  1. Like the guys said... post questions in the question section.
  2. I'm thinking red with black fenders and wheels. How much did yours cost?
  3. Sorry... got sidetracked. Here is the latest. Yes, the chassis is as spindly and fragile as it looks. Although this is a "big scale" kit (1/16), it's actually very small, as you can see by the bottle of paint. Engine is mostly finished, just needs a few small details and wiring. I used various metalizers and silver paint, and Testors Transparent Window Tint spray to give the engine parts, transaxle and drive chain some depth. The rest of the chassis is just plain old semi-gloss black. Oops... I see that the left spindle has come loose at the top, gotta fix that!
  4. Cut the price by 90% and I'd be interested...
  5. Geez, Ron, come on! That's obviously a typo, should have read assembling front food.
  6. Because I don't think there are too many American cars that you guys wouldn't know.
  7. No, it means "gull."
  8. The car in the picture is a Russian GAZ M-13, known as a "Chaika." It is basically a rebadged Packard, and was built between 1959-81, virtually unchanged all those years! These cars were only available to people in government; "regular people" weren't allowed to have them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaika_(car) http://www.auctionsamerica.com/events/feature-lots.cfm?SaleCode=AF12&ID=r370&Order=runorder&feature=grouping=&category= Who got it right: trogdor blunc wisdonm Thom Chris R george53 Gee Bee kennb draggon mr chips Badluck 13 mr moto sjordan2 W-409 patami TooOld Nxr Mr Obsessive customsrus dimaxion G Holding Corvair Jim slusher otherunicorn Jon Cole lovefordgalaxie maltsr lunajammer matthijsgrit
  9. New photos coming tomorrow (Friday)...
  10. What do you mean "it didn't work?" How can it not work???? You cut or grind the end off a sewing needle, leaving half of the eye. You put a drop of CA onto the end of the needle... you touch the needle to the spot you want to glue... the CA flows by capillary action into the joint. How can is possibly not work?
  11. All these bad puns are eggs-actly what I was afraid of...
  12. I'm not a fan of the giant wheel look either, in general, but I admit that in some instances it looks ok. But most of the time, to my eye at least, maybe go up an inch or two from stock; more than that and you have the "clown car" look. The worst is when you see a car that's "all wheel, no tire"... Top: OK, I'll buy that. Bottom: Clown car.
  13. Are the rear doors hinged? Looks like no.
  14. Welcome! And your English is not a problem!
  15. That's what I use. I just grind off the tip of the eye of the needle, leaving a tiny "Y" shaped opening. Works perfectly.
  16. On to the wings for now... Each separate wing rib has to be assembled before you can start assembling the wing. In other words... you have to assemble the individual parts before you can assemble those parts into a structure! Each wing rib (for the upper and lower wings) is made up of several parts: the rib itself, the short vertical stiffener pieces on each side of the rib, and the cap strips that get attached longitudinally to the top and bottom edge of each rib. Multiply all of those parts for ONE rib, and multiply the ribs by how many are needed to build the upper and lower wings, and you come up with a long, tedious process. First step is to glue the short vertical stiffeners onto both sides of each rib, and then trim each stiffener flush with the top and bottom of the rib: Then, each rib gets a cap strip on both the top and bottom edges, like this: I'll be at this for a while...
  17. Tube glue? I'm using CA exclusively on the whole model.
  18. I don't remember the exact details, but something about the '59s having both Galaxie and Fairlane 500 badging or something like that.
  19. Thanks, John. Dan... that is the "Skip's Fiesta" issue. I still have the guy and girl passenger figures around here somewhere...
  20. Thanks to Carl and Randy, I'm set! Thanks, guys.
  21. Could use 2 or 3. Carl is sending me one... but if I mess up it would be nice to have a spare or two!
  22. Uh, Pat, that's Smashing Pumpkins.
