  1. I have enough already dealing with this "Bob Turner" dude. Don't push me tonight.
  2. One last time, and then I give up with you. Anyone can post here as often as they like as long as they post within the forum rules. So if Bob Turner makes a post that I think is asinine (heaven forbid)... or posts too often for my liking... or posts about subjects that I find banal or uninteresting, or in any way offends my delicate sensibilities, I have several choices: Either ignore Bob Turner's threads by not clicking on them (hey, there's an idea!), or not bother reading any of Bob Turner's posts, or, if I was so completely, utterly devastated by the damage that Bob Turner was doing to my psyche, I have the option of leaving this forum and joining one where Bob Turner would no longer torment my fragile psychological makeup. The one choice I would not have is to make personal attacks on Bob Turner, as that would be a violation of forum rules. I hope I have made myself clear enough to you.
  3. Maybe you need a refresher course in basic English comprehension?
  4. From howstuffworks.com: Up until the 1980s, a lot of liquefied-gas aerosol cans used chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) as a propellant. After scientists concluded that CFCs were harmful to the ozone layer, 70 nations signed the Montreal Protocol, an agreement to phase out CFC use over the next decade. Today, almost all aerosol cans contain alternative propellants, such as liquefied petroleum gas, which do not pose as serious a threat to the environment.
  5. No reason for me to delete this post. But I will answer you. You misunderstand my comments. Everyone is free to post away to their heart's content, as long as they post within the forum rules (no swearing, no personal attacks, etc. You all know the drill). And if anyone here doesn't like what another member has posted, or how often they post, or on what subject they post, etc., that member has the option of either ignoring the person who's posts they don't like... or they have the option of joining another forum. I'm not trying to force or persuade anyone to join another forum. All I said was that if this forum, for whatever reason, bothers you or in any way doesn't meet your expectations, move on to one that does. I can't explain it in any simpler terms than that.
  6. Yeah, I heard the "talking heads" on TV debating that. I don't know if I agree. Of course, every ad has a purpose or a "message"... whether the message here was "re-elect Obama" is open to debate. I know that Clint Eastwood is about as straight a shooter as they come in Hollywood, and I also know that he's a pretty independent thinker, not much of a "party line" guy. So if this was a "blatant" political ad, they were pretty subtle! But in any case, just from the standpoint of tha actual ad, apart from the intent... very well done. Probably the standout of the whole bunch. Of course, I'm a big Clint Eastwood fan, so my opinion is probably a little biased...
  7. I got the point. Believe me, I'm a very smart guy.
  8. I've had just about all the "constructive criticism" I need lately. You don't like it here? Move on.
  9. You do realize that your membership here is voluntary and not mandatory? You don't like it here? Fine, you have every right to your opinion. So go somewhere else. No hard feelings, that's just simple logic. Why hang out at a forum that you don't like and complain about it when you have the option of going to any of dozens of other forums that you might like better?
  10. Sorry, didn't mean to jump down your throat. I'm just a little tired of the BS I've been getting via PM from a certain group of "disgruntled" forum members who insist that the forum needs to operate the way that THEY want it to operate. That, of course, is an impossibility. That group does not include you. So again, sorry to jump on you. It's just been a long week on the moderating side of things.
  11. Hey, John (and others)... you already know this-but if you're not interested, here's a clue: don't click on the thread. Ignore it. Save yourself the indignation and suffering.
  12. And where do you think the US government gets the money from? BTW... school districts here spend about $15,000 PER PUPIL of taxpayer money. Got nothing to show for it. Ooops, sorry... no politics allowed.
  13. John, looks like you caught Tom Daniel during his afternoon nap!
  14. But what would really make the model is the interior details!
  15. And nothing will give your children an appreciation for good taste like a garish customized school bus with more subwoofers than a Van Halen concert to blow the little tyke's eardrums out...
  16. They get some sort of "government credit." And where do you suppose the government gets the money from??? Cato said it... somebody's paying for those buses. Guess who.
  17. A couple of issues ago we featured a Ken Kitchen scratchbuilt "Huckster" fruit/vegatable truck. Sort of a related idea. A lunch wagon would make a pretty interesting model, especially in a diorama setting with some scale figure "customers."
  18. Yes, I'll bet all the kids in the lower level were saved from injury due to protruding lug nuts...
  19. So the bottom line after all that is what I said in the first place: steel is the best and cheapest material to make molds from (regardless of the ever-evolvong technology that comprises the process of getting the tool cut, which was not the original question). If there was a better, cheaper alternative to steel, they would be using it.
  20. Speaking of Chrysler, this is sort of off topic as far as Superbowl ads, but they've announced that Chrysler will be hiring almost 2,000 employees to build the new Dodge Dart in the Belvidere, IL plant. Belvidere is a suburb of Rockford, IL, about 40 miles NW of me, and that plant is where they built Dodge and Plymouth Neons for many years. It's good to hear about an American auto manufacturer actually expanding production and hiring instead of "downsizng" and closing plants for a change. And Chrysler has posted some pretty impressive growth lately, so good for them. The American auto industry seems to be making a comeback, and that's good for all of us. Now if only they'd ax that ridiculous Chevy Volt...
  21. Just saw the Clint Eastwood/Chrysler ad on youtube. Very cool. Very well done, great production values. And a great message, more "pro-USA" than a blatant plug for Chrysler. Good for them. Nicely done. And Clint Eastwood is just so cool.
  22. I agree, this time the actual game was way better than the ads (and the halftime show... yawn...)
  23. According to our local nespaper media critic, the Clint Eastwood commercial was one of the worst ones! (I missed it, I must have been in the bathroom!). I liked the "end of the world" Silverado ad, kind of clever. You don't always see raining toads in a commercial! And the Seinfeld/Leno ad was pretty clever. The rest of the ads were basically a big snooze. Nothing very "Superbowl worthy" this year, IMO. Way too much exploding stuff, way too little wit or cleverness. That Bud "end of Prohibition" ad was just weird. Overall grade for this year's crop: C- (Although Danica looked hot! ) I'll have to check out the Clint Eastwoon one on youtube.
