Kind of like the "everybody wins and gets a trophy" mentality. -

And my nominee for the all-time most annoying, overused, most clichéd phrase ever... "at the end of the day"... God, every time I hear that I want to just strangle the doofus who just said it! -

Exactly right. If you post your work on a public forum, by definition you have put it out there for the world to see and comment on. To be only willing to accept positive comments is unrealistic. You have posted on a public forum, of your own free will... so you have to understand that the public will now see your work and comment on it, pro or con. If you can't handle that, then you shouldn't post your work on a public forum. Simple as that. -

Russ, Gregg added that quite a while ago, when we were having problems with some forum members getting too personal or nasty with their "comments." Most of those people are long gone... they either moved on to cause trouble on other forums or they were banned. I don't agree with that disclaimer still being there, but ultimately it's Gregg's call. Notice though, there is no such disclaimer in the "Under Glass" section. -

That is 100% FALSE. Nobody here is a bigger fan of free expression than I am. Nobody has ever been thrown off because of critical comments they may have made on a model. To say that is just flat out wrong, and you should know better than to throw around baseless accusations like that. The only reason that anyone has ever been banned is due to that person breaking forum rules. Usually many times, because we give people several "second chances" before we pull the trigger and ban them. So anyone that has been banned from here has broken forum rules many times. But commenting on a posted model is not against any rule here... in fact, it's encouraged! That's how people learn to be better builders! -

Beautifully done. -
The bases should have rounded corners. And there really shouldn't be that raised ridge on a traffic cone, but since it's in the cap I guess you'll have to live with it.

Compliments on posted models

This is a problem that will never be resolved. Some people, regardless of skill level, post their work and ask for comments and criticisms, good or bad. Those are the people who actually are looking to improve as builders and actually want honest comments on their work. But then there are people who want nothing but pats on the back and are offended by the slightest criticism or suggestions for improvement. That type of person will always be here and will always keep on posting. And then there are the people you mentioned... those who praise obviously badly done models. I really have no idea why they do that. It would make more sense to not say anything than to praise a model with obvious problems. I can't even count how many posts I've seen of a really badly built model followed by a string of "Nice work" and "looks great" comments. Given the fact that we are all different, it's a problem that'll never be solved. -

I'm wondering why you added those huge square bulges in the front. Looking at a lot of photos of the real car, that area has no protruding bulges like you added. -
Chrysler 413 Cross Ram in 1962?

Allpar is the best website for any MOPAR information. It's the Chrysler online bible. -
Correct. Future is clear acrylic and will not yellow. At least not as long as I've used it.

If you are an airplane builder I'm sure you're familiar with washes. Well, this model could use a black wash on the grille to tone down the "model" look and give the grille some depth. You also might want to think about adding some taillights, just for a little more realism.

Yeah, it's the humidity that kills you. Around here we can have 85 degrees and 60-70% humidity. You could be sitting still under the shade of a tree and break a sweat. It's a killer.

Scott, you're not alone. I also don't get it...

I heard on the TV news that planes were not being allowed to land in Phoenix because of some rule that says the runway cannot be more than 120 degrees. "Only" 92 here today. I can't even imagine what 110-120 feels like.

I think that if you look carefully, you can figure out what the fitment problems are and correct by sanding where needed and touching up the sanded surfaces with a small brush and the appropriate color paint. It might take a bit of work, but knowing your skill level, I know you can figure out the problem and make things work.

Very very snug tires on wheels
Harry P. replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
One more tip... press the tires on from the back side of the wheel. That way, if the wheels are painted, you won't risk messing up the paint. -

Harry P. replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I build Pocher kits, and the tires are like iron. No way they can be slipped over the wheels as is, but the microwave trick works like a charm. The only variable is the actual time... you'll have to experiment. But I guarantee you, this trick works. -

Harry P. replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Put the tires into a bowl of water and microwave for about 45 seconds. Time will depend on your microwave's power. If still too stiff, microwave 15-20 seconds more. The tires will slip right over the wheels, no problem. -
Luxury in the future?
Harry P. replied to bbowser's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Whether it's a "serious" styling study or purely a flight of fancy is irrelevant. It's just plain ugly. And while you're right that this is not meant to be any sort of realistic look at future RR models, then the question becomes what's the point? Why spend the time and money designing and creating something like this? What purpose does it serve?
