It depends what the "chrome" trim is made of. Sometimes the "chrome" trim is actually stainless steel, which doesn't rust.

That's because the vast majority of today's Hudson builders weren't around when the car was in production. What they see now are photos of restored cars, and they use that as a reference point. Restored cars are almost always "better than new," and most restored Hudsons are no exception.

No, it's a 2006 Roewe. The Rover 75 ended production in 2005. The Chinese company bought the assets of the defunct Rover and the car is "based" on the Rover (or in plain English, a copy). However, the name "Rover" was already owned by BMW at the time, so the Chinese company couldn't use it... so they came up with "Roewe."

Good advice, Art. Too often we see "weathered" models where the rust or dirt or wear are applied in ways or places that wouldn't happen in the "real world." I've seen "rusted" Corvette models...

Actually I don't even know what it is! I mean, I know you spread it on bread, but what it's actually made of, I have no idea. Some sort of meat? Edit: OK, I looked it up. Doesn't sound horrible... but between vegemite and Wicked Weasel, I know which Australian product makes the world a better place in my mind!

I once asked the same exact question years ago over on that "other forum" when I was a member there... I remember specifically, because all of the "weathered" models, like you said, looked like absolute wrecks. Apparently "weathered" meant "complete wreckage" to those builders. I don't think too many people do the subtle, "real world" weathering that you're thinking of. A few do... a few on this forum, in fact, bit it seems that for most it's either completely pristine and looking like it just rolled off the assembly line, or it's a hopeless wreck. Not many modelers go for the "used but not abused" look (aside from the military guys, who do it almost all the time).
