  1. I wonder what they were asking for it at that time.
  2. Mercedes themselves offered to do the resto. I think they'd be pretty trustworthy...
  3. Tint the windows really dark and "fuggetaboudit"...
  4. It's pretty hard to understand why they'd refuse the offer of a free restoration! That car could be worth millions!
  5. All you have to say is "the body is a resin-cast copy of a master that I created by modifying the body from (source)."
  6. It depends what the "chrome" trim is made of. Sometimes the "chrome" trim is actually stainless steel, which doesn't rust.
  7. Oh, believe me... we have a few of those "easily offended" types here. You'll "meet" them sooner or later. Maybe not necessarily in this thread.. but they're out there...
  8. That's because the vast majority of today's Hudson builders weren't around when the car was in production. What they see now are photos of restored cars, and they use that as a reference point. Restored cars are almost always "better than new," and most restored Hudsons are no exception.
  9. No, it's a 2006 Roewe. The Rover 75 ended production in 2005. The Chinese company bought the assets of the defunct Rover and the car is "based" on the Rover (or in plain English, a copy). However, the name "Rover" was already owned by BMW at the time, so the Chinese company couldn't use it... so they came up with "Roewe."
  10. Exactly. No way to know what the interest would be unless you make the post and find out what the interest would be!
  11. Not many correct answers this week! The car is a Chinese 2006 Roewe 750. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roewe_750 Who got it right: ChrisR PatRedmond MikeMc carsntrucks4you trogdor Badluck13 bbsbase kataranga Thom Asay
  12. Did you see it in the magazine? It was a cover feature.
  13. Somebody open a window. The glue fumes are taking their toll...
  14. Corvette fenders don't rust. Ever.
  15. Good advice, Art. Too often we see "weathered" models where the rust or dirt or wear are applied in ways or places that wouldn't happen in the "real world." I've seen "rusted" Corvette models...
  16. Actually I don't even know what it is! I mean, I know you spread it on bread, but what it's actually made of, I have no idea. Some sort of meat? Edit: OK, I looked it up. Doesn't sound horrible... but between vegemite and Wicked Weasel, I know which Australian product makes the world a better place in my mind!
  17. I once asked the same exact question years ago over on that "other forum" when I was a member there... I remember specifically, because all of the "weathered" models, like you said, looked like absolute wrecks. Apparently "weathered" meant "complete wreckage" to those builders. I don't think too many people do the subtle, "real world" weathering that you're thinking of. A few do... a few on this forum, in fact, bit it seems that for most it's either completely pristine and looking like it just rolled off the assembly line, or it's a hopeless wreck. Not many modelers go for the "used but not abused" look (aside from the military guys, who do it almost all the time).
  18. Yeah, I can see that. But in any case you'd figure the word would have gotten back to Revell by now, even if indirectly.
  19. Just a guess. If the problem is as common as it seems to be, I'd be surprised if they hadn't had complaints from people by now.
  20. I don't think any American kit manufacturers had operations in China in the '60s and '70s.
  21. That's cool! Another great looking creation from you.
  22. Ok, well, if that's the case, then you really have to wonder why US makers use the cheesy vinyl tires...
  23. The Japanese model manufacturers (in general) have been outperforming the American ones for a long time.
  24. All you need to do is a google search. You'll have so many reference photos you won't know what to do with them all! http://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&biw=1317&bih=705&q=abandoned+factory&gbv=2&oq=abandoned+factory&aq=f&aqi=g6g-m1g-S3&aql=&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=1097l9430l0l9671l26l26l0l9l9l0l101l1493l16.1l17l0
