I've built Pochers with 2500+ parts. A Pocher RR kit has more than 400 parts in each wheel! 500 parts I can do with one hand tied behind my back!

I have a Mac, but my monitor is an Acer, and color corrected (remember, I do all the magazine layouts, so I have to see color correctly!). I see a chassis that's all flat dull red, and sorry, but I'm not buying that as a "correct" weathered look... unless the car was driven only on red clay roads! An all gray look would have been more realistic, but all red? Nope.

Glad you like it... and very sorry for the ridiculous delay. But things behind the scenes have been in turmoil, to say the least.

That's not red oxide... that's gray.

Well, of course a model kit could be designed, engineered, manufactured, and packaged here in the US. It's not exactly rocket science. But the fact is, it isn't done here anymore because it's a lot cheaper to have it done over there. Plain and simple. The bottom line rules.

I did a price search and found the best price on Hobbylinc.com. Got the Grand Prix for $148 and the Mefistofele for $169... both way below MSRP. And shipping was only 9 bucks! Plus no sales tax. God bless Google, and God bless the internet!

Ray, I plan on doing a full-blown WIP on both. I know the subject matter doesn't interest most of the members here, but maybe I can show some tricks and techniques that apply to any model kit.

Why is everything on the chassis of the "beater" except the gas tank and the exhaust pipes red oxide? If that's supposed to be weathering, it's not very convincing. How did the pipes and the gas tank escape the weathering process??? Besides, I like the clean one much better!

Kevin, I am psyched! After seeing photos of these two models online, I am about as excited about starting a new project as I've ever been. The only downside is that they're "only" 1/12 scale and not 1/8... but I'll take them!

Yes! On the Mefistofele the chains build up link by link... just like a real chain. That's the kind of detail I love.

For the past several months I have had zero interest in building. Just wasn't motivated to do it. Then the other day, while browsing around the internet and ebay, I came across these two kits. After doing a google search and looking at some photos of both kits, I knew I had to have them. The level of detail is just amazing... just the way I like my kits... the more parts, the better! Ordered them both yesterday and can't wait to get my hands on them. I think my motivation is back!

Beautifully done. I especially like the realistic subtle weathering on the chassis.

Very nice overall, and that interior is just beautiful. But the front bumper seems to be sagging somehow... the part that wraps around and runs along the front fender looks to be angled downward instead of going straight.

I find that log a bit distracting...

Nicely done, but the windshield braces are too thick and out of scale. You might want to replace them with some aluminum or brass rod in a more realistic diameter. Other than that, very cool.
