutes, and almost as soon as that they started showing up on Craig's List and other places. A lot of people are going to be making a lot of $$$ selling their free tickets for big bucks online! At the last game of the series here at United Center, standing-room tickets with no view of the ice were going for a grand... or more!. I can only imagine what some of these Soldier Field rally tickets will go for!
  19. They just finishing resurfacing Barrington Road here. What a mess... traffic tie-ups like you wouldn't believe. The worst part... when they're only partway finished, still needing the top layer, and all the manholes are sticking up about 3-4 inches above the road surface. If you run over one you can easily blow a tire or bend a rim. They spraypaint them with fluorescent paint to "warn" you, but they're awfully hard to see at night.
  20. Around here we have tons of "speed bumps," except we call them "pot holes"...
  21. I kind of like it. Delete the goofy "portholes" and there ya go. Slick, stylish, yet different. Just a few simple tweaks is all it needs...
  22. Home run, Ray! Beautiful! I love the color scheme. You can be proud of this one. Wow! That's the second nice '41 Lincoln we've seen here in the last week! Very cool, guys...
  23. Very nice work. Me likee...
