  1. Another excellent job Peter.
  2. I will just add to what everyone else has already said.... that is one beautiful model. For what it's worth, for the chrome headlights, what I've done is glue clear headlight lenses from my parts box that fit the chrome lenses. I use either clear enamel or clear Elmers Glue to attach them.
  3. I actually started this build about 6 months ago. After I finished the engine and chassis I couldn't decide on a color scheme for the car and it went back in the box. After watching Fast & Loud on Velocity channel when the guys at Gas Monkey Garage did up a '56 Nomad for Dale Earnhardt Jr., I liked the looks of the Nomad they did and decided to do my model in more or less the same color scheme of bright Light Green and Silver. I'll be using Tamiya's Light Green and Duplicolor Light Slate Metallic. Here's what the completed engine looks like... and here's what the chassis and engine looks like on the gold wire wheels I chose... I'll post pictures of the chassis the next time I take pictures. Now that I've decided on a color scheme for the car, I've spent the last 3 days working on the interior since we've had crappy, rainy weather here (what else is new,,,). The interior is just taped together for the pictures. The carpet is flocked in dark green and the gas pedal and driver's side floor mat are painted semi-gloss black. the tops of the side panels are painted body color Tamiya Light Green, and the ribbed panel under that and part of the seats are painted flat, Beret Green. The seats and door panels are flocked in a silvergray and green. I added some green wire for piping and painted some pin heads the light green color for buttons. The cranks and handles are painted chrome silver. I still have to work on the dashboard and steering wheel. We're supposed to have a cool, dry weekend so hopefully I'll be able to paint all the body parts. Thanks for checking in on this new project. Any and all comments are both welcomed and appreciated.
  4. Welcome to our plastic playground Patrick.
  5. James, these cars are looking so cooool. I love the blue one and your choice of hubcaps.
  6. Love it. What a great lady......and a great car.
  7. I thank you very much Harry. Doing up model interiors is my favorite part of modeling. When I lived on Long Island, NY some of the guys in the L.I.A.R.S. Club called me the Secretary of the Interior. I still sponsor the Best Interior Award for the LIARS Model Car Challenge Show every year. When I used to attend the MassCar Model Shows back in the late 90's and 2000, I won their Best Interior Award 3 times (not bragging here).
  8. Alan and Bruce, thanks very much, I appreciate your encouragement..
  9. Great looking build Jim, I love it.
  10. Great model Randy. I love the crowd looking on in the background.
  11. That is a beautiful model Peter. Great job in the engine compartment.
  12. James, believe me I was in no way belittling the 3 Rivers Show.... I've been there and will be there again this year.
  13. I really wouldn't go quite that far Jeff.... It's A LOT smaller than NNL East.
  14. Hey Tom, thanks a lot. I will eventually be taking a group pic of the "Class of '56". So far it only has 4 graduates. Actually Tom, I do have a '56 Nomad that I started work on almost 6 months ago. I completely finished the engine and chassis but I couldn't decide on a color scheme for the car that would look good with the gold wire wheels that I put on it. It went back in the box until I could decide on a color scheme. This past weekend I was watching Fast & Loud on Velocity Channel and the guys at Gas Monkey Garage did up a '56 Nomad for Dale Earnhardt Jr. that really blew me away. They painted it a really bright light green color with silver (Mountain Dew colors). I think I will paint my model in those colors using Tamiya's Light Green, and Duplicolor Light Slate Metallic. Hopefully I'll be able to come up with a complimentary color scheme for the interior. I've also got the '58 Dodge promo that I won on EBAY to add to the "Class of '58". I won't be starting work on that though until I get some parts from Modelhaus for it.
  15. Thanks a lot guys. James, I'll try for some outside shots as long as it's a nice day... If I get down and lay on the ground I may not be able to get this old body up on its feet again,,LOL. Jeff, I will definitely be at the Castle Shannon 3 Rivers Show but I don't know if I'll bring this car. I have plenty of others to bring. Terry, those exhaust tips are molded on to the promo's rear bumper.
  16. Thank you very much everyone. I really appreciate your kind, encouraging words.
  17. Yeah Jim, 40 MPH air conditioning...!!! I had it in my '59 Dodge years ago.
  18. I finished this up this afternoon. As I stated in the WIP thread, the inspiration for this build came from this picture I found when I Googled reference pictures... The model is an old Johan promo that I picked up at a show many years ago. It was painted a horrible raspberry color and the names and badging had been sanded off. I painted it with Black Gold's Silverwhite Pearl and Duplicolor Storm Gray Metallic, with a Duplicolor acrylic clearcoat and polished. The grille was given a blackwash and clear headlight lenses were glued to the chrome promo headlights to look better. Over time I lost the promo chassis and found a chassis that fit the body in my parts stash that I had to lengthen by about a half inch to get the wheelbase right. The halibrand wheels and big n' little tires are also from the stash. The taillights were detailed with BMF and the bullet backup light lenses are from the Revell chopped '49 Merc kit. I used the green promo glass which I polished as I couldn't find any clear glass in my stash that would fit, and, I just didn't feel like making my own glass from clear acetate. I don't think that the green glass looks all that bad on this car. As I stated in the WIP thread, the interior is a resin piece from Modelhaus. The carpet was flocked in black and the seats and side panels were painted in shades of gray and black. I added chrome strips to the side panels and drilled holes for resin cranks and handles from ReplMinCoMD which I painted chrome silver. I added gas and brake pedals as there were none. The dash is painted black and detailed with BMF and a superfine point black artists pen. The shifter and turn signal lever are pieces of shirt pins. Oh......and Harry...... I screwed up on this one...... I totally forgot to install an interior rear view mirror. I tried 3 times to add one after the car was completed but was unsuccessful in getting it to stay in place. Thanks for looking in on this build. All comments are welcomed, good or bad. Now on to the next one.
  19. Carl I usually use either Elmers glue or clear enamel to glue in the vent window after putting it in place using a tweezer. Sometimes you have to apply some pressure with your thumb and forefinger to get the glass to seat properly, but don't apply the glue (using a toothpick) until after you get the piece in place.
  20. This is a pic of a 409 from either the '60 or '61 Chevy kit that I put in a '34 Ford Street Rod a couple of years ago. Hope this helps.
  21. If I remember correctly, there was a comparison on TV some time ago of the meat quality between McD's, BK, Wendy's and White Castle...... White Castle won..!!! The only problem I have with them is "gas" hours later.
  22. I always get a pop-up box with the new incoming message when I open up the Forum, in addition to that little red tag on the mailbox/messenger.
  23. Great build Al. You sure work quick. You've got a good theme going here.
  24. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...I haven't had freshly made White Castles since I left Long Island, NY almost 7 years ago. The frozen ones you can get in the supermarket are "OK", but there's nothing like a fresh sack of 10...!!! Belly Bombs..!!!
